Abstract

This study aims to explore how mini podcasts are used as thematic learning media in grades 4–6 of elementary school, as well as their impact on learning attention, class discussions, and student independence. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, learning documentation, and field observations at MI Bustanul Ulum 01. The analysis was carried out thematically using the Miles and Huberman model, which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study show that mini podcasts can increase students' initial focus, create a conducive learning atmosphere, and strengthen material retention. Additionally, these media encourage active participation in thematic discussions and enable students to learn independently outside of class hours. The study's implications suggest that mini podcasts are an effective alternative medium relevant for application in elementary schools, particularly in areas with technological limitations. These findings make an empirical and practical contribution to the development of audio learning media that is contextual and integrated with thematic approaches.

Abstract

The phenomenon of difficulty for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students in determining the title of their thesis in English indicates the existence of complex academic problems in the early stages of research. This study aims to analyze in depth the factors that affect these difficulties and understand the dynamics of student experience in formulating research titles. This study departs from the reality of low academic literacy, conceptual confusion, and dependence on supervisors which often hinder the process of determining titles. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type, through in-depth interview techniques, documentation, and findings in the field. The results of the study show that the limitation of academic literacy causes students to have difficulty identifying research gaps, while conceptual confusion hinders the sharpening of the focus of the study, and dependence on lecturers reduces academic independence. These three factors are interrelated and form a pattern of recurring difficulties. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of strengthening scientific literacy, developing conceptual skills, and creating a more dialogical guidance pattern to improve the quality of determining the thesis title of EFL students in a more systematic and reflective manner.

Abstract

The practice of rewarding students in Islamic boarding schools often remains merely symbolic and has yet to foster meaningful experiences. This gap opens up opportunities to explore how recreational activities can serve as a more dynamic and sustainable motivator for students. This study aims to analyze the role of recreational rewards in shaping the motivation of high-achieving students at PPATQ Raudlatul Falah Pati. The approach used is a qualitative case study involving observations of more than 500 students, interviews with one kiai, four ustaz, five students, and five parents, and an analysis of academic documents and tahfidz achievements. The results indicate that recreation-based rewards function as multidimensional motivators. Academically, students ranked 1–5 demonstrated improved learning strategies and consistent achievement. Regarding Quran memorization, twice-yearly exams fostered a more structured review routine. In the social sphere, participation in boarding school activities, such as haflah, expanded the meaning of achievement beyond the classroom. Meanwhile, indicators of punctuality through early arrival formed a new habitus supported by families. Recreation became an anticipated emotional experience and a symbol of collective recognition of students’ efforts. Its implications point toward a transformation of the reward approach in Islamic boarding schools from mere incentives into a pedagogical strategy that shapes character and sustains achievement.

Abstract

This study examines the practice of salim as an experiential form of character education in Indonesian primary schools. While character education is often approached through cognitive instruction and formal programs, this research explores how moral values are internalized through lived interaction embedded in school culture. Using a qualitative ethnographic design, the study was conducted over four years in three primary schools in Demak Regency, involving teachers, students, and parents as participants. Data were collected through prolonged participant engagement, in-depth interviews, documentation, and reflective field notes, and analyzed thematically to capture recurring patterns of meaning. The findings reveal that salim functions as a holistic pedagogical practice that cultivates adab, strengthens emotional relationships, and develops tawadhu through repeated, embodied interaction. Rather than operating as a symbolic gesture, salim becomes a medium through which respect, care, and humility are enacted and gradually internalized. The study highlights that character formation emerges from sustained social practice rather than isolated instruction. These findings suggest the importance of recognizing culturally grounded practices as meaningful pathways for character education, offering an alternative approach that integrates behavioral, emotional, and spiritual dimensions within everyday learning environments.

Abstract

This study investigates how artificial intelligence (AI) supports students’ self-regulated writing (SRW) practices in academic contexts, particularly in thesis writing. Adopting a qualitative case study design, the research involved six final-year students in an English Language Education program, selected through purposive sampling to represent varying levels of AI reliance. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The findings indicate that students predominantly use AI tools for text-processing tasks such as grammar correction, paraphrasing, and translation, which contribute to improved writing accuracy, efficiency, and confidence. However, AI is less consistently utilized for higher-order processes, including idea development and progress monitoring, reflecting varied levels of metacognitive engagement. The results also reveal that students strongly prefer combining AI-generated feedback with input from teachers and peers, particularly for conceptual and substantive revisions. While AI enhances motivation and supports certain aspects of self-regulation, concerns about over-reliance and reduced critical engagement persist. These findings suggest that AI functions most effectively as a complementary tool within a broader pedagogical framework rather than as a substitute for human interaction. The study highlights the importance of integrating AI literacy and metacognitive training into academic writing instruction to ensure that students can use AI tools critically and strategically.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of experiential marketing within the boarding school ecosystem and identify the key factors that enhance parental loyalty. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using data reduction, presentation, and interpretive conclusion techniques. Findings indicate that experiential marketing is not formally structured but naturally embedded in students’ spiritual, social, and academic experiences. Critical success factors include firsthand student experiences, service quality, effective communication, adherence to religious values, and the positive institutional image conveyed through documentation. These elements contribute to heightened parental satisfaction, trust, engagement, and loyalty, often manifested through recommendations and continued enrollment. The study underscores that a comprehensive, experience-based marketing strategy grounded in religious and educational values is more effective for fostering long-term parental loyalty than traditional marketing approaches, offering a practical framework for boarding schools seeking sustainable relationship-building strategies while enhancing their reputation and perceived educational quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differentiation and positioning of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) through the internalization of distinctive values as a Unique Selling Proposition (USP) to enhance the competitiveness of educational institutions. The method used was a qualitative approach with a case study design, through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation analysis of leaders, teachers, and students. The results indicate that the differentiation of Islamic boarding schools lies in the strength of distinctive values internalized in the organizational culture, such as spirituality, discipline, and integrity. These values serve as USPs that shape the institution's image and increase public trust. Furthermore, transformational leadership contributes to knowledge management, engagement strategies, and confidence building among Islamic boarding school residents, thus creating a healthy competitive culture. The implications of this study emphasize that the internalization of distinctive values must be strategically integrated into institutional management as a competitive advantage. This is crucial for strengthening the positioning of Islamic boarding schools amidst increasingly dynamic educational competition.
