Abstract

The purpose of the research was to determine the effect of gamal leaf bokashi application on reclaimed soil to the production of mustard and the plant nutrient availability. The research was conducted at the Experimental Farm of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Mulawarman from August 2001 to January 2012. This study used a randomized block design and treatment was bokashi doses level by 5. Plant parameters measured were plant height, number of leaves, and fresh weight, while the plant tissue parameters analyzed were N, P and K. The results showed that application of gamal leaf bokashi on reclaimed soil had no significantly affect on height and fresh weight of mustard, but had a significant effect on the number of leaves. Giving bokashi in reclaimed soil affected the availability of nutrients on the plant tissue in particular P and K. Mustard plant that contained N, P and K were achieved at the highest dose of 5 tonnes.ha-1. Such the treatments also produced the highest fresh weight.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know interaction effect of dolomit lime with tablet urea on peat land and recognize individually way antara dolomit lime and urea fertilizer. This research used the Completely Randomized Design for Factorial which consusted of two factors, namely dolomit factor (D) and tablet urea factor (U). The application of dolomit lime used dose: D0 = without dolomit lime, D1 = 5 g/plant, D2 = 10 g/plant and D3 = 15 g/plant. For tablet urea, the dose: U0 = without tablet urea, U1 = 2 tablets/plant, U2 = 4 tablets/plant, and U3 = 6 tablets/plant. The data were analyzed statistically with different test at the 5% significance level. The observed parameters were plant height, number of productive stem per plant, production per cluster, percentage of dried paddy, and dried paddy yield per ha. The results show that application of tablet urea with dolomit lime intereactionally had not different, but application tablet urea as well as dolomit lime partially had a difference. The best dose was 2 g/plan (U1) for tablet urea and 15 g/plant for dolomit lime. Furtehrmore, the best intereaction was D2U2 treatment.

Abstract

Potato production in Indonesia in 2008 reached 1.071 million tonnes or an increase of 6,7% compared to 2007 with a degree of productivity of 16,7 ha. However, the potato production can only meet the national requirement of 8%. The use of tissue culture techniques have been developed to produce seeds potato in large quantities; a short time, free of pests and virus diseases, and not depending on the season. This research aims to study the influence of media on the induction of shoots and tubers of potato in vitro using explants node and MS, CAP, BA 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 ppm as media, implemented at tissue culture laboratory, IPB Bogor in 2010. The number of buds on the tuber formation of potato tissue culture result are obtained on the provision of the highest concentration of BA with 0.5 ppm, which is 13.6. BA concentration is a concentration equilibrium in the formation of buds. Height of shoots and the highest number of node available on the CAP administration respecticvely 6.1 and 36.

Abstract

Integrated Plant Management Approach as a national program must be applied on the rice production centers. One of rice production center in Riau Province is Bunga Raya District, Siak Regency. In 2010, the cultivated area of rice in the district was 8,546 ha with total production of about 21,083 MT/ha. The aim of this research was to know the adoption level of integrated plant management of paddy filed by farmers. The research was conducted in Bungaraya Village, Bungaraya District, Siak Regency from January to December 2011. The measurement of adoption level and dissimination impct of integrated plant management for paddy included farmer identity, technology componen of integrated plant management for paddy, farmer response level, and feedback. The results show that the level of farmer adoption of technology componen for integrated plant management was reletively high, ranging from 82 – 100%. The integrated plant management approach increased rice productivity from 3.4 MT/ha to 5 – 6 MT/ha. Therefore, Bunga Raya as rice barn of Siak Regency which is begun from increasing planted area and cropping index of rice from Regency government.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to examine the effect of Wood Shavings, Reed, and Acacia Magnum leaf mulches on density and composition shoots of weed, determine the most effective mulch to control weed, and determine composition of arranged weed. The research was conducted at experimental biological farm of FMIPA Biology Riau University from March to May 2012. The treatment consisted of land without mulch, land with mulch of wood shavings, reed, and acacia magnum leaf. Each treatment was repeated twice. Each organic matter was spread on the soil surface with thickness of 5 cm for each plot 1 cm2 of size. The observation was conducted once every 4 week, namely 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks after being given mulch. The results showed that the Acacia Magnum leaf was the most effective organic mulch to control weed with the obstacle percentage of 54.22%. The weed which was hampered its emergence by Acacia Magnum leaf was wide weed leaf. Application of Acacia Magnum leaf mulch was able to change weed composition with the smallest proportion was wide leaf weed and narrow leaf weed proportion increased

