The aims of this journal is to provide a venue for researchers, academicians and practitioners for publishing the original articles or review articles. The main focus of the journal is on language teaching and pedagogy work. We are particularly interested on Language and Teaching Methodologies, Pedagogical Techniques, Technology in Language Teaching, Technology in Language Teaching such as CALL and MALL and Curriculum Development and Material design. Although the focus is primarily on research on language education, we will also consider papers in other areas of applied linguistics such as Sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and neurolinguistics, Language and culture, cognition, and pragmatics and Theories and practice in related fields.

One of the four English skills which were not taught well at Vocational High School was writing, the students were difficult to write. Based on the researcher’s observation, there were many students who have difficulties in writing. It was proved by the students’ writing score was in fair classification. There were several problems faced by students such as students’ writing was not comprehensible and there were still many errors in vocabulary, grammar, and spelling. Therefore, the researcher intended to help students to overcome their writing difficulties by using story pyramid strategy. This was a good strategy help students to organize their idea or plans before they write a complete paragraph. The objective of the research was to find out whether or not the use of story pyramid strategy can improve the writing ability of the tenth year students of SMKN 3 Parepare. The researcher applied quasi-experimental design with two group pre-test and post-test design. There were two variables; they were independent variable and dependent variable. The samples of the research consisted of 62 students from two classes taken from population of the tenth year students of SMKN 3 Parepare. Class X MM 2 as experimental class and X TKJ 2 as control class. The instrument used in this research was writing test. The result of the data analysis showed that the students’ writing ability improved significantly. It was showed by the mean score of pre-test was 53.16 and the post-test was 77.03 It showed that the use of story pyramid strategy could improve the students’ writing ability of the tenth year students of SMKN 3 Parepare. Beside the different score of pre-test and post-test, the mean score of the students in post-test was higher than the Criteria of Completeness Maximum (75) in SMKN 3 Parepare. After analyzing the data by using SPSS version 21, the result showed the level of significance (0.05) was higher than t-test result (0.000). Those indicated that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected.

This research was conducted to obtain the learning style that commonly apllied in Speaking Subjects by students of English Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare. This research also conducted to obtain the importance of knowing learning styles that apllied in Speaking Subjects of English Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare based on students’ perception. This research used Qualitative Descriptive by design conducted with students. The population of this research is English Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare. The respondents of this research consist of six respondents. In addition, the researcher conducted interview and questionnaire to obtained the data. The result of this research showed that the kind of learning style that commonly apllied in speaking subjects by students are kinesthetic and auditory based on the result of interview and questionnaire. Learning style kinesthetic was the highest score based on the result of questionnaire, the second was auditory, the third was read/write, and the lowest score was visual. Besides, the result of this research also showed that students’ perception toward the importance of knowing learning style especially in speaking subjects stated that learning style is one of the important things to know and understand by students because it plays an important role in learning process for students themselves.

The major problems of this research were how to enhance the students’ speaking ability. Then how to make the students interest to speak in English so this research conducted to find out whether Using ”Snakes and Ladders’’ language game through Buzz Group to Improve Speaking Ability of the First Grade students of SMAN 2 Pinrang. A Mix method was carried out by researcher in this research. The population was the first grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Pinrang. X.exact.1 and X.exact.5 were taken as sample which consists of 31 students for each class X.exact.1 was chosen as the experimental group, while X.exact.5 was chosen as control group. The instruments that used in collecting the data were interview test and questionnaire. The procedure in collecting data were divided into 3 stages namely pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data obtained through the test were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of the research shows the students’ speaking ability of the experimental was better than the control group. It was proved by the data of the students’ mean score on experimental class was higher tha the control group (78.67 ˃ 60.22). Futhermore, Using ”Snakes and Ladders’’ language game through Buzz Group to Improve Speaking Ability of the First Grade students of SMAN 2 Pinrang Besides, the research finding also shows the students interest toward the implementing of this simulation. It was proved by the data from questionnaire that the students’ interest was which categorized as strongly agree.

The researcher conveyed that this aims to test students' understanding of writing narrative text. The author uses a quasi-experimental method and applies a non-equivalent control group design. The method used is cluster random sampling. The instrument used in this study was a narrative text consisting of two kinds of tests, namely pre-test and post-test. The results showed that the posttest results of the experimental group students were higher than those of the control group students. This is evidenced by the posttest mean score of the experimental group (77.85) which is higher than the control group (51.65). This is also evidenced by the t-test value (3.58) which is greater than the t-table value (2.042). Thus it can be concluded that the application of TTW can improve students' narrative writing skills. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pemahaman siswa tentang menulis narrative teks. Penulis menggunakan metode eksperimen semu dan menerapkan desain kelompok kontrol non ekuivalen. Metode yang digunakan adalah cluster random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teks naratif yang terdiri dari dua macam tes yaitu pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil posttest siswa kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada posttest siswa kelompok kontrol. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai rata-rata posttest kelompok eksperimen (77,85) lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (51,65). Hal tersebut juga dibuktikan dengan nilai t-test (3,58) yang lebih besar dari nilai t-tabel (2,042). Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan TTW dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis naratif siswa.

