Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction between the effect of liquid organic fertilizer concentration and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (CMA) on the growth and yield of red bean plants (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). The experiment was conducted in Nusaherang Village, Nusaherang District, Kuningan Regency, from July to September 2022. The research method used is the experimental method of Group Random Design (RAK) factorial pattern. The treatment consists of two factors and is repeated three times. The first factor is the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer (P), which consists of three levels, namely: P1 (5 ml / l), P2 (10 ml / l), and P3 (15 ml / l). The second factor of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (C) consists of three levels, namely: C1 (5 g / plant), C2 (10 g / plant), and C3 (15 g / plant). The primary observation data is processed using variance analysis; if there is a noticeable effect, the test is continued with the Duncan multiple distance test. The results showed a real interaction between the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on plant height aged 21 HST, root length aged 21 HST, number of flowers aged 35 HST, and number of pods per red bean plant. The concentration treatment of liquid organic fertilizer has an independent effect on the number of leaves aged 21 HST. In comparison, the treatment of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi has an independent effect on the number of leaves aged 21 and 28 HST and the number of seeds per pod. The treatment of liquid organic fertilizer and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi has the same effect on yield variables, so the average weight of fresh red bean beans per plot is 626 g (0.63 kg) or equivalent to 1.6 tons/ha, assuming 80% of the land is effective.

Abstract

Papaya is in great demand by the public because of its sweet taste and abundant vitamin and mineral content. The problem is that in recent years papaya productivity has fluctuated due to poor soil structure and lack of nutrients in the soil, which results in poor seed growth and unqualified seedlings, so efforts need to be made to find the right type of planting media to support papaya nurseries, one of which is with vermicompost fertilizer. This experiment aims to determine the effect of the proportion of vermicompost fertilizer in the planting medium on the growth of china cultivar papaya seedlings. The research method used was a completely randomized design with six treatments consisting of K0 = 100% soil and 0% vermicompost fertilizer (control), K1 = 80% soil and 60% vermicompost fertilizer, K2 = 60% soil and 40% vermicompost fertilizer, K3 = 40% soil and 60% vermicompost fertilizer, K4 = 20% soil and 80% vermicompost fertilizer and K5 = 0% soil and 100% vermicompost fertilizer. The experimental results showed a significant effect on the proportion of vermicompost fertilizer on plant growth rate and root length of plants aged 15, 30, and 45 DAP, as well as root volume, stem diameter, plant height, number of leaves, fresh weight and dry weight of plants aged 30, 45 and 60 DAP but not significantly different from the observation of plant growth capacity aged 7 and 14 DAP.

Abstract

Weed control by weeding is the safest alternative but requires a lot of labor and costs. Therefore, knowledge about the critical period for soybean plants against weeds is necessary so that weeding can be done timely and efficiently. This study aimed to determine the effect of weeding time on the growth and yield of soybean and critical period to weeds. The study was conducted in Mekarjaya Village, Gantar District, Indramayu Regency, from September to December 2023. The experimental design was Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The treatments tested were the time of weeding which consisted of nine levels: weeds free, weeding at 3 weeks after planting (WAP), weeding at 4 WAP, weeding at 5 WAP, weeding at 6 WAP, weeding at 7 WAP, weeding at 8 WAP, B9 = not weeded. All treatments were repeated three time. The results showed that the time of weeding treatment had no significant effect on growth component but had a significant effect to yield components and yield of soybean. The time of weeding treatment showed that the critical period for soybean cultivar Dena 2 occurred at 0-9 WAP with a yield loss due to weed competition of 8.87% to 27%.
