Sendikraf adalah jurnal akademik, akses terbuka, dan peer-review. Diterbitkan pertama kali pada bulan November 2020 oleh BBPPMPV Seni dan Budaya yang merupakan unit pelaksana teknis Direktorat Jenderal Vokasi Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset dan Teknologi Republik Indonesia. BBPPMPV Seni dan Budaya bertugas meningkatkan kompetensi guru pendidikan vokasi dan melaksanakan penjaminan mutu pendidikan vokasi. Jurnal ini diterbitkan 2 (dua) kali dalam setahun, yaitu pada bulan Mei dan November. Memuat artikel-artikel baik yang berbasis penelitian maupun kajian non-penelitian serta gagasan-gagasan konseptual dalam bidang pendidikan seni dan industri kreatif. Pengiriman artikel terbuka sepanjang tahun. Sebelum mengirimkan artikel, harap pastikan artikel tersebut sesuai dengan fokus dan gaya Sendikraf. Pedoman dan tata cara penyerahan dapat diakses lebih lanjut pada bagian penyerahan online.

The word ‘nyupak’ is a Javanese term which is often used in daily events or activities. ‘Nyupak’ is simply an activity of joining two objects so that the main object joined with another object can be used again according to its function. As a matter of fact, the term ‘nyupak’ is also used in karawitan organology in the process of (1) the tuning of ‘gender bumbungan’ (‘gender’ resonance) and (2) the tuning of gamelan, both in the form of blades and in the form of ‘pencon’. The current study aims at exploring the concept of ‘nyupak’ in Javanese traditional music instrument from acoustic perspective. The results of the study demonstrate that ‘nyupak’ in the tuning on ‘gender bumbungan’ (‘gender’ resonance) ranges from the intervals of 2 cents up to 12 cents, or written as 2 ≤ x ≤ 12 cents, and ‘nyupak’ in the tuning on gamelan ranges from the intervals of 10 cents up to 33 cents, or written as 10 ≤ x ≤33 cents. The result of the study provides a referential formulation for the tuning process of ‘gender bumbungan’ and gamelan, particularly to cope with ear sensitivity in capturing the tone frequency.

Leather puppet or classical Javanese ‘wayang’ contains rich moral teaching practiced in human life. The current article aims at describing and analyzing Pandawa Lima characters reflecting five principal nation character values designed by the government. Content analysis is employed to study verbal expressions obtained from the narration of play scripts and ‘wayang kulit’ performance. The result of the study demonstrates that the characters of Pandawa reinforce five principal nation character values, namely (1) Puntadewa completely represents religious character values with sub-values of belief in God, being pious and absolutely obedient to God, care to others, and being harmonious with environment; (2) Werkudara fully represents character values of nationalism with sub-values of love to the homeland, spirit of nationality, devotion to the country, and pluralism; (3) Arjuna partly represents the character values of being independent with sub-values of lifelong learners, hardworkers, and being resilient; (4) Nakula partly represents the character values of working together with the sub-values of collaboration, helping each other, and doing things in a voluntary way; (5) Sadewa partly represents integrity character values with sub-values of being keen on the truth, moral commitment, responsibility, and respecting others.

Identifying music chords is one of the students’ abilities in developing their creativity when learning Cultural Arts as the school subject. The mostly encountered problem at school is that students are less motivated to develop their ability to create music arrangement since they consider Cultural Art as a school subject proposed for only talented students. The current research aims at increasing the students’ ability to identify music chords using the technique of ‘Tupatma’ through direct instruction model. The classroom action research was carried out in two cycles including the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection in each cycle. Subjects were tenth graders of Food Technology Class 1 in SMKN 2 Godean in the academic year of 2017/2018. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaire, documentation, and field notes, while data analysis employed the technique of quantitative descriptive analysis. The result of the study demonstrates that the use of ‘Tupatma’ technique through direct instruction model can improve the average score of students’ learning completion rate in each cycle. Students’ average score in cycle 1 is 76.72 with the mastery percentage of 72%; and in cycle II students’ average score becomes 81.75 with the mastery percentage of 100 %.

Students’ boredom of drawing comic strips using manual techniques and the constraining condition of digital drawing devices are the results of problem identification that bring about the conduct of the current research. Hence, the research question proposed is how students’ ability in drawing comic strips can be improved by introducing them the ‘shapes tools’ available in Microsoft Word. Classroom action research of Kemmis and McTaggart model (1990) is employed to answer the research question with the research subjects of the eighth graders of SMP Negeri 1 Pacitan involved in two research cycles for three months comprising four steps in each cycle, namely (1) planning, (2) implementing, (3) observing, and (4) reflecting. Research results demonstrate that in pre-cycle condition, the average score of comic strips drawing skill is below the score of minimum mastery criteria. Having been introduced with shapes tools of Microsoft Word in research cycle 1 and 2, the average score of students’ drawing skill and the classical mastery score increase significantly. The use of ‘shapes’ and ‘shapes styles’ offers some good points in color processing: the work resembles a three-dimensional form, the process is fast, the work is easy to edit and to duplicate, the file size is small, and the work is relatively equivalent to graphic applications.

