Abstract

This research is motivated by the low reading and writing skills of students in Arabic language learning. The lack of engaging methods and creative media causes students to lose interest, resulting in poor comprehension of the material. This study aims to examine the implementation of the qirā'ah and imlā' methods to improve Arabic reading and writing skills among fifth-grade students at MI Salafiyah Kasim. The methods used are qirā'ah jahriyah (loud reading) and imlā' manqūl (copied dictation). This is a qualitative descriptive field research conducted at MI Salafiyah Kasim using purposive sampling for data collection. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that in the qirā'ah jahriyah method, the teacher reads aloud and students imitate, followed by selected students reading aloud in front of the class. In the imlā' manqūl method, the teacher writes vocabulary on the board, students copy it into their notebooks, then read it aloud again.Several challenges were found in the implementation process, including difficulty in managing students during lessons, lack of attention from teachers and parents at home, peer influence from more advanced students, and students’ low self-confidence in learning Arabic.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) identify the forms of errors in Arabic language, specifically morphological and syntactic interference, experienced by the ninth-grade female students of MTS Riyadlotut Thalabah Sedan Rembang; 2) explore the factors causing these interference errors; and 3) determine the efforts to minimize these errors by the teacher. The research is a descriptive qualitative field study conducted at MTS Riyadlotut Thalabah with a sample of 40 ninth-grade students. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and documentation, with qualitative analysis applied to the data. The findings show that interference errors occurred in two main areas: morphology and syntax. Morphological errors include mistakes in conjugation and word choice, while syntactic errors involve issues with agreement, i'rab, pronoun usage, and the application of conjunctions. The causes of these errors are classified into three factors: interlingual, intralingual, and performance-related. To minimize these errors, teachers should focus on increasing the practical application of the Arabic theories learned.

Abstract

This study investigates the occurrence and usage of kāna wa akhawātuhā (kāna and its sisters) in Surah Al-Baqarah, which comprises 286 verses. The researcher identified 88 instances of kāna wa akhawātuhā: 57 instances of kāna in the past tense (fi'il madli), 18 in the present tense (fi'il mudhari'), and 3 as imperative forms (fi'il amr). Additionally, there were 9 occurrences of laysa (fi'il madli) and 1 of mā zāla (fi'il mudhari'). The analysis categorized kāna wa akhawātuhā based on conditions of application, types of verbs, need for complements (khabar), and grammatical properties. Most forms acted without conditions, and the majority were complete in their inflection (kāmilut tashrif). Furthermore, the study explored the types of ism (subjects) and khabar (predicates) linked to kāna wa akhawātuhā, categorized by form, number, and gender. The findings provide a systematic inventory of kāna wa akhawātuhā examples, complete with parsing (i’rab) and detailed grammatical analysis, offering significant contributions for the teaching and learning of Arabic grammar (nahwu), particularly at the beginner and intermediate levels. The researcher also proposes instructional steps to integrate these findings into grammar learning practices.

Abstract

Assessment is a critical component of the learning process, serving to determine the achievement of learning objectives. This study aims to evaluate the quality of Arabic language multiple-choice final exam items for eleventh-grade students of class "L" at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Cilacap in the 2023/2024 academic year, focusing on validity, reliability, difficulty level, discrimination index, and distractor effectiveness. This quantitative descriptive study used data sources including question sheets, student answer sheets, question grids, and answer keys. Data were collected through interviews and documentation and analyzed using the Anates V4 application. The findings revealed that the overall quality of the items was low. In terms of validity, only 7 items (23%) were categorized as high and none as very high; 14 items (47%) were classified as very low. Reliability was high with a coefficient of 0.72. Regarding difficulty level, most items were too easy, with 15 items (50%) in the very easy category. The discrimination index showed 11 items (37%) were not good, while none reached the very good category. Distractor effectiveness showed poor results, with 12 items (40%) in the very bad category. These findings suggest that the exam items require significant revision to meet quality standards.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the correlation between maharah al-kalam (Arabic speaking skills) and the level of self-confidence among students in the Arabic Education Study Program (PBA) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Understanding this relationship is vital for recognizing how self-confidence impacts speaking proficiency, a core competency for future Arabic educators. A quantitative design with a correlation method was employed here. Data were collected through a questionnaire adapted from Yusuf Al Uqshaw's book on self-confidence, utilizing a 1-5 Likert scale for measurement. The analysis revealed a significant relationship (r = 0.322), indicating that higher maharah al-kalam is associated with increased levels of self-confidence among students. These findings suggest that self-confidence can enhance mastery of speaking skills. Therefore, it is crucial to integrate the development of speaking skills and self-confidence into the Arabic language curriculum, enabling educators to better support students in their learning processes and contribute to their success as future educators.

Abstract

This study aims to develop innovative project assessment instruments that are relevant to improving reading skills in Arabic language learning. The focus of this study is on the Grade IX Arabic Textbook published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The background of this research is based on the need for assessment methods that can encourage students to understand texts deeply, critically, and contextually, in accordance with the demands of today's learning. This study used library research method strengthened by content analysis to explore the optimal strategies and approaches in developing project-based assessment instruments. The findings show that the instrument can be designed through activities such as text analysis, summarization, and interpretive discussion. The instrument is accompanied by an evaluation rubric that covers vocabulary understanding, text structure, content analysis, and the ability to reflect the meaning of the text in the context of daily life. This innovation is expected to improve students' reading ability while honing critical thinking skills and appreciation of Arabic texts. In addition, this instrument provides teachers with a comprehensive and measurable evaluation tool to objectively monitor student progress. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of Arabic language learning in Indonesia through an interactive and applicable approach, so that it can meet the needs of modern education in improving maharatul qiro'ah effectively and continuously.
