Abstract

This study aims to compare the performance of the Support Vector Machine (SVM) and K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN) classification methods in predicting diabetes mellitus. The study employs a machine learning-based experimental approach, utilising a secondary dataset from Kaggle comprising 70,000 patient records and 34 variables, predominantly consisting of clinical data and individual health characteristics as the main variables. The data was split into training and test sets in an 80:20 ratio to ensure the model received sufficient training data whilst maintaining the objectivity of the testing. Model performance was evaluated using the accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. The results of the study showed that SVM delivered superior performance with an accuracy of 78.21%, whilst KNN only achieved an accuracy of 47.23%. SVM also demonstrated better prediction stability across most classes. These findings indicate that SVM is more effective for predicting Diabetes Mellitus on datasets with a relatively large number of features and a complex class structure.

Abstract

Indonesia's palm oil sector faces a fundamental paradox between its significant economic contribution to development and community welfare and its substantial socio-ecological impacts, such as deforestation, land conflicts, and spatial injustice. This study aims to analyze the challenges in implementing sustainable palm oil spatial planning through a critical anthropological approach. The method used is a qualitative literature review with thematic synthesis of various scientific studies, policy documents, and recent empirical studies. The research results identified five main challenges, namely the process of technicization that depoliticizes agrarian conflicts, the mismatch of scale between administrative boundaries and socio-ecological systems, the contestation between state-planned spaces and spaces lived by communities, spatial injustice in distributive, procedural, and recognition dimensions, as well as governance fragmentation. The findings indicate that the technocratic approach in spatial planning risks becoming an instrument that conceals structural issues and maintains inequalities, including the marginalization of indigenous community rights. Therefore, a more inclusive, integrated, and spatial justice-based spatial planning approach is needed, emphasizing the recognition of rights, community participation, and cross-scale and sectoral coordination to achieve sustainability that is not only focused on ecological aspects but also social and intergenerational justice.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of gender diversity and company size on the sustainability of the financial performance of companies in the property and real estate sector listed on the IDX in the 2022-2024 period. This research employed a quantitative approach using panel data regression analysis. The population consisted of all property and real estate companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, with the sampling technique using a census method. A total of 35 companies were selected, resulting in 105 observations. Secondary data were collected through documentation techniques using annual financial reports obtained from the official website of the Indonesia Stock Exchange and each company’s website. The findings indicate that partially, gender diversity has a negative but insignificant effect on financial performance, while firm size has a positive but insignificant effect on financial performance. Simultaneously, gender diversity and firm size influence financial performance. These findings emphasize the importance of corporate governance structures and company characteristics in supporting corporate financial performance. This study is limited to property and real estate companies during the 2022–2024 period. Future research is recommended to include additional variables and broader research objects.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of debt level and female director gender on the profitability of companies in the Food & Beverage sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2022–2024 period. Profitability is measured using Return on Assets (ROA), the debt level is proxied by the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), while female director gender is measured using a dummy variable. This study employs a quantitative method with a panel data approach involving 20 companies, resulting in a total of 60 observations. Panel data regression is used as the analytical technique. The results indicate that the debt level and female director gender simultaneously affect corporate profitability. Partially, each variable also shows a significant effect on profitability. These findings indicate that optimal debt structure management and the presence of female directors on the board play an important role in improving corporate financial performance.