This article aims to present the results of a study on the utilization of pinhole camera as an alternative media of learning to implement 21st century skills in arts and culture learning in the primary schools through-the activities of making cameras, decorating cameras, taking pictures, and presenting pictures. Literature review is carried out to collect information on 21st century skills and the utilization of pinhole camera in the process of learning arts and culture in primary schools. The discussion puts forward students’ activities in the process of making pinhole camera, using the camera, and doing collaboration with other learning subjects. The result of the study comes up with the ideas of creating alternative learning materials and media through the utilization of pinhole camera which enables teachers to design contented and meaningful learning for students. Subsequently, this may remarkably substantiate the implementation of 21st century skills at schools in actual practices of problem solving, developing creativity, collaboration, and communication, to successfully achieve the learning objectives.

“Lir Ilir”, a folk song composed by Sunan Kalijaga, contains righteous meaning that teaches life lessons to human beings. The development of technology and information at the present time has triggered Indonesian children to be closer to and familiar with foreign cultures which may bring about negative impact on the preservation of Indonesian culture. Indonesian children become more familiar with foreign language songs rather than with Indonesian folk songs. Accordingly, the values of local culture may diminish over time when children tend to appreciate other cultures than their own one. The current study aims to create a visualization design of the lyrics of “Lir Ilir” as a complementary media of recognizing folk song to appeal mainly to children. The study employs Double Diamond design method approach. At the development phase, the cost-benefit matrix is used as a validation tool. The study results in four illustration posters employing the illustration styles of realistic, cute childlike, and spread illustrations in accordance with parts of stanzas in “Lir Ilir” lyrics. The visualization design of “Lir Ilir” may help Indonesian children to recognize, understand, and interpret the values of local cultures in Indonesia. Lyrics of Lir Ilir is one of the examples providing this purpose.

Podcasts have been growing into a new trend in the development of digital communication media in Indonesia. The public is interested in podcasts because the discussions presented are relaxed but informative. What is more, the podcasters as the owners and the hosts of the event are popular public figures in community. Podcasts usually take place in closed spaces or indoors which are instagrammable with their attractive and artistic interior design. It implies that podcast studios are built at great expense. The current study aims to examine interior design elements essential for the existence of a podcast studio based on the viewpoint, the principles of balance, elements of space, color, texture, lighting concepts, the use of furniture, and other elements to fill the space. Observation results of podcast studios’ artistic layout confirm that interior design elements are added values attached to the setting of the spaces. Remarkably, there is a tendency in interior display of podcast studios to expose contemporary lifestyles of the owners in conjunction with architecture development and urban interior design.

Young teens at the age of 12-14 years old are in the pseudo-naturalism development phase of drawing. At the range of the respective ages they are already able to draw by having attention to details, understanding the concept of space, and producing drawings that look realistic. As a matter of fact, the eight graders’ drawing works at SMP Negeri 12 Kota Bima have not yet demonstrated the result of the expected target on that phase. Classroom action research was conducted to fnd out about the problem and to help students increase the quality of their drawing. The improvement of students’ learning achievement in drawing using multifunction puzzle media in the learning process was investigated in the current classroom action research. The subjects of the research were the eight graders of Class VIII-A in SMP Negeri 12 Kota Bima in the academic year of 2016/2017. Data were collected using assignment test method. The learning achievement in drawing increases quantitatively if students can achieve the minimum class average score of 75. The result of the research demonstrates that students’ scores increase significantly after experiencing the learning process using multifunction puzzle media. The average students’ score increased from 72.58 in cycle 1 to 78.33 in cycle 2

The current case study aims at describing arts integration approach through the intertwined learning materials of theatre and music in the process of an online training program for arts teachers conducted by BBPPMPV Seni dan Budaya in 2020. Arts integration is an approach that blends content and skills from one arts element with another arts element (music, visual arts, dance, or theater), or with another academic subject. The case study focuses on two research questions, namely (1) How are the design of theater and music learning materials constructed through arts integration approach in an arts teacher training program? and (2) How do teacher trainees describe their theater and music learning experiences through arts integration approach? Qualitative data gathered from a sequence of learning process observation, documentation of participants’ assignment results, reflection process, and results of participants’ work. The results of the study demonstrate that (1) theater and music learning materials through arts integration approach were designed using the linkage factor of the two arts elements which were subsequently taught intertwiningly, and (2) the integration of two arts elements was described by the teacher trainees as a brand-new, engaging, and demanding learning experience which may eventually be an alternative approach they may possibly adopt for the online arts learning in public schools during pandemic time.

Theater Expertise Program of SMKN 1 Kasihan Bantul offers modern theater and local theater in its learning program. “Ketoprak” is the major subject taught in the local theater. Hence, the learning of acting also conforms to the acting of “ketoprak”. The objective of learning development in grade X to grade XII is to provide students with the abilities needed to play roles in various forms of “ketoprak”. The current research aims to expose the underlying consideration of determining “ketoprak” as the major subject of local theater learning in Theater Expertise Program at SMKN 1 Kasihan Bantul, and how the school attempts to develop the learning process of this subject. Qualitative research was employed in August to October 2021. Data collected through documentation study, interviews, and observation. The sources of data were field notes, documentation of students’ work, and interview results. Results of the study demonstrate that the popularity and the existence of “ketoprak” turn out to be the essential justification of determining “ketoprak” as the major subject of the local theater acting learning; besides, it is a form of local theater preservation and cultural development in theater as well. Mixing modern theater acting techniques with “ketoprak” acting style is done to improve local theater acting learning. The combined technique is subsequently employed in the production of “ketoprak lesung”, “ketoprak ongkek”, and “ketoprak pendapan” performances. The most recent attempt in this line of work is creating cinematographic (film) “ketoprak” although the techniques of acting in front of the camera have not yet been fully implemented
