Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: Remote work has been one of the most effective solutions for companies during the recent pandemic. It has transformed our perspective on work by offering employees significant flexibility in both their work locations and schedules. Background Problems: With the pandemic now considered endemic, some individuals are choosing to return to the office, while others still prefer working from home. An employee's choice between office work and remote work is strongly tied to their work motivation. It is essential for companies to identify the factors driving these preferences to manage their employees effectively and efficiently. Novelty: The first comparative case study on employee motivation between remote work and office work in Indonesia's IT industry. Research Methods: This case study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing semi-structured interviews with six informants from an IT company. Finding/Results: Employees are more motivated when they work in the office compared to when they work from home, with office-based employees generally feeling more motivated due to factors like improved communication, tangible recognition, a stronger sense of achievement, better growth-supporting tools, and a more comfortable work environment. Conclusion: The research shows that working from the office is generally favored over working from home. However, the company should continue offering both options, not only due to the nature of the IT industry but also to combine the benefits of both in-office and remote work. leverage the benefits of both work environments.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: Gen-Z has started to take over the workforce both worldwide and in Indonesia. In particular, West Java and the city of Bandung have the highest numbers of Gen-Z workers and residents. Background Problems: However, challenges arise when Gen-Z workers frequently change jobs and move on from their positions. Novelty: This paper represents the first qualitative study investigating the factors that influence turnover intentions among Gen-Z employees in Bandung city. Research Methods: This research employs a qualitative and descriptive approach to provide a clear understanding of the causes or factors behind turnover intention, using interviews and observations. A total of 12 individuals from various industries in Bandung served as informants for this study. Finding/Results: 9 out of the 12 respondents interviewed reported experiencing more than one factor influencing their turnover intentions. These factors are interconnected, forming primary and secondary influences. The most common reasons driving Gen-Z employees’ desire to leave their jobs include heavy workloads linked to multiple job responsibilities, dissatisfaction with compensation, high work intensity, toxic work culture and leadership, and a lack of supportive work environment. Conclusion: This research aims to encourage companies to implement effective and suitable staffing practices. By analyzing job positions and creating clear job descriptions, companies can avoid overlapping responsibilities. Additionally, placing competent leaders can help prevent toxic work cultures and foster a supportive environment for Gen-Z employees, ultimately reducing their intention to leave the company.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study examines the moderating influence of bank competition, proxied by the Lerner index, on the impact of liquidity creation, measured using the Catfat method, on bank capital, proxied by the equity-to-total-assets ratio. Background Problems: Limited academic literature explores how competition moderates the relationship between liquidity creation and bank capital, which is essential for maintaining stability and risk absorption in the banking sector. Novelty: This study fills the gap by demonstrating that the effect of liquidity creation on bank capital depends on the level of bank competition. Research Methods: The study uses purposive sampling, covering 96 banks from 2013 to 2023, and applies panel data regression analysis with Hayes’ method. Control variables include ROA, LDR, NPL, GDP, inflation, and Bank Indonesia interest rates. Findings/Results: The results indicate that competition moderates the negative effect of liquidity creation on bank capital, weakening this impact. This suggests that competition enables banks to maintain higher capital levels. Conclusion: The study highlights the importance of competition in moderating the liquidity creation-capital relationship, with implications for bank management and regulatory policies.

Abstract

Background Problems: Corruption remains a serious and widespread issue worldwide. It hinders economic development, erodes public trust, and weakens organizational and institutional integrity. The 2023 Corruption Perception Index highlights major disparities between countries, with Denmark ranked as the least corrupt and Somalia as the most corrupt. These differences emphasize the need for effective anti-corruption strategies, particularly in nations with fragile governance systems. Despite this urgency, HRM is often underutilized as a tool in addressing corruption. Novelty: This study offers a fresh perspective by framing HRM not just as an administrative support system, but as a central player in building ethical behavior and reducing corruption risks. It departs from the dominant legal and institutional focus in existing literature by emphasizing internal, human-centric approaches such as organizational culture and values. Research Methods: The study employs a systematic literature review method. It identifies, analyzes, and synthesizes academic research that explores how HRM practices—such as ethics training, awareness programs, and value-based leadership can contribute to corruption prevention. Finding/Results: The review shows that HRM practices, when integrated with ethics-oriented initiatives, can help organizations develop internal mechanisms that promote accountability, ethical decision-making, and a strong culture of integrity. Conclusion: Incorporating anti-corruption principles into HRM policies is a sustainable and strategic approach. Ethical HR practices not only strengthen organizational culture but also contribute to national anti-corruption goals and broader social welfare.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: Work engagement is an important concept in human resource management that is closely related to employee productivity and job satisfaction, yet the research still leaves gaps in the understanding of global trends and collaboration among researchers. This study aims to map publication trends, major themes, and significant contributions from authors and institutions related to work engagement using a bibliometric approach. Background Problems: Previous studies emphasize leadership, organizational culture, and job resources as key factors in work engagement, with transformational leadership being a positive contributor, but gaps remain in understanding their interplay, especially in non-Western contexts, specific industries, and areas like digital transformation, gender dynamics, and alternative leadership styles. Novelty: This study provides a bibliometric analysis that highlights global collaboration, key topics such as digital transformation and the impact of COVID-19 on work engagement, and offers practical insights to help academics and practitioners improve employee engagement strategies. Research Methods: Data were analyzed from 1,626 articles in the Scopus database published in 1984-2024, with the help of VOSviewer software to analyze keywords, collaboration patterns, and geographical distribution. Finding/Results: The results show a significant increase in the number of publications since 2010, with themes such as transformational leadership and psychological empowerment being the main concerns, and the impact of the pandemic and digital technology on work engagement as the latest issues. This research makes an important contribution in identifying unexplored research areas, as well as providing guidance for academics and practitioners in designing strategies to improve employee engagement in an era of dynamic change.
