Abstract

China's status as a world economic and political power affects the structure of relations in the Asia region and the global economy. Understanding China's responses to the globalized economy and its current position is a crucial intellectual exercise that offers insights into alternative economic development and governance models. China is an example of a country that has successfully developed utilizing the momentum of globalization, which many scholars overlook. This paper aims to describe China’s political-economic relations in response to globalization. A literature review method is utilized through various academic sources. This paper finds that China's tremendous productive modalities have been a significant factor in the country's march to global economic dominance. China’s accession to the WTO and sustained economic reform and restructuring efforts in the domestic political economy sphere induced a convergence towards internationally accepted financial and market interaction standards. Development milestones ranged from the sources and destination of foreign investments, export-led manufacturing, and BRI projects to green economy policies. China introduced three brand-new initiatives as a strong impetus for advancing humanity’s modernization process and building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Abstract

This research describes Indonesia’s maritime security strategy in countering illegal fishing through the Indonesia-Australia Fisheries Surveillance Forum in 2018-2022. The maritime border between Indonesia and Australia is prone to illegal fishing, which requires bilateral cooperation to resolve it. For this reason, Indonesia cooperates with Australia through the Indonesia-Australia Fisheries Surveillance Forum (IAFSF). This study uses descriptive qualitative method and the Maritime Security Strategy concept which includes Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) and new epistemic infrastructure, coordination and maritime security governance and operational coordination. The results of this research show that Indonesia’s Maritime Security Strategy within the IAFSF framework have been implemented by forming the 115 Task Force to enhance maritime domain awareness, developing a new epistemic infrastructure database of illegal fishing information, facilitating information exchange between Indonesia and Australia on illegal fishing cases, human resource capacity building for Indonesian staff, joint campaigns against illegal fishing, preparing alternative livelihoods for fishermen across the Indonesian-Australian maritime borders and Operation Gannet coordinated patrols between Bakamla and the Australian Border Force (ABF).

Abstract

This article underlines tensions between medical tourism and radical democracy in Indonesian sense. Medical tourism tends to prioritize those who have money to gain more options, yet change the ideas of medical aspects into such trivial recreations. Meanwhile, radical democracy works to realize such welfare states in which all people could reach better options in life. Radical democracy, as indicated by Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe, is analyzed through genealogy of hegemony as discourses that are used to be owned by several people are distributed to every person’s needs. Through qualitative method and explorative approach, the analysis of this paper emphasizes on how radical democracy promotes undeveloped people to have better access to basic needs but medical tourism still asks answers from capitalism itself. The discourses will only remain as dialogues while the applications of being ideational have shifted into matters of being recreational. Intertwinements of medical aspects and tourism indeed focuses on those who travel and stay, but will slowly eradicate the truth of the needs of those who need better medical assistances. In conclusion, while radical democracy would like to erode hegemony, medical tourism worsens the situation by pushing more trickle-down effects than fairness and equality before everyone.

Abstract

This study examines cases of human trafficking in TTU Regency by emphasizing cross-sector collaboration in handling human trafficking in TTU Regency. This study is very important because NTT is a province with the highest number of victims of human trafficking in Indonesia and TTU Regency is one of the regencies that contributes to a fairly large number of human trafficking and has increased every year. This study uses the collaboration theory from Ansell & Gash by narrowing it down to 4 indicators, namely: First, Face to Face Dialogue as a communication mechanism; Second, Building Trust and Commitment; Third, Shared Understanding; and Fourth, Intermediate Outcome. This theory is the edge in this study. The research method used is a case study and data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, documentation and triangulation. The informants determined in this study are SATGAS TPPO which includes: TTU Regency PPA Office, TTU Regency Manpower and Transmigration Office, Population and Civil Registration Office, TTU Regency Resort Police, TTU Regency Social Service, NGOs, Community leaders, and exmigrants. The analysis technique uses the case study analysis technique from Creswell. The results of the study indicate that in handling Human Trafficking in TTU Regency, collaboration has been carried out with the formation of the TPPO Task Force involving many regional agencies working together, but based on the perspective of Ansell & Gash's theory, this collaboration process has not been optimal in face-to-face implementation so that the process of building trust is minimal but obsessed with high commitment, thus in the implementation of the collaboration that occurs is that each Regional Apparatus Organization included in the TPPO task force tends to have a high sectoral ego and tends to be individualistic in carrying out their respective duties so that the results of this collaboration process are very difficult to evaluate.

Abstract

This study offers an in-depth comparative analysis of the voting behavior of the Madurese community in regional head elections, focusing on the differences between traditional voters influenced by kiai (Islamic scholars) and voters who tend to consider rational factors. This case study examines three main groups: the santri (religious students), the educated class, and the general public. The research is rooted in the central role of kiai within Madura's social and political structure, which has traditionally influenced election outcomes. However, recent corruption cases involving kiai who have served as regional heads raise questions about whether their influence remains or if there has been a shift in the community's voting behavior. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, conducted in four regencies: Bangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasan, and Sumenep. Data were gathered through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with key informants from the three community groups, and documentation studies. Informants were selected based on their cultural involvement and experience in the election process. The findings indicate that although kiai continue to wield significant influence, especially among the santri, there is an emerging trend toward more rational voting behavior among the educated class and the general public. Factors such as candidate quality, vision and mission, and proposed programs are increasingly considered, particularly by students. Additionally, corruption cases involving kiai have led to more critical public perceptions of kiai in politics. This study identifies four voter typologies in Madura: rational, critical, traditional, and skeptical, highlighting the complexity of voting behavior in the region
