Abstract

This study aims to describe the relationship between Boven Digoel and the Indonesian National Movement. The method used is historical, they are heuristics, criticizing sources, interpretation and historiography. The result shows that Boven Digoel concentration camp is different from that of Germany’s Nazy: in Boven Digoel, nobody got harassment. However, it shows a psychological and institutional mistery. Abstract

It is found that some trainers, in training their athletes, have still not understood the type of training and the appropriateness of the portion as well as the appropriateness to the type of the sport. This articel is aimed at giving descriptions of the appropriate type and portion of training in enhancing the ability of biomotoric components. The type of training is one chosen based on the specification movement of the sport type. While the training amount is intensity, volume, duration and frequency of an activity done by an athlete in a period of time to enhance the functional abilities of the system of the body organ in order to be able to adapt to the changes appropriate to the goal of the training.

Abstract

The teaching of a second/foreign language has been aimed at encouraging learners to use the target language they are learning in real communication. The objectives of this paper are to explore the roles of mother tongue and that of contrastive analysis in communicative language teaching. Method used in this study is a library research. The findings of the study suggest that using mother tongue helps beginner learners to cope with communication problem, while contrastive analysis helps teachers in choosing topic, in explaining different notions between second  language and mother tongue, and  helps explaining different notions found in both target language and mother tongue.Keywords: mother tongue, contrastive analysis, communicative                        language teaching

Abstract

The fact shows that teaching writing English as a foreign language in Indoneia is not easy. The students’ problems seem to be related to grammar, vocabulary, genre and mostly cohesion.  We should always find appropriate better ways to solve this problem. One of the ways to solve this problem may be the application of  Systemic Fumctional Linguistics, especially the use of Theme in shaping a cohesive text. Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate the realization of grammatical cohesion in writing recount text of the eleventh grade, senior high school students of SMA Negeri 1 Sentani. It aims at finding out the types of cohesion devices frequently used in students’ writing, the most problematic use of cohesion devices, and how cohesive grammar is in students’ writing recount text. The method used in this research was mixed method. The data were analyzed using cohesion category by Halliday and Hassan. The result of this research showed that reference (50.6%) was the most frequently used device in students’ writing amongst cohesion devices. Meanwhile, substitution (0.5) gained the lowest one. Furthermore, the students had adequate knowledge of using more appropriate cohesion devices (528) compared to problematic use of cohesion devices (110). In detail, conjunction (58.49%) became the most problematic use of cohesion devices. However, in average, the students’ writing are  already cohesively satisfied. It can be seen from the average number of cohesiveness percentage that is 81.7%.Keywords: Grammatical Cohesion, Recount Text, Writing ProblemPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penulisan kohesi gramatikal pada teks recount oleh siswa SMAN I Sentani kelas 11. Fokus penelitiannya adalah tipe alat kohesi yang sering digunakan dalam tulisan siswa, alat kohesi yang paling sulit dipakai, dan seberapa kohesif tulisan mereka. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode campuran. Data dianalisis menggunakan katgori Kohesi oleh Halliday dan Hassan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa refernsi (50.6%) adalah alat referensi yang paling banyak digunakan. Sementari Substitusi (0.5%) menduduki yang paling jarang digunakan. Selanjutnya, siswa memiliki pengetahuan yang cukup dalam menggunakan alat-alat kohesi (528) dibandingkan yang sulit digunakan (110). Konjungsi (58.49%) adalah yang paling sulit digunakan. Secara keseluruhan, tingkat kohesi tulisan siswa memuaskan dengan rerata presentasi tingkat kohesi 81, 7%.Kata Kunci: Kohesi gramatikal, Teks Recount, Masalah menulis