Abstract

The objective of this reserach was to know the effect intereactionally and individually of Kinetin and NAA application on embryo multiplication for sugar palm. This research was conducted at the Biotechnology Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture Riau Islamic university Pekanbaru from October 2010 to January 2011. The experimental used the Completely Randomized Design with 2 factors. The first factor was K with 4 treatments; K0 (0 ppm), K1 (0.1 ppm), K2 (1.0 ppm), and K3 (10.0 ppm). The second factor was N with 4 treatments; N0 (0 ppm), N1 (0.1 ppm), N2 (0.5 pmm), and N3 (1,0 ppm). The observed parameters consisted of emergent shoot age (day), percentage of emergent shoot (%), shoot height (cm), and emergent root age (day). The obtained data were analyized using statistice technique and then test with 5% significant level. The result showed that interaction of Kinetin and NAA application had a significat effect on emergent root age with the best treatment of k1N0 30.66 days. Individually, kinetin affected significantly on emergent shoot age, percentage of emergent shoot, emergent root age with the best treatment of K2, and shoot height with the best treatment of K3. Furthermore, NAA hada a significant effect on emergent shoot age and shoot height with the best treatment of N3 and emergent root age with the best treatment of N0.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to recognize the crumb rubber marketing, price transmission, dan market integration in Kuantan Singingi Regency. The research used survey method to collect primary and secondary data. The analysis instruments used were margin and multiple regression analyses with refer to Nerlove Model. The results showed that the best efficient rubber crum channel was found on markeitng channel which was done by farmers joined together into cooperative marketing group by action system. The elasticity value of price at farmer level transmission showed that price was enough response on price changes in trader level in long term as well as short term. The price response at trader level that was resulted by price changes at the fabric level in long term as well as short term was good. Nevertheless, price at the fabric level was not responsive on price changes of FOB in long term as well as short term. Analysis of market integration showed that market at farmer and trader levels was integrated perfectly in which price changes on one market will be followed by other markets with the same proportion. Althought market structure directed to oligopsony form, transaction process showed more clearly on perfect competition market. It is because the good relationship between farmer and trader. Abstract

The state of fishery marketing concerning its marketing system, price at various levels, and marketing efficiency in the coastal area of Batubara regency are reported. Data and information based on survey, which was conducted on fishers, who fishing in the coastal waters of the regency. There are two basic flows fish commodities through different functional marketing systems from the point of fishers as producers to consumers. First, marketing system of the fish from artisanal fishers was used to the collecting fish traders. Since the traders are persisting in many points of marketing, the channel is rather length. Second, fish marketing through private fish landing place of the fish caught by own boat or special tied fishers to the landing places. The flow chain of the system is shorter than the former, low marketing margin, so that the marketing efficiency is rather high. The sold price and marketing margin seemingly differs at each institution point of marketing system. It determined by timing and the length of transportation time, economy, accuracy, the length of marketing chain, and the price at each point of the chain, which the handling fish flows determine of the efficiency of the distribution channel. In order to improve marketing efficiency and artisanal fisher’s income from the fish marketing by receiving of the fair fish price, it is necessary to develop open market by means of functionalized government established landing places. Hence, the length of marketing chain is shorter, and followed by supporting of functionalized fishers cooperative that able to manage the landing places. So that many marketing institutions of the fish traders are successed by in the efficient marketing system.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to get a combination of BAP and IAA concentration which give the best effect on anthurium explants in tissue culture. The research was carried out at Biotechnology Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture Riau Islamic University Pekanbaru during four months, starting from august to November 2009. The method used was completely randomized design with two factors. The first factor is given BAP and the second one was given IAA. The observed parameters were explants survive percentage, bud emerge age, root emerge age, bud number, root number, and bud height. The observation data was analyzed statistically and advanced test using BNJ at a 5% significant level. The results show that the combined BAP and IAA application had interactionally an effect on root emerge age, bud number, root number, and bud height. Individually, BAP application had an effect on bud emerge age, root emerge age, bud number, root number, and bud height with without BAP had a significant effect. While, IAA application affected significantly on bud emerge age, root emerge age, bud number, root number, and bud height.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effect of ethrel and NPK fertilizer application interactionally and individually on production of Melon. The research used completely randomized design which consisted of 2 factors. The R factor (using ethrel) consisted of 4 levels and N (using NPK fertilizer) was also 4 levels with three replications and the total was 48 plots. The observated parameters were flowering age, harvested age, circle fruit, fruit weight, production per plot, and fruit taste quality. The observation data for each treatment was analyzed statistically and was done advanced different test with 5% significant level. Interactionally, the ethrel and NPK applications had only a significant effect on circle fruit with the best treatment of R2N1 (ethrel concentration of 5 cc/l and NPK of 10 g/plant). The ethrel application had only a significant effect on flowering age, harvested age, and fruit weight with the best treatment of R2 (5 cc/l). NPK application only affected significantly on flowering age and fruit weight with the best treatment of N1 (10 g/plant).
