Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that is a major risk factor for stroke, which remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of nursing care through the use of a stroke prevention module in strengthening self-care behaviors in hypertensive patients in the community. This case study was conducted in Tuliskriyo Village, Sanankulon District, Blitar Regency, involving four hypertensive patients. Data were collected through nursing assessment, physical examination, and vital sign measurement, followed by nursing interventions including pain management using Benson relaxation techniques and health education using a stroke prevention module based on self- care behavior this case management involved four hypertensive patients and describes observed clinical and behavioral changes after nursing interventions. The results showed that all patients experienced acute pain and knowledge deficits at baseline. After three days of intervention, there was a reduction in headache intensity, an improvement in vital signs, increased patient knowledge, and better adherence to antihypertensive medication and healthy lifestyle behaviors. The findings indicated that the application of a stroke prevention module effectively enhanced self-care behavior and supported improved clinical outcomes in hypertensive patients. This approach was used as an effective community-based nursing strategy to prevent stroke complications in patients with hypertension.

Abstract

Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide and the leading cause of death in Indonesia. One type of cancer that causes a large number of deaths in Indonesia is head and neck cancer. In Indonesia, the prevalence of head and neck cancer is quite high, with an incidence of 4.7 per 100,000 population. The purpose of this study is to determine the community's knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding head and neck cancer. A cross-sectional study was conducted in the working area of the Community Health Center in Bali, with a cadre population spread across eight villages. Samples were taken using the Slovin formula with a total of 70 respondents, using simple random sampling. The type of analysis used was Spearman's correlation test. The results obtained showed that the majority of respondents were female, 54.3%, with the highest level of education being a bachelor's degree, 51.4%. The highest level of knowledge was good, 48.6%, and the majority of respondents stated that knowledge about head and neck cancer was very important, 88.6%. Bivariate analysis using Spearman's correlation test to examine the relationship between the three components of knowledge, attitude, and behavior showed a significant relationship between behavior and knowledge (p<0.05). It can therefore be concluded that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and behavior and values (p<0.05).

Abstract

Lack of family support in patients with hypertension is often influenced by family perceptions and limited knowledge regarding hypertension management. This condition may lead to inadequate attention to patients and poor adherence to treatment and preventive measures. In contrast, family attention, empathy, and involvement in patient care can positively influence patient behavior and improve psychological well-being. This study aimed to identify the level of family support among patients with hypertension before and after the implementation of family support education. This research employed a descriptive case study design involving two research subjects. Data were collected using a family support questionnaire covering emotional, informational, instrumental, and appraisal support. The findings showed that before the educational intervention, subject 1 had not met family support in all four aspects, with informational support being the lowest due to limited access to health information. Meanwhile, subject 2 showed the lowest score in instrumental support due to economic limitations. After the implementation of family support education, both subjects demonstrated improvements and fulfilled all four aspects of family support. It is recommended that families maintain these four aspects of support to enhance patient care, and future researchers are encouraged to conduct separate assessments between family members and patients to obtain more comprehensive results.

Abstract

Diabetes melitus emergencies are drastic changes in blood sugar levels that result in a decrease in consciousness if no prevention is taken. The Health Belief Model is a health behaviour theory to understand individual health behaviour including six basic components (Perceived Vulnerability, Perceived Severity, Perceived Benefits, Perceived Barriers, Cues to Action, self-efficacy. This study was conducted to determine the prevention behaviour of diabetes melitus emergencies: hyperglycemia with the Health Belief Model approach. This research uses descriptive method. The sample size was 30 DM patients who were taken with purposive sampling technique. Data collection using a questionnaire of preventive behaviour of diabetes melitus emergencies: belief-based hyperglycaemia as many as 19 questions. Data analysis technique using univariate analysis. A total of 46.7% of DM patients have a vulnerable risk of hyperglycaemia, 40% of DM patients have a severe risk of hyperglycaemia, 50% of DM patients have a beneficial risk of hyperglycaemia, 36.7% of DM patients have a risk of obstacles, 50% of DM patients have a capable risk of hyperglycaemia, 50% of DM patients have a risk of hyperglycaemia encouragement all tend to prevent hyperglycaemia. Diabetes melitus emergency prevention behaviour: hyperglycaemia tends to prevent hyperglycaemia because they are aware of the importance of controlling blood sugar levels, afraid of the dangers of diabetes complications, feel the benefits of treatment and a healthy lifestyle, motivated to behave healthily, supported by counseling and family support, high motivation in preventing hyperglycaemia.