The major problems of this research were how to enhance the students’ speaking ability. Then how to motivate the students to speak in English so this research conducted to find out whether implementing Multiple Intelligence effective to improve the students’ speaking of SMP Negeri 3 Duampanua. A quasi-experimental method was carried out by researcher in this research. The population was the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Duampanua. VIII.1 and VIII.2 were taken as sample which consists of 25 students for each class VIII.1 was chosen as the experimntal class, while VIII.2 was chosen as the control class. The instruments that used in collecting the data were interview test and questionnaire. The procedure in collecting data were divided into 3 stages namely pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data obtained through the test were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of the research shows the students’ speaking ability of the experimental was better than the control group. It was proved by the data of the students’ mean score on experimental class was higher tha the control group (69.16 ˃ 60.52). Futhermore, implementing multiple intelligence improve the student speaking ability. Besides, the research finding also shows the students interest toward the implementing of this simulation. It was proved by the data from questionnaire that the students’ interest was which categorized as strongly agree.

This research focuses on the implementation of the story face strategy to address the students' lack of reading comprehension. Furthermore, the purpose of this research is to find out whether the implementation of story face strategy can improve students' reading comprehension, especially narrative texts in the form of narrative in class VIII UPTD SMP Negeri 9 Parepare. This study uses quantitative methods with pre-experimental classes. Then process of collecting data using pre-test and post-test. The test used was a reading test related to narrative texts about smart parrots, rabbits, and bears, consisting of 10 items, 5 for multiple choice and 5 for essays. Then the sample was selected using simple random sampling, consisting of 20 students from class VIII UPTD SMP Negeri 9 Parepare. The results of the data analysis showed that students' reading comprehension increased significantly. This is indicated by the comparison of the results of the pre-test and post-test. There are only 45.71% of students' scores in the pre-test and 84.28% in the post-test. This means that students' reading comprehension is greater after being given treatment with the story face strategy. This shows that students' reading comprehension at UPTD SMP Negeri 9 Parepare has progressed in learning using this strategy.

The aims of this research were to obtain the students’ perception and the effect of an outdoor classical music toward the students’ in learning English. Aqualitative method was carried out by researcher in this research. The students’ at Rumah Bambu Pintar were taken as the sample of the research by used total population sampling. The instruments that used in collecting the data were observation, semi-structure interview and documentation. The results of the research shows that an outdoor classical music as alternative media in teaching English could help them in the learning process. There were four participants who suggested that it gave a comfortable impression in learning, and provided a different atmosphere in teaching and learning process. Besides, it also increased the spirit of learning and not easily makes students bored because it was rarely applied in schools.

Muhadhoroh is a human activity in discussing a problem by giving a speech or discussion which is attended by many people. In this case, muhadhoroh is one of an training activity that focused on the way of students speak. Therefore, The objective of this study was to find out how is the influence of muhadharoh as extracurricular activities on students' speaking ability in PPM Rahmatul Asri. This study used qualitative research. The participants in the study consisted of 14 eighth grade students at PPM Rahmatul Asri junior high school. Researchers conducted interviews to obtain data from participants. The results of this study indicate that extracurricular muhadharah is a good school extracurricular activity that can affect students' speaking ability based on the results of interviews, the results of interviews show that muhadharah extracurricular activities greatly affect students' speaking ability in English. As for the supporting things contained in muhadharah activities such as debriefing in speech procedures, increasing students' vocabulary, learning how to make facial expressions or body gestures and also being able to directly train students mentally to speak in public. The results of the interview also show that there are deficiencies in extracurricular activities such as muhadharah when the activity is not appropriate because it is carried out at night so that it takes students' rest time and makes some students tired and sleepy, there are also students who say that in this activity there are penalties if students violate.

The objectives of this research are to find out whether or not the use of Quizlet can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery in the 10th grade of SMA Negeri 2 Parepare and to see the students’ response to the use of Quizlet. The mixed method was used in this research. The researcher collected both qualitative and quantitative data. The quantitative was taken through pretest and post-test while the qualitative data was taken through interviews. The result of quantitative data showed that there were only 9 students who reached the minimum criteria of KKM score before the implementation of Quizlet, with an average score of 56.46, while the percentage was 37.5% in the pre-test. After the treatment and the implementation, there were 12 students who reached the minimum criteria of KKM score, with an average score of 73.63, while the percentage was 50%. It shows that the use of Quizlet during the learning process can improve students' vocabulary mastery. Meanwhile, qualitative data revealed that the students' responses were positive; they enjoyed and felt interested in learning vocabulary using Quizlet because it is simple to use, has some interesting features, and helps them memorize the new words.

The COVID-19 virus in Indonesia is currently having an impact on the entire community and has an impact in various fields such as social, economic, religious fields, including the field of education. In the field of education, the government has set one policy, namely online schools as a solution during the current pandemic. This study was conducted to determine how prepared students are to face offline classes after the COVID-19 pandemic. This research used desciptive qualitative approach and the data analysis Braun and Clarke. Participants in this study were 11th grade students of SMAN 4 Parepare which consisted of 15 students. The data in this study were obtained using semi-structured interviews and chosing random samplin. From the results of the study, it is known that the students are ready for offline learning to be held at school. They are ready if given an uncertain study schedule, facing new media and different learning methods during offline learning. Most importantly, students will also continue to apply health protocols during offline learning. In addition, the students were also enthusiastic about the resumption of offline learning because they found it difficult to understand the material given by their teacher during online learning, and because they met again with their teacher and classmates.