Abstract

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Mendale Village Council in Central Aceh Regency has faced a range of public service challenges, including the low uptake of technology by village officials. This study aims to develop and implement an e-government-based Integrated Village Information System (SIMADU) in Mendale Village, Central Aceh Regency, to improve the quality of village public services. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). Qualitative data from interviews and FGDs were analysed using NVivo software to identify the needs and issues regarding village services. The results indicate that the Mendale Village Government requires an integrated information system to address administrative services that remain manual, limited transparency of information, and suboptimal management of BUMDes and tourism potential. SIMADU was developed and implemented through the stages of system planning, training for village officials, demonstrations, and implementation. This research produced a concept for the SIMADU website that integrates administrative services, BUMDes management, tourism information, health services, and cultural information as a model for digital-based public services at the village level.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the persistence of trading practices that are not fully aligned with sharia principles, such as dishonesty and unfairness in transactions. The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of religiosity and Islamic business ethics knowledge on the business behavior of Muslim traders at Pasar Merdeka Samarinda. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consists of all Muslim traders operating in the market, totaling 367 individuals. The sample comprises 79 respondents, determined using the Slovin formula with a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using ordinal logistic regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The results indicate that religiosity has a positive and significant effect on the business behavior of Muslim traders. In addition, knowledge of Islamic business ethics also has a positive and significant influence in shaping business behavior in accordance with sharia principles. Simultaneously, both variables play an important role in encouraging honest, trustworthy, responsible, and fair trading practices. Practically, this study implies that improving religiosity and understanding of Islamic business ethics are essential in promoting ethical trading practices in traditional markets. However, this study is limited by the relatively small sample size and its focus on a single location, thus limiting the generalizability of the findings to other contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to critically examine public attributions that tend to simplify the causes of flash floods and hydrometeorological disasters in Indonesia by linking them solely to oil palm plantations. The study employed a qualitative literature review of scientific articles, research reports, and relevant documents from 2020–2025. Data were analyzed using content analysis and narrative synthesis techniques to identify the relationship between climate change, environmental factors, and social dynamics in flooding events. The study results indicate that flash floods occur widely, including in areas without oil palm plantations, such as Java and coastal urban areas. The main factors influencing flooding include extreme rainfall, urbanization, land subsidence, spatial planning damage, and anthropogenic climate change. The literature also indicates that not all oil palm plantations are the primary cause of deforestation, as some are developed on degraded land. This study emphasizes the importance of a science-based approach and systems thinking in understanding disaster risk, enabling more objective and sustainable public communication and environmental policy development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the form and implementation of MSME-based banking Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), MSME customers' experiences with the program, and its implications for customer satisfaction in Southeast Sulawesi. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Five informants were selected purposively, consisting of the bank branch manager, the person in charge of CSR or MSME empowerment, two MSME customers receiving the program, and one account officer/customer service. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that MSME-based banking CSR is realized through business training, financial literacy, business mentoring, production facility assistance, and product promotion facilitation. MSME customers responded positively because the program was considered to be appropriate to their needs, provided real benefits, and supported by good service. This experience contributed to customer satisfaction, which was reflected in increased trust, comfort, emotional closeness, and loyalty to continue using the bank's services and recommending it to others. This finding confirms that customer experience is an important factor linking CSR implementation with customer satisfaction, so that the sustainability of the program and the quality of bank-customer interactions need to be continuously strengthened.

Abstract

Cold powder is a traditional cosmetic made from natural ingredients that is still widely used; however, formulation development and quality evaluation, particularly microbiological aspects, require further attention. This study aimed to formulate and evaluate the quality of cold powder containing Erythrina subumbrans leaf extract, including physical quality and microbiological tests. This study used an experimental method with four formulations, namely F0 (0%), F1 (3%), F2 (6%) and F3 (9%) extract concentrations. Physical quality evaluation included organoleptic testing, homogeneity, pH, moisture content, stability, adhesion, and hedonic testing, while microbiological testing was performed through Total Plate Count (TPC) and Yeast and Mold Count (YMC). The results showed that all formulations exhibited different physical characteristics. The pH values were within the acceptable range for topical preparations, while the moisture content test indicated that F3 exceeded the permissible limit. All formulations did not meet the requirements for homogeneity and adhesion. The hedonic test showed that formulation F2 (6%) had the highest acceptance level. Microbiological testing revealed that all formulations exceeded the acceptable limits for TPC and YMC, indicating that they did not meet the safety requirements according to BPOM standards. In conclusion, cold powder containing Erythrina subumbrans leaf extract was successfully formulated; however, not all formulations met the physical quality and microbiological safety requirements. Formulation F2 showed the most potential for further development with improvements in quality and safety aspects

Abstract

This study aims to construct the values of the Pancasila in the Pasola tradition as a representation of the local wisdom of the Sumba community. The study used a qualitative approach with a critical ethnographic method, conducted in the Kodi region of Sumba Barat Daya. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan studi dokumentasi, dan dianalisis dengan model Miles, Huberman, dan Saldaña, dengan menggunakan analisis tematik dan konstruksi sosial. The results of the study show that Pasola contains religious values, social solidarity, leadership, conflict resolution, and a balance between humans and nature, which are rooted in the Marapu belief system. Pasola also represents the five principles of the Indonesian national philosophy, Pancasila: Ketuhanan (religiousness), Kemanusiaan (humanity), Persatuan (unity), Kerakyatan (democracy), and Keadilan Sosial (social justice). The process of constructing these values takes place through the stages of externalisation, objectification, and internalisation in the lives of the community. This study confirms that the values of the Pancasila are deeply rooted in local traditions and shows the potential of Pasola as a source of contextual learning in the teaching of the Pancasila based on ethnopedagogy to strengthen the character and cultural identity of students
