Abstract

Background. Adolescent consumption patterns are influenced by the rise of social media platforms, such as TikTok Shop, which combine entertainment and shopping on a single platform. Aims. This study investigates the impact of impulse buying on TikTok Shop on the fashion consumption behavior of female students at SMK Negeri 2 in Cirebon City. Methods. The study employed a quantitative method and involved 77 respondents, selected using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error. Data were collected via a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS 2023 through validity, reliability, normality, linearity, and simple linear regression tests. Result. The analysis results indicate that impulse buying has a significant influence on consumption behavior. This means that the higher the students’ tendency to make impulsive purchases, the higher their consumption behavior. There is a significant and positive relationship between the tendency toward impulse buying and the students’ consumer behavior, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.548 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.301. This implies that a one-unit increase in impulse buying will increase consumer behavior by 0.451, in accordance with the regression equation Y = 7.621 + 0.451X. Conclusion. The results of this study are expected to help parents, educators, and digital marketers understand how social media, particularly TikTok, influences adolescent consumption behavior. Implementation. These findings can also serve as a reference for teaching adolescents about financial literacy and how to exercise self-control while shopping in the internet age.

Abstract

Public services are a concrete expression of the state’s desire to actively exercise the administrative rights of its residents. This study aims to analyse the quality of licensing services at the Cirebon City Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP) with the SERVQUAL theoretical framework which consists of 5 basic indicators, namely physical evidence, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy. This research is descriptive qualitative research with the support of the Community Satisfaction Survey 2025 with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and data triangulation. The result of this study indicates that the Cirebon City DPMPTSP has been responsive and community-oriented in the provision of licensing services. The benefits of this service can be seen from the professionalism of the apparatus, transparency of costs, timeliness of completion, the use of digital technology (OSS, PTSP Mandiri, and Dashboard Monitoring), and the empathetic assistance for the applicant. However, there are still limitations in physical facilities and infrastructure, which have been compensated by significant improvement in service digitalisation. The findings of this study show that Cirebon City DPMPTSP is able to provide efficient, accountable and humane public services despite the budget constraints, by putting community as the main beneficiary of the service and maintaining the dignity of every applicant as a citizen who is entitled to quality services.

Abstract

Background. Advances in communication technology have propelled social media into a primary space for information exchange and the formation of digital relationships. In this context, influencers play a strategic role in fostering interactions with their audience through communication patterns on Instagram. This study stems from the scarcity of research that specifically examines the communication styles of micro-influencers, particularly in their efforts to create sustainable interactions with followers. Aims. This study aims to examine communication styles and interaction forms, and to identify the most prominent communication style on the Instagram account @thifalislami. Methods. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. Informants were selected through purposive sampling, involving the influencer as the primary informant and several followers as supporting informants. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Result. The results of the study indicate that influencers employ communication styles that are friendly, open, relaxed, expressive, and animated, with the “open” style being the most dominant. Conclusion. Interactions are built through posted content, captions, comment sections, and the “Story” feature, which helps foster authentic and sustained relationships with followers.

Abstract

Background. Waste management remains a serious environmental issue in rural areas, including in Cimohong Village, Bulakamba Subdistrict, Brebes Regency. Low levels of public awareness and participation in waste management have led to waste accumulation and environmental pollution, negatively affecting the community's health and social conditions. Aims. This study aims to examine the level of public awareness and participation in waste management, identify the factors contributing to low community involvement, and analyze efforts to improve community-based waste management. This study employs Soetomo’s theory of community participation, which encompasses the dimensions of planning, implementation, utilization of results, and program evaluation. Methods. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results indicate that public awareness remains low, as evidenced by the habit of indiscriminately discarding and burning waste, as well as by the lack of separation between organic and inorganic waste. Result. The contributing factors include sociocultural, economic, and educational factors, weak institutional capacity, limited waste collection facilities, and insufficient environmental education. Conclusion. Efforts undertaken include increasing public awareness, providing waste management facilities, and strengthening the role of village governments as well as community participation.

