Abstract

Introduction: Self-efficacy is a key factor influencing diabetes self-management, with higher self-efficacy linked to better adherence to self-care and reduced complications. The Diabetic Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMSES), a 15-item Likert questionnaire, assesses self-efficacy in diet, exercise, blood glucose monitoring, therapy, and foot care. This study aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of DMSES for use among patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods: This cross-sectional study recruited 30 adults with diabetes mellitus, with 26 participants completing the questionnaire. The study was conducted in three stages: (1) translation, (2) content validation, and (3) validity and reliability testing. Forward–backward translation was applied to ensure linguistic and cultural accuracy. Content validity was assessed by a panel of five experts who rated item relevance, and the content validity index (CVI) was calculated. Item validity was examined by correlating individual item scores with total scores, while internal consistency reliability was evaluated using Cronbach’s alpha. Results: During translation, four items were modified to improve cultural and language clarity. The content validity assessment yielded a CVI of 1.00, indicating excellent agreement among experts. Item analysis demonstrated moderate to strong correlations (r = 0.550–0.867), with all correlation values exceeding the critical r table value (0.388), confirming item validity. The internal consistency reliability test produced a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.934, signifying excellent reliability across all items. Conclusion: The Indonesian version of the DMSES demonstrates strong content validity and high reliability, making it a valid and reliable instrument for measuring self-efficacy in patients with diabetes mellitus. These findings support the use of DMSES in future research and clinical practice in Indonesia to assess and strengthen diabetes self-management behaviors.

The World Health Organization (WHO) indicates that the prevalence of asthma continues to increase, with 335 million people worldwide suffering from this condition by 2023, and asthma contributing to 15% of global deaths.Based on data from the Koto Baru Community Health Center, data on the number of asthma sufferers in 2024 showed an increase in asthma sufferers, namely around 62 people consisting of 30 children and 32 adults. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between anxiety levels and asthma relapses in adult asthma sufferers. This research method is descriptive correlation with a cross-sectional study approach, with a population of 62 asthma sufferers consisting of 30 children and 32 adults. The sampling technique was total sampling, with a sample of 32 adult asthma sufferers. Bivariate analysis used a correlation test. The results of this study showed that respondents who had moderate anxiety levels were 50% and those who experienced moderate asthma relapses were 56%. The statistical test results indicate a relationship between anxiety levels and asthma relapses in adult asthmatics (p-value 0.037 <0.05). This study is expected to contribute scientific insight to healthcare professionals and serve as an additional new reference for the Koto Baru Community Health Center. Abstract

According to WHO (2018), every year it is estimated that around 20% - 50% of elderly people report poor sleep quality disorders and around 17% experience serious sleep disorders. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between sleep quality and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly. This study uses a spearman rank research design with a cross-sectional study approach. With a population of 198 elderly people. The sampling technique was accidental sampling, with a sample size of 35 people. This research was analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis.Based on the results of the study, all elderly people, namely 35 people, experienced poor sleep quality and almost half, namely 17 people (48.6%) experienced mild hypertension. There was no significant correlation between sleep quality and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly in Koto Padang Village, the working area of the Koto Baru Community Health Center, Dharmasraya Regency with a p value of 0.324 which means greater than 0.05. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for community health centers and provide education to the elderly about the importance of quality sleep and ways to improve sleep quality, such as creating a healthy sleep routine, avoiding stimulants such as caffeine, and creating a comfortable sleeping environment. Keywords: Elderly, Sleep Quality, Hypertension

Abstract

Introduction: Postpartum blues affect 50-80% of new mothers globally and can impact maternal-infant bonding if unaddressed. This study investigated the effectiveness of Family-Centered Maternity Care (FCMC) in enhancing maternal self-efficacy and reducing postpartum blues among postpartum mothers in Indonesian community health centers. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test control group design involved 60 postpartum mothers (30 intervention, 30 control) selected through purposive sampling. The intervention group received a four-week FCMC program including family support counseling, postpartum education, and family engagement activities. The control group received standard care. Maternal self-efficacy was measured using the Maternal Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (MEQ) and postpartum blues using the Postpartum Blues Questionnaire (PBQ). Data were analyzed using independent and paired t-tests. Results: FCMC significantly improved maternal self-efficacy in the intervention group (7.4-point increase, p < 0.001, Cohen's d = 2.37) compared to the control group (1.6 points, p = 0.136). Postpartum blues symptoms significantly decreased in the intervention group (6.7-point reduction, p < 0.001, Cohen's d = 1.87) versus the control group (0.9-point reduction, p = 0.522). Post-intervention, 63.3% of intervention mothers achieved high self-efficacy versus 16.7% in controls, while severe postpartum blues were eliminated in the intervention group. Conclusion Family-Centered Maternity Care effectively increases maternal self-efficacy and reduces postpartum blues in primary healthcare settings. The findings support integrating FCMC into standard maternal and child health services with emphasis on family involvement and comprehensive education programs.

Abstract

Background: Spiritual nursing training is one way to improve nursing students' abilities in providing spiritual nursing care to patients. After conducting training using the santri method, there was a proven increase in spiritual intelligence and spiritual care competence. The purpose of this study was to identify the correlation between students' spiritual care abilities and patient satisfaction during their treatment by previously trained nursing students. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 75 student nursing and 75 patients treated by nursing students, selected through simple random sampling. Data collection tools consisted of questionnaires on satisfaction with spiritual nursing care. The data obtained were analysed using SPSS 20 with descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The results showed that the average spiritual care ability of students was 119.3 and the average patient satisfaction was 39.4. After performing a correlation test, a p-value of 0.000 was obtained, indicating that there is a significant correlation between students' ability to provide spiritual care and patient satisfaction. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that there is a correlation between the spiritual care abilities of nursing students and patient satisfaction, and that the higher the level of clinical spiritual care abilities, the greater the patient satisfaction in hospitals. Therefore, nursing institutions and health system administrators should provide santri model training to improve the spiritual care of nursing students and develop their spiritual care competencies in order to increase patient satisfaction.
