Abstract

The pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton (יהוה, YHWH) is one of the most debated philological and theological issues in Old Testament studies. The loss of the pronunciation tradition stemming from Jewish reverence for the Divine Name has led to various proposed reconstructions, ranging from "Yahweh" and "Jehovah" to other hypotheses based on textual and linguistic evidence. This study aims to reconstruct the pronunciation of YHWH by employing philology, textual criticism, historical linguistics, and Old Testament exegesis, analyzing four primary categories of evidence: the Masoretic tradition, ancient Greek transliterations, Qumran manuscripts, and modern Hebrew linguistic studies. The research utilizes a qualitative-descriptive method based on a review of primary sources and contemporary academic literature. The findings indicate that the form "Yahweh" enjoys stronger philological support than "Jehovah" the latter having emerged from the combination of the Tetragrammaton’s consonants with the vowels of the word Adonai within the Masoretic tradition. Although absolute certainty regarding the original pronunciation is unattainable, a synthesis of the evidence suggests that the reconstruction "Yahweh" is the most academically defensible form.

Abstract

The participation of young people in church ministry is an essential aspect of sustaining the church’s mission and community dynamics. However, many churches face challenges related to low youth participation due to cultural shifts, limited program relevance, and insufficient personal approaches that address their emotional and spiritual needs. This study aims to explain the relational methods practiced by internship students as an effort to increase youth participation in church ministry. The relational approach is understood as a process of building authentic, warm, inclusive, and sustainable relationships through two-way communication and mentoring that emphasizes emotional closeness. This study employs a qualitative method with participatory observation techniques. The findings indicate that internship students can serve as effective intergenerational mediators because of their close age range, communication style that is more acceptable to young people, and ability to facilitate a safe space for dialogue. The relational approach not only increases young people’s motivation to participate but also strengthens their confidence and willingness to assume ministry responsibilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the model of youth leadership in the New Testament through the life of Timothy based on the perspective of 1 Timothy 4:12. The focus of the study is directed at understanding the leadership principles demonstrated by Timothy as a young leader entrusted by Paul to serve the congregation amidst various ministry challenges. This study uses a qualitative method with a theological analysis approach and literature study of biblical texts, theological literature, and relevant scientific sources. The results of the study indicate that youth leadership in the New Testament is not determined by age, but by character qualities, spiritual maturity, and exemplary life. Through 1 Timothy 4:12, Paul emphasizes that a young leader must be an example in speech, behavior, love, faith, and holiness. Timothy's life demonstrates that integrity and faithfulness to God's calling are the main foundations of effective Christian leadership. This study concludes that Timothy's leadership model is relevant for the church today as a basis for developing the younger generation to be able to become leaders with Christian character, responsibility, and impact on the faith community.
