Abstract

A polemic in theological discussions is a matter of the relationship between God’s chosen people for saving and preaching of the gospel. God’s choice, we know election means the act of God’s choice in selecting and assign individuals who will be saved and become a member of the body of Christ. The basic of God’s choice is character of God, especially love, wisdom, sovereignty and omniscience of God. That is why God is never wrong choice and failed. If God has set His choice, then the preaching of Gospel is not needed anymore. But if preaching of gospel does not need not implemented yet, how about some parts of the Bible states that gospel should always be reported until the end of time. There is never a conflict in the truth and work of God. He has selected individuals to be saved, but the preaching of the gospel remains a very urgent to be implemented. God has determined that the preaching of the gospel to be a means for the people of his choice to fulfill the grace of God revealed in God’s choice.

Abstract

For Christ is the end of the law. By the "law" here, is not meant the ceremonial law, of which, indeed, they were all very zealous, and of which Christ also was the end in many respects. He was the final cause of it, or that for the sake of which it was; it had not been given had it not been for him; all its institutions, ordinances, and sacrifices, were on his account: they were all shadows of him, and he the body and substance of them. Christ was the end or mark and scope at which they all aimed; every type looked to him, and every offering directed the worshipper to him; he was the terminus of it, to whom it was to reach, and beyond whom it was not to go; it was a schoolmaster for instruction and direction until Christ came, and no longer. He was the fulfilling end of it, everything in it had its accomplishment in him; and then lastly, he put an end to it, he disannulled it because of its after weakness and unprofitableness; he blotted out this hand writing of ordinances, and entirely abolished this law of commandments; but then Christ was not the end of this law for righteousness. Christ's obedience to it is no part of justifying righteousness, especially not to everyone that believes.

Abstract

The condition of poverty is often considered by some people as a curse or at least as a consequence of a lack of faith in a Christian. This is frequently understood by adherents of prosperity theology. On the other hand, there are groups that believe if someone has not experienced suffering, then their faith is still questionable. This view is commonly expressed by adherents of the theology of suffering. Is this what the truth of God's Word teaches? This article will discuss the topic of suffering in the perspective of the Bible, especially in Revelation 2:8-11.

Abstract

Jesus truly appeared as a human being in the following realities: According to the genealogy, Jesus' ancestors were traced back to Abraham (Matt 1:1-17). Jesus was born to his mother Mary, being male, wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger (Luke 2:1-7). He worked as a carpenter (Mark 6:3), could become angry (Luke 19:45), experience sadness (14:34), feel hungry (Matt 21:18), thirst (Matt 25:35), fear (Mark 22:44). The humanity of Jesus becomes profoundly evident when he had to undergo the fate experienced by all human beings, namely death (Luke 23:44-49, Mark 15:33-41, Matt 27:45-56, John 19:28-30). These various events aim to affirm that Jesus lived within human history and lived a life like that of ordinary human beings.

Abstract

The early church, or the church during the time of the apostles, was a church that grew in quantity and quality. Even though in general the environment around it was hostile towards its presence, this situation did not in any way reduce or hinder the growth that occurred in it. The church carries out its service duties in the concrete world against the backdrop of a dynamic life context. In this regard, the church is required to proactively understand and guide members of the congregation to live a life of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ correctly in the struggles of everyday life. In this case, the church is required to be able to understand and answer the concrete needs of the church community and the environment in which the church is located. One of the urgent needs is the implementation of the Great Commission by empowering the laity in their diversity to become a strong force extraordinary in church growth. It cannot be separated from the role of lay people in the growth of a church. Discipleship also plays an equally important role. Because discipleship lies at the center of the church's goal, which is to make all people like Christ.

Abstract

Nehemiah is a classic example of a leader who led by example. He led from the front, and he led from the trenches working right beside his people. Nehemiah was a high official in the Persian King's household. He could have shared his vision and then dispatched others to carry it out.

Abstract

After receiving the assignment from Jesus to be an apostle to the nations, Paul enthusiastically carried out his assignment. (Rom 11:13) On his first missionary journey, he passed through Cyprus and arrived in Asia Minor. He was driven from various cities by angry mobs, even stoned and abandoned because he was thought to be dead. However, he returned to those cities to strengthen those who had become disciples.

Abstract

Theologically, the author of the Book of Ruth focuses on the promised seed or offspring. However, when viewed from its literary form, the narrative of the Redemption of Ruth by Boaz is a unique story and filled with irony. This can be seen from the narrative of Ruth's redemption by Boaz, where someone who is obliged to redeem does not redeem, while someone who is not obliged to redeem does. It should not be Boaz who has the right to redeem Ruth. The author uses a literary approach method, where the interpreter will gain a lot of understanding of the meaning of Biblical texts and this understanding is certainly by the aims and objectives of writing the Book of Ruth. The problem formulation in this research is "What is the theological meaning of the Redemption of Ruth based on a narrative approach?" and this research aims to find out the meaning of Ruth's redemption based on a narrative approach. The results of the research show that God's grace cannot be hindered. Even though the situation during Ruth's time the Israelites experienced a moral and spiritual decline, amid that situation God came with all mercy and hesed to sinful humans.
