Abstract

The Batu Tulis area in Bogor is a historical site that contains traces of the Pakuan Pajajaran Palace, a large kingdom that once existed among the Sunda Tatars. This research aims to uncover the cultural values that still remain in the area through "blusukan" activities, namely direct exploration in the field. The research method used is a qualitative approach with participant observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and literature study. Observations were carried out at various historical sites in Batu Tulis, including the Batu Tulis Inscription, the Runjungpati Site, and a number of building ruins which are believed to be part of the Pakuan Pajajaran Palace. The research results show that the remains of the Pakuan Pajajaran Palace in Batu Tulis not only have high historical value, but also hold various important cultural values. These values include the heritage of traditional Sundanese architecture, mythology, and folklore related to the Pakuan Pajajaran Palace, as well as the local community's religious and spiritual practices. Apart from that, the Batu Tulis area is also a symbol of identity and pride for the people of Bogor, who continue to strive to preserve and introduce this cultural heritage to the younger generation and tourists. Blusukan, as an exploration method, has proven to be effective in digging up in-depth and authentic information about historical sites. Direct interaction with site caretakers, community leaders, and visitors provides richer insight into the cultural and historical meaning contained within. This research also found great potential for developing cultural tourism in Batu Tulis, which can increase awareness and appreciation of the cultural heritage of the Pakuan Pajajaran Palace. This research recommends the need for collaborative efforts between the government, local communities, and academics to develop educational and sustainable cultural tourism programs. Also, improving facilities and infrastructure in the Batu Tulis area is needed to support tourist comfort and safety. In this way, it is hoped that the cultural values of the Pakuan Pajajaran Palace can continue to be preserved and benefit the wider community.

Abstract

The traditional celebrations of Indonesia exhibit a wide range of variations, reflecting the diverse ethnic groups present in the country. One such custom is the practice of Motayok traditional rites. The Mentayok traditional ritual in cultural heritage management is rooted in the belief in supernatural forces that are believed to have the power to heal diseases and safeguard the tribe from different plagues. The ceremony follows a ritualistic musical dance, accompanied by singing, that induces a trance-like state in the dancer, allowing them to invoke spirits. This ceremony has been practiced since the 1600s. The Mokokapoi is responsible for summoning spirits while also serving as the guide during the ceremony. Typically, Mokokapoi is the spouse of the lady selected to be possessed. Totenden, as a mediator and supporter of the ritual, will join Bolian in singing the Bandit (song verses). Motayok's vocal performance and choreography will be enhanced by the rhythmic resonance of gongs and the skillful manipulation of dreadlocks by Mototobog. The Motayok traditional ceremony is seen as a form of double god or shirk. Presently, the Motayok traditional ceremony is exclusively observed in Bilalang Bersatu Village and Tudu Aog Village. There should be no necessity for the eradication of this heritage. Motayok, traditionally perceived as a mystical rite dedicated to deity veneration, is, in fact, a variant of psychotherapeutic intervention.

Abstract

In the era of digital development, the voluntourism phenomenon has undergone significant changes along with technological transformation. Voluntourism has become a rapidly growing global phenomenon, combining travel with participation in volunteer activities to impact local communities positively. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach to gain a deeper understanding of a phenomenon that has not been well-researched before. The data collection method used in this study is literature. Literature studies will be carried out by tracking documents, such as scientific journals, articles, and documents related to voluntourism and social media related to Voluntrip. The results of the literature review show that with the development of digital, Generation Z currently prefers tourism oriented towards the local environment and authentic tourism. This is because, in addition to having high social and environmental awareness, today's generation of young people wants a memorable experience. While digital technology provides opportunities for broader collaboration and participation, its massive use also brings challenges, primarily related to the risk of commodification. Commodification practices in voluntourism can result in the objectification of local communities, negatively impacting their psychological and economic well-being.
