Abstract

This research reconstructs the concept of the ideal human being in Aristotelian philosophy and formulates its implications for contemporary character education. The study is grounded in modern educational challenges that require not only intellectual mastery but also the cultivation of complete character based on virtue. Using library research with a hermeneutic approach, this study critically interprets Aristotle’s key concepts, particularly eudaimonia, phronesis, and virtue ethics, and contextualizes them within current educational needs. Data were collected from relevant primary and secondary literature and analyzed through thematic and conceptual analysis to identify the relationship between Aristotelian ideas and character education. The findings show that the ideal human being, according to Aristotle, is one who achieves eudaimonia through the balanced development of moral and intellectual virtues, guided by phronesis as practical wisdom. Education is therefore understood as a gradual process of character formation through habituation, experience, role modeling, reflection, and ethical deliberation. This study proposes five strategies for Aristotelian character education: virtue habituation, experiential learning, educator role modeling, ethical deliberation, and context-based integral education. The study contributes a virtue-based educational model that emphasizes wisdom, responsibility, virtue, and the realization of the good life within society.

Abstract

Resource disparities frequently configure relationships between sending and receiving churches as one-way aid. Such a pattern may reduce local communities to program objects despite their existing faith, contextual knowledge, experience, and gifts. This article examines Romans 1:11 12 and asks how the passage disrupts one-way missionary relations and shapes a reciprocal model of mission for Indonesian churches. The study employs socio-rhetorical exegesis by examining inner texture, intertexture, social-cultural texture, ideological texture, and sacred texture. The findings show that Romans 1:11 affirms Paul’s apostolic contribution through a charisma pneumatikon, yet Romans 1:12 qualifies the direction of giving through symparaklēthēnai and en allēlois. Paul is not merely a giver; he recognizes the congregation’s faith as a means through which he himself will be strengthened. The article names this pattern charismatic mutuality: differentiated roles remain, but no missionary centre monopolizes divine gifts. This reading generates a missionary model of listening, receiving, sharing, mutual strengthening, and growing together. The model treats local churches as theological and missionary subjects rather than passive recipients.

Abstract

The church, which is called to fulfill Christ’s mission of protecting, listening to, and healing the wounded, has often become a source of secondary trauma due to the misuse of spiritual authority, theological discourse, and institutional governance power. This study aims to construct a trauma-informed church theology by identifying forms of re-traumatization and developing a framework for healing communities. The study employs three research methods: qualitative documentary research, constructive theology, and the critical correlational method. The analysis engages with five interdisciplinary theories, including trauma theology, and examines four theological foundations, including solidarity Christology. The findings reveal five major triggers of re-traumatization: forced obedience, victim-blaming, coerced forgiveness, closed internal case handling, and institutional reputation protection. This study proposes a healing community model based on six essential pillars, including survivor safety and survivor agency, as a theological and practical response to trauma within church institutions. The proposed framework emphasizes accountability, compassion, and restoration as central elements of church ministry.

Abstract

Public demand for transparency from religious organizations has continued to rise in recent years, requiring church finances to be subject to both public regulatory oversight and internal accountability mechanisms. This study examines Indonesia’s neo-Pentecostal churches as its research object and employs a conceptual analysis approach to establish a critical dialogue between theological perspectives and contemporary governance literature. The study explores how theological claims influence financial decision-making processes and identifies three categories of theological claims that may limit external scrutiny and accountability. Furthermore, the findings reveal that four categories of theological claims have the potential to legitimize excessive authority among church leaders, thereby weakening three essential oversight mechanisms. Based on these findings, this research proposes a reconstructed pneumatological governance model that integrates spiritual leadership with transparent and accountable financial practices. The study argues that financial transparency is not merely an administrative requirement but a fundamental expression of ecclesiastical integrity that reflects the authenticity of a church’s claim to be guided by the Holy Spirit.

Abstract

The concept of imago Dei in Genesis 1:26–28 constitutes the theological foundation for understanding human dignity as the image and likeness of God. However, its interpretation has often been shaped by the ideology of normalcy, which associates the image of God with physical perfection, intellectual capacity, or functional ability. As a result, persons with disabilities are frequently perceived as less representative of the image of God and consequently experience marginalization within both society and the church. This study aims to reinterpret the meaning of the image and likeness of God in Genesis 1:26–28 through the perspective of Disability Hermeneutics and to examine its implications for the contemporary church. This research employs a qualitative library research method using a hermeneutical approach. The analysis focuses on the historical and theological context of Genesis 1:26–28, the meanings of the Hebrew terms tselem and demut, and their dialogue with disability theology. The findings reveal that the image and likeness of God are not determined by physical condition, intellectual ability, or functional capacity, but rather by God's gracious act of creating every human being as His representative in the world. Consequently, persons with disabilities fully bear the imago Dei. This interpretation encourages the contemporary church to move beyond the ideology of normalcy, cultivate relationships grounded in equality, and develop inclusive ministries that affirm the dignity of every human being.

