The main focus of the journal is on language teaching and pedagogy work. We are particularly interested on Language and Teaching Methodologies, Pedagogical Techniques, Technology in Language Teaching, Technology in Language Teaching such as CALL and MALL and Curriculum Development and Material design. Although the focus is primarily on research on language education, we will also consider papers in other areas of applied linguistics such as Sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and neurolinguistics, Language and culture, cognition, and pragmatics and Theories and practice in related fields.

The result research of students in grade VII.4 of SMP Negeri 3 Parepare showed that student learning outcomes were still relatively low, namely that the learning completeness score only reached, which had not achieved DEPDIKNAS 2015 standards of 75. This research used quasi-experimental design with two groups namely pre-test and post-test. The population of this research was the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Parepare of gazal semeste in academic year 2017/2018 with sample taking technique which was clustering random sampling consisting of 58 students from two classes taken from the seventh grade population, where class VII.4 is an experimental class and VII.5 as a control class. The results showed that the learning process using guided inquiry method could improve students' writing ability, based on the results of the research in Chapter IV it was known that the average score of learning outcomes before applying guided inquiry method or giving a pre-test was 60.00 from the DEPDIKNAS 2015 standard score with the learning outcomes category in the low category. After applying the guided inquiry method, the researcher obtained the results of the average score of students in the post-test was 79.82. Based on data analysis through the test formula shows the final t-test (6.39) was higher than the value of t-table (2.000). This showed that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, students who are taught to use guided inquiry methods are more effective than guided discovery methods.

Vocabulary is one of the language components that should be mastered by student from the elementary school up to university. If the students do not recognize the meaning of the words they will be unable to participate in conversation. Therefore, the students firstly should master a large number of vocabularies, without having this, the students cannot express their ideas clearly and effectively. Those become some of the considerations of the researcher to conduct this research when doing an observation at SMP Negeri 13 Parepare since the students show very poor achievement in vocabulary mastery. In this case, the researcher initiatives to solve the lack of students’ vocabulary mastery by implement one of innovative learning technique that is fan-n-pick tecknique. Then, the objective of the research is to find out whether or not fan-n-pick can improve vocabulary mastery of the eight year students of SMP Negeri 13 Parepare. significantly. The researcher applied quasi-experimental method, with two group pre-test and post-test design. The test form was vocabulary test that related to the procedure text which multiple choice test consists of 10 numbers, translate word into Indonesia consists of 10 numbers and fill the blank test consists of 5 numbers. The samples were chosen by using random sampling technique which consisted of 15 students from two classes taken from the population of the eight year students of SMP Negeri 13 Parepare. The total number of population was 15 students. The result of the data analysis shows that the students’ vocabulary mastery improved significantly. It showed by the mean score in experimental class of pre-test was 14.4 and the post-test was 33.7. It shows that the implementation of fan-n-pick technique can improve the vocabulary mastery of the eight year students of SMP Negeri 13 Parepare significantly. Besides the different score of pre-test and post-test, the mean score of the students in post-test was 0.00 is higher than the PERMENDIKBUD (75) in SMP Negeri 13 Parepare. After analyzing the data by using the t-test formula, the result of t-test value in post-test was 0.05 and t-table value was 0.00. It means that t-test value (0.00) was higher than t-table value (0.05). Those indicate that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected and the students who were taught through fan-n-pick technique are better than the students who were taught through showdown technique.

Reading skill is one of the important abilities in learning and teaching process. Reading very important for student, because by reading the student can explore their ideas, creativity and knowledge.Besides, most students feel bored with reading. Those become some of the considerations of the researchers to conduct this research when doing an observation SMP Negeri 3 Parepare.Thus, the objective of this research was to find out whether or not the implementation of short stories text can improve the reading comprehension of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Parepare. Because students to showing the low ability in reading. Then, modifying the instructional methods can become a problem solving for the lack of the students in reading. In this case, the implementation of the short story as an instructional method is suggested to overcome the problem. Then, objective of the research is to find out whether or not the use of short story method can improve the reading comprehension of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Parepare significantly. The method used in this research was quasi-experimental method that used two classes which consisted of one experimental clas and control class. The experimental class consisted of 20studets and the control class consisted of 20 students. So, the total of the sample was 40 students. The data required from reading comprehension test was analyzed by using SPSS 21. The result of the data analysis shows that the students’ reading comprehension improved. It can be seen from the mean score of pre-test and pos-test between experimental class and control class. The mean score of experimental class in pre-test was 36.50 and in pos-test was 59.50. Meanwhile, the mean score of the control class 34.45 and in pos-test was 45.65. It indicated that the improvement of the experimental class who got treatment by using short stories text was higer than control class who did not get treatmen by using short stories text. After analyzing the data by using the test formula, the result of the t-test value in post-test was 4.009 and t-table value was 2.032. It means that the t-test value (4.009) was higher than t-table value (2.032). This indicates that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected and the students who were taught through Short Story are better than the students who were taught trough Longer Story.

