Abstract

This study aims to examine the contribution of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (IOP) in developing a more humane, effective, and sustainable performance management system. The approach used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that the integration of IOP principles is able to form a performance management system that not only assesses work achievements quantitatively, but also considers aspects of motivation, perceptions of fairness, two-way communication in feedback, and a supportive work culture. In addition, the psychological approach to performance management has been shown to contribute to reducing resistance to change, improving psychological well-being, and strengthening employee loyalty to the organization. Thus, IOP plays an important role in creating a holistic and adaptive performance management system to the dynamics of modern organizations. This study recommends that organizations be more proactive in integrating IOP principles in the design and implementation of performance management systems to improve work effectiveness and productivity sustainably.

Abstract

Overthinking or the tendency to overthink is a psychological phenomenon that is increasingly common in modern society. This study aims to deeply understand the individual experience in dealing with overthinking and the psychological strategies used to overcome it. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 8 informants aged 20–35 years who had participated in interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, or other relaxation techniques. The results of thematic analysis showed that overthinking was triggered by uncertainty about the future, social pressure, and fear of failure, and had an impact on mental and physical health. The strategies used included cognitive (cognitive restructuring, journaling), emotional (mindfulness, meditation), and behavioral (diversionary activities, healthy routines) approaches. Although effective, these strategies have limitations in terms of consistency and social support. This study emphasizes the importance of an integrative approach based on CBT and mindfulness in overcoming overthinking and encouraging mental health policies that are more responsive to the psychosocial dynamics of modern society

Abstract

Main Character Syndrome (MCS) is a psychological phenomenon in which individuals tend to see themselves as the main characters in life, often in an exaggerated and dramatic manner. In the era of social media, this phenomenon is increasingly prevalent, influenced by digital algorithms that reinforce narcissistic mindsets and the search for social validation. This article examines various manifestations of MCS in social interactions and their impact on interpersonal relationships. Using qualitative methods based on literature analysis, this study found that MCS can enhance self-expression but also trigger problems in empathy and social connectedness. Therefore, it is important to understand the balance between individuality and social awareness in everyday life.

Abstract

The concepts of Soft Life and Hard Life are two approaches to life that are gaining increasing attention in contemporary psychology, particularly in relation to the search for happiness, meaning in life, and psychological well-being. The Soft Life Mentality focuses on comfort, luxury, and stress avoidance, which in the short term can increase emotional calm and reduce anxiety. However, if overly dominated by a comfort orientation, this lifestyle risks creating a sense of emptiness and a loss of deeper meaning in life. In contrast, the Hard Life Mentality emphasizes struggle, perseverance, and hard work as the path to significant achievement. This approach often produces a more lasting sense of satisfaction and eudaimonic happiness, but also carries the risk of stress, burnout, and physical and mental health disorders if not balanced with self-healing. This study used qualitative methods with literature analysis of various academic sources regarding the relationship between these two mentalities and quality of life, coping mechanisms, and theories of hedonic and eudaimonic happiness. The results indicate that a balance between Soft Life and Hard Life is key to achieving more holistic happiness. Integrating the two not only improves an individual's emotional well-being but also strengthens social relationships and builds a foundation for more sustainable, long-term happiness..

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of competency-based talent management and its impact on employee psychological outcomes in State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). The research method used is a qualitative case study design, through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and document analysis, with purposive selection of informants involving HR managers, unit leaders, and employees participating in the talent management program. The results show that the implementation of competency-based talent management has a positive effect on motivation, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. The main supporting factors include management support, career path transparency, and a merit-based organizational culture. However, obstacles that arise include long bureaucracy, limited resources, and nepotism practices. This study confirms that the effectiveness of competency-based talent management is not only related to organizational performance, but also contributes significantly to employee psychological well-being.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of technological fatigue (tech fatigue) and job demands on employee burnout in the digital era. The rapid adoption of digital technologies has transformed work practices, but it has also created new challenges for employee well-being. Using a quantitative explanatory design, data were collected from 120 employees in technology-based and service industries through an online survey. The instruments consisted of validated scales measuring tech fatigue, job demands, and burnout, with responses assessed using a five-point Likert scale. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were applied to test the hypotheses. The findings reveal that both tech fatigue (β = 0.41, p < 0.01) and job demands (β = 0.37, p < 0.01) significantly and positively affect burnout. Together, these variables explain 52% of the variance in employee burnout. The results highlight that burnout in the digital age is not solely driven by traditional workload factors, but also by excessive exposure to digital technology. This study contributes to the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) framework by emphasizing tech fatigue as a contemporary factor influencing burnout. Practically, the findings suggest that organizations should implement preventive strategies such as workload management, digital well-being programs, and organizational support systems to reduce burnout risk. Future research may adopt longitudinal designs, include moderating variables such as organizational support, and explore cross-industry comparisons to deepen understanding of digital-age burnout.

Abstract

The creative industry is highly dependent on digital technology, making workers vulnerable to technostress, which can lead to burnout and decreased innovation. This study aims to analyze the relationship between technostress, burnout, and employee innovation in the creative industry. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design, involving 300 respondents working in various creative sectors such as advertising, graphic design, digital marketing, animation, and film. Data were collected through a structured online questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that technostress has a significant positive effect on burnout, while burnout has a negative impact on employee innovation. In addition, technostress also has a direct negative effect on employee innovation. Further mediation tests reveal that burnout partially mediates the relationship between technostress and employee innovation. These findings highlight the dual role of technostress as a direct and indirect determinant of employee innovation through burnout. Theoretically, this study contributes to the expansion of the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) Model in the context of digital work. Practically, it suggests that organizations in the creative industry adopt strategies to reduce technostress and effectively manage burnout in order to maintain and enhance employees' innovative capacity.