Abstract

Landslides and floods are common occurrences in human life; however, it is crucial to reflect on and acknowledge that the underlying causes of these events often stem from human attitudes specifically, how humans fulfill their role as God’s stewards. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a literature-based approach to analyze the issue at hand. It aims to describe the human mandate derived from Genesis 2:15 to preserve and manage the sustainability of the universe, while also critiquing human actions that exploit nature and subsequently harm human life itself. The findings indicate that humans, as God’s creation and recipients of the mandate outlined in Genesis 2:15, bear the responsibility of safeguarding and maintaining the natural world inhabited by all living beings, including themselves. Because such disasters adversely affect human life, there is a need for an attitude of care and love toward the universe the creation God has entrusted to us. The universe must serve as a home for all living beings; humans share a bond and relationship with all of God’s creation within it, and all exist in a state of mutual interdependence.

Abstract

This research examines the transmission of faith in Christian families as a foundation for building children's spiritual resilience amid generational vulnerability. The phenomenon of religious switching and secularization among young people indicates that faith transmission does not occur automatically through church attendance or formal religious programs. This study aims to formulate a holistic and integrated model of faith transmission by combining relational, communicative, and formative dimensions. The method used is library research with content analysis and theoretical synthesis from various literatures on faith transmission, children's spiritual formation, and spiritual resilience. The findings reveal that successful faith transmission is determined by three main pillars: emotional closeness between parents and children as the foundation, intentional communication through the verbal home as the method, and meaning-making as the child's personal identity and source of spiritual resilience. This research concludes that the home is the primary locus of faith formation, and parents are its main agents. The home-based faith transmission model offers an alternative to the institutional approach that has dominated religious parenting practices. Further research is needed for the implementation of this model in the Indonesian cultural context and for the development of practical tools for parents.

Abstract

This study aims to develop catechetical and pastoral strategies for the family as Ecclesia Domestica, supporting the faith growth of Generation Z amid significant digital disruption. The issues of secularization and agnosticism, intensified by global information flows, require transforming the family's role from just a social unit into an active faith-initiating center. Using a qualitative theological and pedagogical literature review, this article examines key texts and empirical research about the spiritual dynamics of today's youth. The findings highlight three key strategies to revitalize the family's role: first, embracing "digitalization of faith" through innovative catechetical approaches like flipped catechesis, which connect Gospel sharing with the digital-native mindset; second, empowering parents as primary spiritual guides to rebuild children's self-esteem and faith motivation, often affected by virtual social pressures; third, incorporating ecological catechesis to reflect a living faith aligned with Generation Z's environmental concerns. The study concludes that youth faith resilience depends on a strong, collaborative relationship between family, church, and school. Positioning the family as a resilient domestic church ensures Gospel values serve as a credible moral guide in an ever-changing world. This synergy helps foster a generation with deep spiritual maturity, ready to witness in a secular modern society.

Abstract

This article explores the theological tension and integration between divine justice and mercy in the Old Testament. Contrary to widespread perceptions that often dichotomize the God of the Old Testament as purely wrathful or legalistic, this study argues that the Old Testament reveals a coherent theological portrayal of God as both just and compassionate. Using a qualitative-descriptive method rooted in biblical theology and intertextual analysis, the research examines legal texts, prophetic literature, and covenantal frameworks to show how God's justice operates within His steadfast love (ḥesed). The study highlights key biblical passages such as Exodus 34:6-7 and Micah 6:8 as foundations for understanding God's unified character. Further, the discussion shows how these themes find their climax in the New Testament through Jesus Christ, who embodies both justice and love. The article also reflects on the ethical implications of this theological integration, particularly for communities living in pluralistic and unjust contexts. The findings call for a balanced hermeneutical approach that avoids the extremes of fear-based legalism or sentimental universalism. Ultimately, the Old Testament does not present a divided God, but a God whose justice flows from love, and whose love upholds justice.