Abstract

Aims. This study aims to analyze the semiotics in the anime *Attack on Titan* as a sign of power on the Bstation app. Produced by WIT Studio in the first season and MAPPA Studio in the final season, directed by Tetsuro Araki in the first season and Yuichiro Hayashi in the final season, it is adapted from the manga by Hajime Isayama. Methods. This study employs Roland Barthes’ semiotic method within the framework of the Order of Signification, which divides meaning into two stages: denotation—such as military control of evacuations, battles between soldiers and Titans, the king’s presence on the throne, the use of the Founding Titan’s power, Eren’s transformation into a Titan, dialogues rejecting authority, and the Rumbling event that devastated vast regions— Connotation, which carries deeper meanings regarding power relations, domination, and legitimacy. Result. The military is interpreted as a symbol of social control; the death of soldiers reflects individual sacrifice within the system; the puppet king signifies the illusion of formal legitimacy; the manipulation of memory demonstrates control over collective consciousness; Eren’s transformation affirms a shift of power into the individual realm; while the Rumbling represents destructive supremacy. Myths such as heroism, state authority, and individual freedom reveal how power operates, both structurally and personally. Conclusion. The units of analysis in this study consist of key scenes in the anime Attack on Titan that signify practices and power relations, with data sources comprising visual documentation and dialogue from episodes on the Bstation app.

Abstract

Aims. This study aims to analyze semiotics in the anime A Silent Voice as a representation of bullying on the Bstation app from Kyoto Animation studio. Methods. Directed by Naoko Yamada, this study uses Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics theory, which consists of three elements of meaning or the Triangle of Meaning, namely Sign, Object, and Interpreter, using several data or scenes in the anime “A Silent Voice” as units of analysis, as well as using information sources in the form of documentation from the anime “A Silent Voice”. Result. The results of the study show that the anime “A Silent Voice” has a meaning of bullying categorized into three types, from Signs such as hearing aids, the “X” symbol, body gestures, representations of teacher authority, and the arrangement of space and atmosphere that function as signs that mediate the characters' experiences. The Object includes sensory disabilities, social rejection, group interaction mechanisms, school institutional structures, and mental pressure. The Interpreter includes the construction of differences, internalization of guilt, experiences of isolation, and psychological trauma. Conclusion. This anime can bring positive values to the audience watching the film by showing how bullying can be seen from the dimensions of Signs, Objects, and Interpreters by identifying and observing each scene shown in the film on the two characters, Shoko Nishimiya and Shoya Ishida.

Abstract

Background. This research is motivated by the urgency of emotional intelligence as a basis for open communication within the family, especially in coastal communities in Karangampel Village, Indramayu Regency, which tend to adhere to traditional parenting patterns. Aims. This study aimed to identify how the dimensions of parental emotional intelligence (self-awareness, empathy, social skills) affect the child's willingness to communicate openly. Methods. The study used a qualitative case study design, involving three family units (parents and adolescents aged 14–18 years) selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, and the data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, & Saldaña. Result. The results of the study show that parental self-awareness is manifested in taking post-conflict pauses, but without explicit communication, children interpret it as avoidance; empathy through past reflection helps parents understand the child's behavior as a normal part of development; As well as social skills in the form of physical touch and soft tone encourage children's courage to open up. Conclusion. This study concludes that parents' emotional intelligence plays an important role in opening communication, with practical implications for strengthening PUSPAGA services in coastal areas.

Abstract

Background. The quality of population administration services is a critical determinant of public trust and effective governance, particularly in the issuance of birth and death certificates, which serve as essential legal documents. Despite improvements in Indonesia's public service performance, disparities in service quality remain evident at the local government level. Aims. This study aims to analyze the quality of birth and death certificate services at the Majalengka Regency Population and Civil Registration Office using the SERVQUAL framework. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through semi-structured interviews, direct observations, and document analysis. Informants included service officers, service users, and village- level administrative representatives. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while credibility was enhanced through source and method triangulation. Result. The findings indicate that service quality generally falls within the good to fairly good categories across the five SERVQUAL dimensions. Reliability and assurance emerged as the strongest dimensions, supported by standardized operating procedures, competent personnel, electronic verification, and digital signature systems that ensure service accuracy and legal certainty. In contrast, tangibles, responsiveness, and empathy remain constrained by limited physical facilities, high service demand, technical disruptions, and human resource capacity during peak service periods. Conclusion. The study demonstrates that institutionalized service systems contribute to more consistent service quality than dimensions that rely primarily on individual staff performance. Implication. These findings extend the application of SERVQUAL as a qualitative analytical framework in public administration and provide practical recommendations for strengthening infrastructure, human resource capacity, and interagency coordination to improve the consistency and sustainability of civil registration services.