This research was based on students' problems regarding English learning, especially the students' reading comprehension, where the students’ mean score was 53. The score was categorized low based on the assessment of the Dirjen Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah 2016. Besides, this research was using memes to help the students’ reading comprehension. Memes are a combination of writing and images and expressions of people who function as entertainment and are spread by the internet. The purpose of this research is to find out whether or not the use of memes can enhance reading comprehension of the second year students at SMP Negeri 7 Parepare. Researchers applied pre-experimental design, with one groups of pre-test and post-test. The sample of the research consisted of 24 students from one class taken from the population of the second year student at SMP Negeri 7 Parepare l. this research consisted of three stages, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage and the data analysis stage. The instrument was used in this research were the reading comprehension tests which aims to find out the extent of the students ability. The result of the data analysis showed that students' reading comprehension enhanced after giving treatment. It was showed by the mean score of the pre-test was 75.42 and the post-test was 84.04 the data shows that the reading comprehension of the second year students at SMP Negeri 7 Parepare enhanced by using memes. After analyzing the data by manually, the result of the t-test value (5.38) was higher than the t-table value (α = 0.05, out of 24 students = 2,069). The data indicated that H0 was rejected, H1 was accepted. In conclusion, teaching reading comprehension used meme was effective to enhance the reading comprehension of the second year students at SMP Negeri 7 Parepare of academic year 2018/2019.

This research focused on reading skill. This skill was selected because it was an important, skill as a way to get information. Thus, the objective of this research was to find out whether or not the implementation of REAP (reading, encoding, annotating, pondering) technique can effective the reading comprehension of the eighth year students of SMP Negeri 5 Alla in academic year 2018/2019. The method used in this research was quasi-experimental method, that used two classes which consisted of one experimental class and one control class. The experimental class consisted of 22 students and the control class consisted of 28 students. So, the total of the sample was consisted of 50 students. The result of the data analysis shows that the students’ reading comprehension improved. It can be seen from the mean score of pre-test and post-test between experimental class and control class. The mean score of experimental class in pre-test was 66.59 and in post-test was 75.68. Meanwhile, the mean score of the control class in pre-test was 64.46 and in post-test was 68.04. It indicated that the improvement of the experimental class who got treatment through REAP technique was higher than control class who did not get treatment through REAP technique. After analyzing the data by using the t-test formula, the result of the t-test value in post-test was 2.584 and t-table value was 1.677. It means that the t-test value (2.584) was higher than t-table value (1.677). This indicates that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected.

This study aimed to investigate whether applied Edmodo application can improve vocabulary mastery or not. Based on the observation at second years students of English Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare there were students less knowledge vocabulary mastery. It caused most students did not exploited the technology like android to study English. Beside, some of students just focus on social media and playing game. Those become some considerations of the researcher to conduct this research when doing an observation at English Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare, since the students shows less knowledge, one of media to solved the problem this research to find out whether or not used Edmodo application can improve vocabulary mastery. This research used quasi experimental method, with two group pre-test and post-test design. The population was the second years students of English Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare. The sample were drawn by using Edmodo application as experimental class and E-mail as control class that consisted 42 students which were B class as experimental and A class as control class. The data were acquired by using vocabulary mastery test. The vocabulary mastery test was applied by pre-test and post-test. The data required from vocabulary test was analyzed by using t-test and percentage technique. The result of the data analyzed shows that Edmodo application can improve vocabulary mastery of the second years students of English Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare significantly. It was proved by the mean score of the pre-test was (66.19) and the post-test (89.77). It showed that used of Edmodo application can improve vocabulary Mastery of the second years students of English Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare significantly. After analyzing the data by the the t-test formula, the result of t-test value in post-test was (2.42) and t-table value was (2.02108). Those indicated that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. The students who were taught through Edmodo application were better than the students who were taught through E-mail.

