Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to develop a target-based training model to enhance students' fundamental skills in executing the jump service in volleyball. The primary issue identified is the low level of accuracy and consistency demonstrated by students when performing the jump service, which consequently undermines the effectiveness of initial attacks during matches. The research employs a Research and Development (RD) methodology using the ADDIE model framework, which encompasses the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The training model is constructed around engaging and competitive target-based games, such as Hit the Target, Score Zone, and Time Challenge. The participants in this study were students from SMA Negeri 1 Kota Gorontalo. Validation was conducted by two instructional design experts and one game expert, yielding an average feasibility score of 86.11%, which falls within the “highly feasible” category. A small-scale trial revealed a positive student response, with an average approval rate of 91%, indicating the model’s effectiveness in enhancing accuracy, power, and motivation in performing the jump service. The findings suggest that the target-based training model presents an innovative and effective alternative for teaching the jump service technique in secondary school volleyball education.

Abstract

Abstract

Learning strategies play a vital role in enhancing students’ acquisition of fundamental sports skills. Traditional teaching approaches often fail to maintain student motivation and engagement, particularly in skill-based subjects such as handball. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effect of the Modified Five-Stage Learning Cycle Strategy integrated with the Reciprocal Method on learning selected basic handball skills among preparatory school students. The research employed an experimental design with two equivalent groups (experimental and control). The sample consisted of fourth preparatory grade students at Al-Suwaira Boys’ Preparatory School during the academic year 2023–2024, with a total of 165 students across four sections. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS. The findings revealed that students in the experimental group who were taught using the Modified Five-Stage Learning Cycle Strategy with the Reciprocal Method showed significant improvement in passing and dribbling skills compared to their pre-test results and to the control group, as indicated by calculated t values exceeding the tabulated values at the 0.05 significance level. In conclusion, the study demonstrated that the application of the Modified Five-Stage Learning Cycle Strategy combined with the Reciprocal Method positively impacts students’ acquisition of basic handball skills. This approach fosters engagement, reduces boredom, and provides structured learning opportunities that enhance skill development. The contribution of this research lies in offering practical evidence for integrating innovative instructional strategies into physical education curricula. It recommends that educators adopt this combined method to achieve better learning outcomes in handball and potentially extend its application to other skill-based sports education contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the basic shooting technique using the instep in soccer for ninth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Kota Gorontalo through video instruction. Shooting technique is a crucial element in soccer because it can determine the outcome of a match. However, many students have not yet mastered this technique. Using video as a learning tool is expected to provide a clearer understanding of this technique. The method used in this study was classroom action research (CAR), with 30 ninth-grade students as subjects. The results showed that video instruction improved students' understanding of the instep shooting technique. Before implementing the video instruction, only 40% of students were able to perform this technique correctly, whereas after the implementation, the percentage increased to 85%. These findings indicate that video instruction can be an effective alternative in Physical Education (PJOK) learning, particularly in teaching basic soccer techniques
