Abstract

This research aims to recognize the effect of interaction of NPK and Compost Doses on growth and production of chili. The research was carried out at experimental farm of Faculty of Agriculture Riau Islamic University during six months from February to July 2012. Completely Radomized Design with two factors and three replication was used.The first factor was M (NPK Gower Doses) with four levels, namely M0 (without Grower), M1 (15 g/plot), M2 (30 g/plot), and M3 (45 g/plot). The second factor was T (compost doses) with four levels, namely T0 (without compost), T1 (250 g/plot), T2 (500 g/plot), and T3 (750 g/plot). The observated parameters included plant height, flowering age, harvested age, fruit weight per plant, and number of residual fruit. The observation results show that NPK Grower and compost had a significant effect on flowering age, harvested age, and fruit weight per plant with the best interreaction of M1T3. The NPK application affected significantly on plant height, flowering age, harvested age, fruit weight per plant, and number of residual fruit with the best effect of M3. The compost application had a significant effect on plant height, flowering age, harvested age, fruit weight and number of residual fruit with the best effect of T3.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effect of interaction of giving oil palm stem compost and NPK pearl fertilizer on growth and production of corn. The research was conducted at the experimental farm of Faculty of Agriculture Riau Islamic University Pekanbaru during four months from July to October 2011. The experiment was arranged in the completely randomized design with two factros. The first factor was compost of oil palm stem (K) and second factor was NPK pearl application (D). The observated parameters were plant height, leaf width index, flowering age, harvested age, harvested index, cob production per plant, and seed number of cob. The application of oil palm stem compost and NPK pearl interactionally showed a difference of harvested index parameter with the best treatment of K2D3 (300 g/plant and 15 g/plant) namely 138.4. The application of oil palm stem compost only showed a difference on harvested index with the best treatment of K2 (600 g/plant) namely 119.3. The application of NPK pearl only showed a difference on plant height with the best treatment of D3 (15 g/plant) namely 222.6 cm. The best treatment for leaf width index was D3 915 g/plant) namely 639.2 cm, for harvested age was D3 (15 g/plant) namely 66.83 day after planting, for harvested index was D3 (15 g/plant) namely 124.6, for cob production per plant was D3 (15 g/plant) namely 368.5 g, and for seed number per cob was D3 (15 g/plant) namely 722.6 seeds.

Abstract

Plant selection of mutant with cholcisin of 507 accessions planted at the experimental farm of FMIPA Biology Riau University. A Completely Randomized Design was used in this research. Observation result for 15 accessions M1 and M2 of mutant mung bean pea had a potential to be developed as a high yielding plant. Based on observation of plant height characteristics for mutant mung bean was obtained the plant height ranging from 89 to 100.5 cm, flowering age ranging from 32 to 34 days (50%), pod age ranging from 37 to 53 days, harvested pod number ranging from 68 to 70 (50% mature), and pod weight ranging from 39-53 g/heaviest plant. For mung bean, cholcisin mutation induction could induct to emerge mutant generation. This mutant had better productivity comparing to local green pea found in Sendayan Kampar Riau before being inducted. Mutant which showed the best result was M1 and M4 colleting big fruit, 80% of mature and little trikom generation.

Abstract

The aim of this paper was to analysis the role of oil palm plantation on poverty reduction and income distribution of farmers’ household in Riau Province. Data were collected by survey method in Kampar, Rokan Hulu, Siak and Bengkalis Regencies of Riau Province. These locations have the largest oil palm plantation area in the Province. By using multistage sampling, the total of 400 households was visited and interviewed personally in 2011. The results showed that oil palm plantation increased household income. The contribution of income received from oil palm plantation ranged from 75 to 90%. The total of income per capita of household in average was four-fold above poverty line. The per capita income from oil palm plantation only was three-fold above poverty line. Furthermore, income distribution of oil palm household was relatively equal. The development policy of oil palm plantation could increase the rural society welfare.