Based on the result of research observation, the researcher found that the student’s reading ability is still low. It was caused by the effect of less strategy in teaching, for this reason the students confuse how to get specific information from the reading text easily. For this reason, Small Group Discussion starategy.In this case, Small Group Discussion is a strategy that able to guide the students in recording the information related to the elements of the text.Then, the objective of this research is to find out whether or not the use of Small Group Discussion able to improve the student’s reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Parepar. The researcher applied quasi-experimental, with two ground pre-test and post-test. The samples were taken by cluster random sampling that consisted of 60 students that taken from two classes of the population at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Parepare. One class as an experimental class and the other one as an control class. The result of the research the use of Small Group Discussion improved the students reading comprehension of SMP Negeri 3 Parepare. It is proved by the result of the statistical analysis by using manual calculation where the significant value of pre test ( 1.14 ) was lower than the level of significant ( 2.000 ).and post test ( 4.70 ) was higher that the level significant ( 2.000). Those indicated that HI was accepted and HO was rejected. It means that Small Group Discussion cam Improve the reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Parepare.

This research was intended to reveal that: can mnemonic technique increase vocabulary mastery of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Suppa Pinrang significantly. This research used Quasi Experimental method, with two class pre-test and post-test design. The population was the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Suppa Pinrang. The samples were drawn by using nonequivalent group design that consisted of 40 students which were class VIII, A as experimental class, VIII, C as the control class. The data were acquired by using vocabulary test. The vocabulary mastery test was applied in the pre-test and post-test. The data required from reading test was analyzed by using t-test and percentage technique. The result of the data analyzed shows that mnemonic technique can increase vocabulary mastery of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Suppa Pinrang significantly. It was proved by the mean score of the pre-test was (38.94) and the post-test was (82.10). It showed that used of mnemonic technique can increase vocabulary mastery of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Suppa Pinrang significantly. After analyzing the data by the t-test formula, the result of t-test value in post-test was (4.83) and t-table value was (2.024). Those indicated that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. The students who were taught through mnemonic technique were better than the students who were taught words list technique.

Reading skill is one of skill in language teaching and learning, besides grammar and vocabulary. Reading is the important thing for students in the process of acquiring, learning, mastering and using the language they learn. Without having Reading ability or without read, student and teacher cannot understand, pay attention, listen, and of course read. Based on the observation in SMP Negeri 10 Parepare, the students cannot be read the English passage well because the students are lack of attention, analyze and understanding the reading passage Then, the researcher hopes this proplem will be solved through fix up Strategy. Therefore, the objective of this research is to find out and analyze the use of fix up Strategy able to improve the students Reading Comprehension of eight grade student of SMP Negeri 10 Parepare. This research used quasi experimental method by using two classes with pre-test and post-test design. The population of this research was the eight year students of SMP Negeri 10 Parepare. In sampling process was taken cluster random sampling and this sample of this research VIII.1 as experimental class with 31 students and VIII.4 as control class with 31 students. The students were give treatment with Narrative texts. The data were collected by using Reading comprehension test. The result of data analysis shows that the students’ reading comprehension improved significantly. It was showed by the mean score of pre-test and post-test was 52.45 and the post-test was 80.41 It showed that through fix up Strategy as a mcan improve the reading comprehension of tenth year students of SMP Negeri 10 Parepare. Furthermore, after analyzing the data by using the test formula, the result of t-test value in post-test was 2.948 and t-table value was (2.000) It means that the t-test value (2.948) was higher than t-table value (2.000) Those indicate that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected and the students who were taught through fix up Strategy were better than the students who were taught through Think, pair and share. From the results above can be concluded that fix up Strategy as method can improve the Reading Comprehension of the Eight year students at SMP Negeri 10 Parepare.

This research was based on the students’ problem regarding the English teaching, especially the students’ speaking ability. It was caused by the teaching activity applied in the classroom, where the teacher was more active than the students. Consequently, the students’ speaking ability was low. Therefore, the objective of the research was to find out whether or not the use of topic based-paired conversation activity improves the eleventh grade students’ speaking ability at SMA Negeri 3 Parepare. The researcher applied quasi-experimental design, with two groups pre-test and post-test design. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Parepare academic year 2016/2017. The sample of the research was taken by using total random sampling which consisted of 56 students from two classes taken from the population of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Parepare, XI. IPA 2 as the experimental class and XI.IPA 1 as the control class. The result of the data analysis showed that the students’ speaking ability was improved, it was showed by the mean score of pre-test was 31.19 and the post-test was 59.82. It showed that the speaking ability of the eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Parepare improved through topic based-paired conversation activity. After analyzing the data by using SPSS version 21, the result of probability value in post-test was 0.00 and significance value was 0.05. It means that the probability value (0.00) was lower than significance value (0.05). Those indicated that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. It means that the eleventh grade students’ speaking ability at SMA Negeri 3 Parepare for experimental class and control class was significantly difference. In conclusion, teaching speaking through topic based-paired conversation activity was effective to improve the eleventh grade students’ speaking ability at SMA Negeri 3 Parepare of academic year 2016/2017.
