Abstract

This research aims to determine efforts to reduce the psychosocial impact of women after divorce through Islamic counseling. The subjects in this research were post-divorce women, the families of post-divorce women, and the community. The type of research used is qualitative research. The research results show that efforts that can be made to prevent and deal with psychosocial impacts on post-divorce women in order to achieve self-adjustment can be done through Islamic counseling guidance, including: (1) mental guidance in the form of increasing self-efficacy, obtaining social support from the surrounding environment, and increasing the number of positive activities, as well as (2) spiritual guidance to increase religiosity which is done by getting closer to Allah SWT, namely by understanding religious teachings correctly and practicing faith, Islam and sincerity in daily life such as praying, fasting, read the Koran, make dhikr, pray, perform sunnah worship, and establish friendship and good relations with other Muslims. The function of Islamic counseling guidance in an effort to reduce the psychosocial impact of post-divorce women focuses on preventive measures (preventive), problem handling (curative), improvement, adjustment and development in order to help post-divorce women develop their potential and have the ability to overcome every problem in his life.

Abstract

Socio-religious diversity in Indonesia is both a richness and a challenge which, if not properly managed, may trigger conflicts and divisions. East Java, as a multicultural region, possesses local wisdom in the form of the values Tepo Seliro (empathy and tolerance) and the motto Rukun Agawe Santosa (harmony brings prosperity), both of which are relevant for strengthening social harmony. This study aims to propose a counseling model based on East Javanese local wisdom in addressing diversity, employing a literature review method on multicultural counseling and Javanese culture. The findings indicate that the integration of these two values gives rise to the TERUS Counseling Model (Tepo Seliro & Rukun Agawe Santosa), which emphasizes four stages: cultivating empathy, self-reflection, fostering harmony, and achieving collective well-being. This model offers advantages such as simplicity, cultural relevance, and alignment with universal Islamic values. However, it also has limitations, particularly in its applicability beyond the Javanese cultural context, and requires specific training for counselors to internalize these values effectively. Therefore, the TERUS Model is deemed a feasible multicultural counseling approach that can strengthen tolerance, prevent conflict, and build a peaceful and inclusive society. This study contributes to multicultural counseling literature by proposing a culturally grounded counseling model that integrates Javanese local wisdom into a structured conceptual framework.

Abstract

The phenomenon of violence in educational institutions, including Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), remains a serious issue that threatens human dignity and the quality of education. This study aims to explore the strategic role of Islamic Guidance and Counseling (BKI) counselors in building inclusive and violence-free pesantren through the integration of humanistic counseling and progressive Islamic values. Using a qualitative library research approach, this study constructs a conceptual framework that combines Carl Rogers’ humanistic principles empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence with progressive Islamic theology that emphasizes justice, equality, and liberation from discrimination. The findings reveal that BKI counselors are not only problem solvers at the individual level but also cultural change agents who are capable of challenging hierarchical relations and structural violence in pesantren. The integration of humanistic counseling with progressive Islam provides space for a more humane, egalitarian, and contextual education, while simultaneously strengthening the child-friendly pesantren movement. This study contributes theoretically to the development of a transformative Islamic counseling framework and practically provides a foundation for pesantren administrators in designing fair and anti-violence policies.

Abstract

The increasing rate of suicide among Indonesian university students reflects a serious mental health vulnerability caused by academic pressure, loneliness, loss of life meaning, and weak social support. This study explores the effectiveness of spiritual counseling in preventing student suicide and revitalizing its application in State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN). Using a literature review of studies published between 2015 and 2025 from Google Scholar and Garuda Dikti, the analysis applies a narrative synthesis to identify core themes of concepts, strategies, and implementation models. Results indicate that spiritual counseling reduces suicidal ideation by strengthening life purpose, promoting positive religious coping, easing psychological distress, and stabilizing emotional well-being. Prior studies highlight the efficacy of dzikir therapy, religious reflection, and worship integration in enhancing students’ resilience. The study recommends improving counselor competence, engaging academic advisors, and ensuring institutional support so spiritual counseling becomes an effective preventive and curative mental health strategy.

Abstract

Instagram has become one of the digital media platforms used to deliver Islamic counseling services. In addition to analyzing service innovations, this study also examines the transformation of religious values presented through Islamic counseling Instagram accounts. This research employs a descriptive content analysis approach using Klaus Krippendorff’s content analysis theory, focusing on two Instagram accounts: @relasi_consulting and @healyourself.id. Both accounts claim to provide counseling services and psychological content grounded in Islamic principles. The findings reveal a transformation of religious values as a form of innovation in Islamic counseling services through digital media. This transformation is reflected in three key dimensions: the digitalization of religion, Islamic cybercounseling, and the construction of the digital identity of Muslim counseling practitioners. The study highlights how social media platforms, particularly Instagram, can serve as effective spaces for integrating religious values and counseling practices in the digital era.

Abstract

The digital era requires Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) to strengthen character education while responding to technological advancements and the evolving needs of students. This study aimed to develop a Panca Jiwa Pondok-based Classical Guidance Model as a practical guide for Islamic boarding school counselors to internalize the core values of sincerity (ikhlas), simplicity, independence, Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah diniyah), and togetherness among students. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through interviews, observations, document analysis, validation questionnaires, and pretest–posttest assessments. Product validation involved two subject-matter experts, one media expert, and five Islamic boarding school counselors as prospective users. Product trials were conducted through a small-group trial involving 10 students and a large-group trial involving 40 students. The validation results indicated feasibility scores of 62% and 76% from the subject-matter experts, 92% from the media expert, and 77% from the prospective users after revisions were made based on the validators' recommendations. The implementation results demonstrated an increase in the students' average understanding of the Panca Jiwa Pondok values across all assessed aspects after participating in the classical guidance program. The final product of this study is a Panca Jiwa Pondok-based Classical Guidance Model accompanied by a practical implementation guide for Islamic boarding school counselors. The developed model was found to be feasible for use as a guideline in implementing classical guidance services to strengthen character education in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

Children are among the most vulnerable groups affected by hydrometeorological disasters because of their limited psychological coping capacity. Disaster-related traumatic experiences may cause emotional distress, impaired social interaction, and disrupted psychosocial functioning. This study explored the implementation of community-based Psychological First Aid (PFA) through therapeutic group activities to support the psychological well-being of children affected by flooding in Gampong Pulo Lhok, Ulim District, Pidie Jaya Regency, Indonesia. A qualitative study with a thematic design was conducted involving 60 elementary school-aged children (7-12 years) selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using participant observation, semi-structured interviews, field notes, and documentation and analyzed using Braun and Clarke thematic analysis. Four major themes emerged: (1) reduction of psychological distress, (2) enhancement of positive emotional expression, (3) restoration of social interaction and psychosocial functioning, and (4) emergence of hope and optimism. Community-based PFA contributed to improving emotional regulation, strengthening peer interaction, fostering a sense of safety, and facilitating children's adaptive expression of traumatic experiences. From the perspective of Islamic Guidance and Counseling, these findings indicate that community-based PFA can be integrated with Islamic values, including rahmah (compassion), ta'awun (mutual assistance), and raja' (hope), to provide a holistic psychosocial support model for children affected by disasters. This study contributes to the development of community-based crisis counseling practices within the framework of Islamic Guidance and Counseling.
