Abstract

The head teacher's (hereinafter to be written HT) role is to foster a positive learning environment, essential for high-quality education. This qualitative research examined strategies used by HTs in three high schools in the Manzini region of Eswatini to promote effective behaviour management. One-on-one interviews were conducted with HTs from Mavalela (MV), Sidlamafa (SD), and Lomawa (LM) high schools, using pseudonyms for confidentiality. The analysis is based on the Transformational Leadership and Rogers’ Decisive Discipline Model frameworks, which explain leadership strategies and insights for creating respectful learning environments. Findings indicate that HTs prioritize respect, adherence to school policies, attendance, accountability for learner behaviour, teacher training, parental involvement, and providing necessary resources for teachers.

Abstract

This study was aimed to describe: (1) the effectiveness of learning with a blended learning model using scientific (2) the effectiveness of scientific approach; and (3) the difference in the effectiveness of learning with a blended learning model using scientific approach and learning using scientific approach in terms of critical thinking, and learning independence of mathematics students in high school. The research type is quasi-experiment. The population was all 11th grade students of SMA in semester II of 2024/2025. The sample was established randomly consisting of class XI MIA 2 as the experiment class and XI MIA 1 as the control class. The data collection method uses research instruments in the form of a Learning Independence Test of 15 multiple choice questions, a Critical Thinking Test of 4 descriptive questions, and a Learning Independence Questionnaire of 20 statement, administered as pretests and posttests. To assess the effectiveness of blended learning with a scientific approach and the scientific approach alone, a one-sample mean vector test was conducted, followed by a one-sample t-test. Differences in effectiveness were analyzed using an independent two-sample mean vector test (T² Hotelling). If analysis revealed significant differences between the two classes, an independent sample t-test for comparison was conducted. The results showed that: (1) learning with blended learning model using scientific approach is effective in terms of critical thinking, and independence of learning mathematics of high school students; (2) learning using scientific approach is effective in terms of critical thinking, and independence of learning mathematics of high school students; and (3) learning with blended learning model using scientific approach is more effective than learning using scientific approach in terms of critical thinking, and independence of learning mathematics of high school students.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of mindfulness techniques on reducing academic stress and increasing concentration in students. With increasing academic demands, many students experience stress that interferes with the learning process. Mindfulness techniques, which emphasize full awareness, have been shown to be effective in reducing anxiety and improving mental well-being. The experimental method involved two groups of students: one group implemented mindfulness techniques, while the control group received no intervention. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring levels of academic stress and concentration before and after the intervention. The results indicated that the group practicing mindfulness experienced a significant decrease in stress and an increase in concentration compared to the control group. These findings support the use of mindfulness techniques as an effective strategy to help students and recommend their integration into higher education curricula for academic well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to develop e-comic-based learning media to enhance the motivation of Grade XII students at SMA Kolombo in learning adjusting journal entries for service companies. The research employed the ADDIE development model with a control group experimental design. Media evaluations indicated that the e-comic is highly feasible, scoring 4.77 from media experts, 3.88 from material experts, and 5.27 from Accounting teachers. Data collected through observations, interviews, and questionnaires showed a significant motivation improvement in the experimental class, with average scores increasing from 90.62 to 105.69, compared to a less significant increase in the control group. An independent t-test confirmed significant differences between the groups (p < 0.05), demonstrating the e-d effectiveness. This study recommends e-comic media as an engaging, interactive, and efficient innovation to improve students' motivation in learning accounting concept..

Abstract

The challenges faced by families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps are exacerbated by the unique context of displacement. In Nigeria, the ongoing humanitarian crisis due to conflicts, natural disasters, and other socio-political factors has led to a significant increase in the number of IDPs, with many seeking refuge in camps across the South East and North Central regions. The study adopted a descriptive survey design to explore challenges faced by families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in IDP camps in South East and North Central Nigeria. A sample of 80 participants was drawn using a stratified sampling technique. Data were collected through a validated and reliable questionnaire, capturing demographic details and relevant challenges. Descriptive statistics, including mean, standard deviation, variance, and harmonic mean, were used to summarize findings, while hypotheses were tested using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Among 80 participants, most caregivers were younger than 35 years (67.5%) and unemployed (46.3%). Financial, emotional, and social challenges varied by caregivers’ age and camp duration. Families staying over 12 months reported higher financial challenges (mean = 18.67, SD = 3.98). Emotional challenges were highest for parents aged 46+ years staying 3 months (mean = 21.67). Social challenges followed similar patterns. ANOVA results showed no significant differences in challenges across groups, emphasizing universal difficulties faced by families. The findings emphasize the urgent need for targeted interventions, including increased awareness campaigns, capacity-building programs for caregivers, and improved access to essential services such as therapy, education, and mental health support within IDP camps.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine how much income affects teacher work discipline in all MTS throughout south Bolaang Mongondow, A quantitative approach was adopted, utilizing a descriptive quantitative method with a sample size of 38 teachers. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis was performed using simple regression analysis. The study's results reveal a positive and significant relationship between income and teacher work discipline in all MTS throughout South Bolaang Mongondow. The coefficient of determination obtained from the regression model is 0,587, indicating that 58.7% of the variability in work discipline is explained by income. In other words, higher income correlates with iproved work discipline among teachers. Meanwhile, 41.3% of the variation in teacher word discipline is attributed to other factors not examined in this study.
