Abstract

Sleep disturbances and anxiety are common problems experienced by pregnant women in their third trimester due to physiological and psychological changes before delivery. These conditions can impact the health of both the mother and the fetus, requiring safe, easy-to-implement, and side-effect-free treatment. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be used is lullaby music therapy. This study aims to determine the effect of lullaby music on sleep quality and anxiety levels in pregnant women in their third trimester. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The study sample consisted of 30 pregnant women in their third trimester selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by measuring sleep quality and anxiety levels before and after lullaby music therapy using a predetermined questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test because the data were not normally distributed. The results showed that before the intervention, all respondents (100%) had poor sleep quality, while after the intervention, 90.0% of respondents had good sleep quality. At the anxiety level, before the intervention, most respondents experienced moderate (60.0%) and severe (40.0%) anxiety, while after the intervention, 60.0% of respondents did not experience anxiety and 40.0% experienced mild anxiety. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed that there was an effect of lullaby music on sleep quality (Z = -2.377; p = 0.017) and anxiety levels (Z = -3.657; p < 0.001) in pregnant women in the third trimester. Lullaby music therapy was effective in improving sleep quality and reducing anxiety levels in pregnant women in the third trimester so that it can be used as an alternative non-pharmacological intervention in antenatal care.

Abstract

Female adolescents are a vulnerable population with regard to reproductive health problems and therefore require adequate knowledge to support healthy behaviors, particularly in maintainingreproductive organ hygiene. Inadequate knowledge may influence adolescents’ behaviors in maintaining their reproductive health. This study aimed to determine the association between reproductive health knowledge and reproductive organ hygiene practices among femaleadolescents’ behaviors in maintaining their reproductive health. This study aimed to determine the association between reproductive health knowledge and reproductive organ hygiene practices among female adolescents at SMP Negeri 09 Pekanbaru. This quantitative study employed a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach research criteria. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity using the Chi-square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The using the Chi-square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The using the Chi-square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The and reliability and were subsequently analyzed using the Chi-square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that 60.9% of respondents had good reproductive health knowledge, while 57.4% demonstrated good reproductive organ hygiene  practices.  The  Chi-square  test  indicated  a  statistically hygiene  practices.  The  Chi-square  test  indicated  a  statistically significant association between reproductive health knowledge and reproductive organ hygiene practices (p = 0.040; OR = 2.396; 95% CI =1.112–5.162). This finding indicates that adolescents with inadequate reproductive health knowledge had 2.396 times higher odds of demonstrating inadequate reproductive organ  hygiene practices compared  with  those  who  had  good  knowledge.  Thus,  better reproductive  health  knowledge  among  female  adolescents  was associated with better reproductive organ hygiene practices. Therefore schools are recommended to implement a monthly “Reproductive Health Day” program consisting of 15–30 minutes of reproductive health