Abstract

This experiment was conducted at the Fish Hatchery, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University Pekanbaru during three months. The aims of this experiment were to find out the effect of doses of Spirulina sp on survival and growth of seeds of Trichogaster petroralis Regan. Twenty-days-old seed of T. petroralis Regan were used in this study. The average length and weight of fish seed were 1.2 cm and 0.072 g respectively, with initial stocking density of 5 individual/liter. A completely randomized design with three replicates was used in this experiment. Spirulina sp (in the form of powder/dry) with different doses, P1 (5%), P2 (10%), P3 (15%), and P4 (20%) per body weigh were used as treatment. The results showed that the highest weight obtained was found to be 0.625 g at treatment 10%, while the lowest weight was found to 0.452 g in treatment 20%. The seed length of T. pectoralis was approximately 1.4 cm in treatment 10%, it was longer than the length of the seed 1.3 cm at treatment 5%, 15%, and 20%. The highest survival of T. pectoralis was found to be 88.90% at treatment 10%, while the lowest survival was found at treatment 20% to be 49.33%. The growth rate of daily weight of T. pectoralis for 10% was the highest 7.86%, and the lowest was found in 20% to be 6.83%.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of the hormone thyroxine (T4) on the survival and growth of fish seed jambal conjoined. The method used was experiment with completely randomized design with one factor and four treatments. The observed parameters were the absolute weight growth of fish seed jambal, the total length growth, the growth rate of daily weight percentage, and survial rate. The treatment consisted of P1 (without the hormone thyroxine), P2 (soaking with hormone thyroxine at a dose 0.2 mg / 2 liter), P3 (soaking with hormone thyroxine at a dose of 0.6 mg / 2 liter), P4 (soaking with hormone thyroxine at a dose of 1.0 mg / 2 liter). The observation results showed that the best dosage was found on soaking treatment with hormone thyroxine 1.0 mg/2 liter. On that treatment, the growth of the absolute weight of jambal siam fish seed reached 7.04 g, the absolute length growth of 3.07 cm, the growth rate of daily weight percentage of 15.91% and survival rate of 100%.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the characteristics of pond bottom PMK according to the age grouping, quality improvement PMK and water quality of lime CaCO3. Research use two methods: the first, randomized block design with three replications, which is one factor CaCO3 lime, lime dosage of five level i.e. (g/m2) and the 2 age groups pond (year). Determination of the dose of lime in pond bottom soil and age class texture, and new pond (<4 years) and old (> 5-10 years). The second, addition of lime to the soil pH neutral RYP using completely randomized design with three replications, ie at an age (years) (O1) 0-5; (O2) 6-10; (O3) 11-15; (O4) 16-20. The results showed that the lime requirement CaCO3, showed dose of lime significant effect on the characteristics of soil pH, organic matter content, and CEC, otherwise the water quality parameters, namely hardness and dissolved oxygen. Age pond is also an influence on soil chemical parameters namely pH, and water chemistry parameters is dissolved oxygen. Effect of treatment was highest in 168.00 g CaCO3/m2 on the soil pH, and dissolved oxygen in the water in a pond of new and old, as well as organic matter content and water hardness for the new pond, while treatment 112,00g CaCO3/m2 on the hardness of the water for a long pond. Determination of the lime requirement CaCO3 in second method shows how 53,21g CaCO3/m2 tend to improve soil quality by increasing the life of the pond. Effect of lime CaCO3 against organic matter content pond increased with increasing an age of pond. YRP pond bottom soil characteristics and quality of the pond water increases with lime CaCO3.

Abstract

Indonesia's population consume coffee as much as 0.98 kg/capita/year, coffee production any years necessary to review the Interior consumption ranged between 280,000 tons of coffee. Marketing strategy brand Silvia coffee powder can be known with how seeing funnel marketing, marketing efficiency, and marketing margins. The method is a method carried case studies. Ground coffee brand marketing Silvia there are two channels, direct marketing as much as 25.44% and indirect marketing as much as 74.56%. Efficiency direct marketing 0.52% margin Rp.0, indirect Marketing 0.60% margin Rp. 10,000.00. Product Strategy with attention to price, attributes, promotion and distribution. Product development is done with improvement production period, sustainability product and marketing accentuate attributes.

Abstract

Indonesian Government has impelemnt various programs to improve the community food security, one of them is Village Food Resiliance Program. The Prgram has been conducted by Indonesian Government since 2006. This study intend to analyze what determinant factors that influence participant household food security level after they join the village food resilience program in Riau Province. The multinomial logistic analysis results conclude that the determinant factors affecting food resilience of the participants of the Mandiri Pangan Village Program in Riau Province are the age of the household head, the number of household members and the size of the household landholdings

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Endophytes Bacillus sp. and potassium (K), and get the best combination in inducing stem rot disease and growth of oil palm seedlings. This research was conducted at BioCertilizer and Biopesticide Industrial Unit (BICCOM) of Riau University with experimentally using Factorial Randomized Design (RAL) with two factors, 3 replications. The first factor was the concentration of Endophytes Bacillus sp., B1 (3,37x1011 cfu/ml), B2 (2,98x1012 cfu/ml), B3 (2.79x1013 cfu/ml). The second factor was the K dose, consisting of 4 levels: K0 (without K), K1 (0.1 g/polybag), K2 (0.25 g/polybag), K3 (0.5 g/polybag). The data obtained were analyzed statistically with anova and DMRT 5%. The parameters observed were incidence of symptoms, disease intensity, salicylic acid concentration, seed height, leaf number, base diameter, root shoot ratio and seedlings dry weight. The results indicate that Endophytes Bacillus sp. and K fertilizer and single factor K fertilizer did not affect all parameters. Single factor Endophytes Bacillus sp. are able to inhibit the emergence of early symptoms, reduce disease intensity, salicylic acid concentration, seed height, number of leaves, stem diameter and dry weight of seedlings. Combination of Endophytes Bacillus sp. 3.37x1011 cfu/ml and K 0.25 g/polybag tend to increase the number of leaves, stem diameter and dry weight of seedlings.
