Abstract

The production process of natural indigo dye from the Strobilanthes cusiaplant has solid leaf waste as a by-product from maceration residue. This waste can be used to make solid organic fertilizer. This research aims to determine the effective concentration of adding local microorganism (MOL) ofkepok banana peel and EM4 to bioactivators obtain good quality compost. Composting was carried out aerobically with variations in the concentration ratio of kepok banana peel MOL and EM4 bioactivators of 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5% respectively. Fertilizer quality is determined by testing the C/N ratio parameter using the Walkey & Black (C-Organic) and Kjeldahl (N-Total) methods. Color, texture and odor tests were carried out organoleptically by 5 panelists. The results showed that in the concentration range of 1-5%, the MOL kepok banana peel bioactivator was more effective than EM4, as evidenced by the lower C/N ratio of the compost. The best product was obtained from the composting process with 5% MOL kepok banana peel bioactivator with a C/N ratio of 50.04%, water content of 48.74%, blackish brown color, very crumbly texture and an earthy smell. This result does not meet the standards for compost quality according to SNI 19-7030-2004, but the physical parameters such as color, texture, odor and water content meet the standards, namely blackish brown color, very crumbly texture and smells like soil.

Abstract

This research aims to utilize seaweed craft waste as a basic material for biodegradable plastic by adding chitosan and sorbitol as plasticizers. Seaweed craft waste is extracted to obtain cellulose which is then mixed with chitosan and sorbitol in certain variations. The mechanical characteristics, biodegradation and water absorption capacity of the resulting biodegradable plastic were evaluated. The research results showed that the tensile strength of biodegradable plastic ranged from 1.68 to 2.41 MPa, elongation ranged from 6.9% to 20.9%, biodegradation test ranged from 63.5% to 66.53%, and water absorption capacity. ranges from 1.8% to 2.37%. Statistical correlation shows that the addition of chitosan tends to strengthen the mechanical properties and inhibit biodegradation and water absorption, while the addition of sorbitol tends to weaken the mechanical properties and increase the water absorption. The optimum conditions for biodegradable plastic vary depending on the parameters measured, and the characteristics of the plastic do not fully meet applicable standards. Nevertheless, this research provides an overview of the potential and limitationsof using seaweed craft waste for the production of biodegradable plastic.

Abstract

This research aims to reduce waste in the R-WaterFilling Service Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by applying the principles of Lean Manufacturing, specifically 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke). The main problem identified is the length of service time caused by waste, which often hinders the achievement of daily sales targets. Through the Lean Manufacturing approach, we mapped and identified waste through Value Stream Mapping and Process Activity Mapping. The results of Value Stream Mapping show that R-Water's service process lead time is 822.22 seconds. Waste identification revealed the existence of waste motion in filling gallons of water. Based on these findings, root cause analysis was conducted using the Lean Manufacturing 5 Whys approach. The improvement phase was based on the root cause and applied the 5S principles. This improvement's results significantly impacted, reducing the lead time to 750.2 seconds. This research makes an essential contribution to minimizing waste in the service process, which in turn improves operational efficiency and helps achieve set sales targets.

Abstract

Waste handling cannot only be completed by one agency but involves related agencies to collaborate. Grobogan Regency has 17 of the 19 sub-districts that are included in the potential for flood disasters. After the flood disaster, there was trash that had to be handled. To resolve this,a good coordination pattern between agencies is needed. This research is descriptive research using primary and secondary data. Primary data was taken by measuring the amount of waste produced at 6 temporary 3R waste management locations in Grobogan Regency and conducting interviews with officers from the Grobogan Regency Environmental Service (DLH), BNPB, and DPUPR. Meanwhile, secondary data comes from data on the amount of waste produced under normal conditions as well as analysis of coordination and institutional patterns in handling post-disaster waste. The results of this research showed that the increase in waste after the disaster was 15% of normal conditions, whereas in the post-disaster coordination pattern it returned to internal coordination where each agency returned to work according to the duties and authority of each agency.

Abstract

Waste management is one of serious problems in Indonesia.Based on data from the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia states that out of 156 cities/regencies, the amount of waste produced is around 17 tons/year. In Bekasi Regency, in 2021 the amount of waste produced is 1,194 tons. Also, burning and stockpiling in the final disposal site still dominating. This researchaimsto make a Smart Trash Bin forcomposting process. We use Arduino Uno as a microcontroller withUltrasonic Sensor HC-SR04 to detect the distance. We also use the sensor Load Cell HX711 as a waste weighing, where theresults will be displayed onthe LCD and compared with manual scale. For composting, we use POC EM4which is mixed with organic waste to speed up fertilizer production. Therefore, trash that goes into the smart trash bin will be soaked in EM4 liquid and waitingfor 20-30 days to get compostingresults. The accuracy of the weighing average reached 90%, from 10 trialswhereonly once the prototype failed to read it correctly. The compost produced was good. As the current system has its limitations, expanding the capacity of the prototype's scales would augment its waste-handling capabilities

Abstract

One of the causes of the decline in sea water quality is due to industrial activities near sea waters, one of which is Steam Power Plants where the cooling system activity process of the generating equipment becomes a problem because it is thrown into the sea at high temperatures. Based on this, it is necessary to calculate the status of sea water quality in order to find out whether sea water quality has decreased due to the PLTU's activities. The aim of this research is to determine the quality profile of sea water and determine the impact of activities in the surrounding waters at several monitoring points around the waters of the Steam Power Plant. The way to determine or status method for water quality is with a pollution index based on Decree of the Minister of Environment Number 115 of 2003. Water quality can be assessed based on the classification of pollutant indicators, the pollutant index value around the Steam Power Plant in 2020 Quarter II is 7.86 at the point 6. Meanwhile, in 2021 and 2022 there will be a decline in every quarter and at all points, for determining quality status refers to Minister of the Environment Regulation No. 2003 No. l115, in 2020 Quarter II, the quality status of sea water around the waters of the Steam Power Plant was included in the moderately polluted category and in both 2021 and 2022 the quality status of sea water around the waters of the Steam Power Plant was included in the lightly polluted category