Abstract

Ehabla is one of the Sentani people’s oral poems. As a socio-cultural product,  this song is  the cultural asset that should be maintained because it expresses social and moral values that can be used as a medium of learning as well as a reflection of the socio-cultural dynamics of the Sentani community. One of the lessons contained in the ehabla is the value of character education. In fact, this ehabla  is no longer recognized by some Sentani people, especially the younger generation. This is related to the loosening of social and traditional values that take place in villages near cities which are very likely to spread to other communities living on remote islands. Therefore, this paper wants to bring back this ehabla to life. This paper aims at  exploring the educational values depicted in ehabla. The data of ehabla were collected in East Sentani, namely Asei Island, Waena, and Yokiwa through interviews and Focus Group Discussions with informants, i.e.  tribal chiefs and Sentani elders in January-March 2022. Abstract

This article was created to find out how much the use of local wisdom learning media and learning motivation to improve learning outcomes. Learning media is an intermediary tool or messenger used by educators/teachers in conveying teaching material to students in the hope of increasing students' interest in learning and being able to acquire knowledge, skills or attitudes. There are many local wisdom media that we can use such as seeds, grains, rocks, fruits, leaves and so on, teachers can easily teach and guide students and are also very helpful for students in participating in the learning process in class and outside the classroom thus the motivation that students feel will continue to increase and be more enthusiastic, and students get better learning outcomes and experience improvements according to the expectations of all parties. Teachers and students together use local learning media around it, it is hoped that the teaching and learning process will run smoothly and can improve learning outcomes. With the identified and validated local wisdom, it is hoped that it will make it easier for teachers to use it in learning and for students it is hoped that it will be easier for students to understand learning material, so that student learning outcomes experience an increase as expected.Keywords: Local wisdom media, motivation and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of the study are: (1) To investigate whether the narrative video can improve the students of X-IA 5 in SMAN Jayapura speaking skills; (2) To measure the effectiveness of the narrative video in improving speaking skills (3) To know the situations of teaching and learning process in using narrative video as the teaching media. The research method used is pre-experimental research. The population of this study is the tenth-grade science students of SMAN 1 Jayapura in the academic year 2021/2022, and the sample is X-IA 5 class. The instrument used was test and observation. The result shows that there is a significant change proven by T-Test.  The pre-test mean was 23.53846154 and the post-test was 37.94871795. It brings a difference by 61.22%. The situation in the teaching-learning process using narrative video was interesting for almost all students in the classroom. It attracted them to learn to speak with friends and build self-confidence in front of the class. Based on the research above, the researcher concludes that narrative videos can improve students’ speaking skills effectively.Keywords: Improve, Speaking, Narrative, Video.

Abstract

Abstract: This writing aims to produce additional knowledge and understanding of cultural traditions or habits in society related to the motivation of elementary school students in grade VI, a tradition, custom, or culture that exists in the Kamoro people, namely Kapiri Kame (going somewhere to look for food by taking their children along for an indefinite period of time and making a simple building for a stopover while their activities have not been completed). Most people view the Kapiri Kame culture as very influential on students' learning motivation where there is a public view that students are disadvantaged by this cultural tradition which is still carried out mostly by the Kamoro tribe in the Mimika district. Stakeholders need special attention. In this case, the Education Office and the Regional Government must pay attention and find good solutions so that this nation’s next generation can learn continuously. Community leaders need to explain the importance of formal learning for their children so they can compete in the future and this should be done regularly and continuously.Keywords: Kapiri Kame Tradition, motivation to learn

Abstract

This paper aims to increase students’ learning motivation in learning science with a local cultural approach. In the development of science learning in elementary schools there are many things that teachers must pay attention to, one of which is the learning approach. The local culture-based learning approach is the creation of a learning environment and the design of learning experiences that integrate local culture as part of the learning process. Culture is integrated as a tool for the learning process to motivate students to apply their knowledge. The cultural background that is owned by students and brought into the classroom during the learning process plays an important role in increasing learning motivation and the process of mastering the subject matter. Keywords: Local Cultural Approach, Learning Motivation, Science Learning
