DIRASAH: Jurnal Kajian Islam is a scholarly journal published by Litera Academica Publishing, under the Yayasan Amal Ibnu Shabil (Based on Akte Pendirian Yayasan No. 08, January 22, 2022), aimed at disseminating research findings and scientific studies in various fields of Islamic sciences. The journal prioritizes the quality and originality of articles that contribute to the development of Islamic studies, both in terms of theory, methodology, and application. DIRASAH: Jurnal Kajian Islam accepts articles from academics, researchers, and practitioners who are competent in their fields. Each submitted article undergoes a rigorous review process by experts to ensure the quality and relevance of the publication. DIRASAH: Jurnal Kajian Islam is published four times a year (January, April, July, and October) and is available online through the Open Journal System (OJS), facilitating wide access and distribution. The article will be published in Bahasa Indonesia and English. We invite researchers and academics to contribute and disseminate knowledge through this journal for the advancement of Islamic studies and the enlightenment of the community. Authors who want to submit their manuscript to the editorial office of DIRASAH: Jurnal Kajian Islam should obey the writing guidelines. If the manuscript submitted is not appropriate with the guidelines or written in a different format, it will be rejected by the editors before further reviewed. Abstract

The learning of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) in Islamic boarding schools is an intellectual tradition deeply rooted in Indonesia's Islamic education system. One of the books studied at Pondok Pesantren Raudlatul Muhibbin Al-Mustainiyyah Surakarta is Kanzur Roghibin by Mahalli, particularly in the chapter on marriage (nikah). This article aims to examine the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in the learning process of this book. Using a qualitative descriptive method through observation, interviews, and documentation, this study found that the contextual approach helps students understand fiqh material not only textually but also applicatively in daily life.

Abstract

This study examines the concept and implementation of productive waqf from the perspective of the Fathul Wahhab book in the curriculum at Pondok Pesantren Raudlatul Muhibbin Al-Mustainiyyah Surakarta. The main problem is the underutilization of waqf land in Indonesia for productive purposes, despite waqf’s great potential as a community economic resource. The qualitative research method involved literature study, field observation, content analysis, and data triangulation from the Fathul Wahhab book and pesantren administrators. The results indicate that productive waqf aligns with classical fiqh principles emphasizing the preservation of principal assets and sustainable distribution of benefits. Fathul Wahhab highlights the crucial role of nazhir as both trustworthy and professional in managing productive waqf to maximize economic benefits for beneficiaries. Proper management of productive waqf can foster economic independence and support social and religious development in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) approach to zina (adultery) as contained in Imam Ibn Ruslan Asy-Syafi'i's Alfiyyah Zubad, a book taught in the Islamic texts course at the Raudlatul Muhibbin Al-Mustainiyyah Islamic Boarding School in Surakarta. The background of this research is based on the importance of understanding Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh jinayah), particularly the laws of zina (adultery), in shaping the morals of students while maintaining the relevance of classical teachings to the context of modern Islamic boarding school education. This study aims to analyze the legal content of zina (adultery) in the Alfiyyah Zubad book, its teaching methods in Islamic boarding schools, and the educational values it embodies. The method used is a qualitative-descriptive approach, with data collection techniques through classroom observations, interviews with ustadz (teachers) and students, and a textual analysis of the book. The results indicate that Alfiyyah Zubad contains a comprehensive explanation of zina, encompassing its definition, conditions, proof, and punishment, emphasizing the principle of caution (dar' al-hudud bisy-syubuhat). This book is taught in Islamic boarding schools using the bandongan and sorogan methods, which combine legal and moral aspects. In conclusion, the fiqh approach in Alfiyyah Zubad serves not only to foster an understanding of Islamic law but also as a medium for internalizing the values of purity, honor, and moral responsibility among students.

Abstract

This study discusses the concept of inheritance distribution in Kitab Fathul Wahhab by Shaykh Zakariya al-Anshari and its application in the learning process at Pondok Pesantren Raudlatul Muhibbin Al-Mustainiyyah Surakarta. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a combination of library research and field interviews. The findings show that Fathul Wahhab explains inheritance distribution based on four main elements: pillars, causes, impediments, and heirs, with portions determined by Islamic law, namely ½, ¼, ⅛, ⅔, ⅓, and ⅙. This distribution reflects a balanced form of justice according to social responsibility and kinship proximity. In the pesantren learning context, the book is used to strengthen students’ understanding of faraidh (Islamic inheritance law) through the sorogan and bandongan methods. Overall, Fathul Wahhab plays an essential role in preserving the Islamic scholarly tradition and shaping a fair and contextual understanding of inheritance law within the pesantren environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of justice in inheritance distribution as taught in the Alfiyyah Zubad Book and its implementation in the learning process at the Raudlatul Muhibbin Al-Mustainiyyah Islamic Boarding School in Surakarta. The background to this research stems from the phenomenon of inconsistencies in the understanding and application of Islamic inheritance law within the Islamic boarding school environment, despite using the same classical teaching sources. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were obtained through participant observation, in-depth interviews with educators and students, and document analysis of books, teaching notes, and syllabi. The results indicate that the Alfiyyah Zubad Book emphasizes proportional justice based on sharia provisions, where each heir receives a share according to their position. However, in practice, variations in interpretation between educators and students were found, particularly in the application of the concept of al-'awl and cases of incompletely divided assets. Rounding off the share and family deliberation are frequently used practical solutions, although they deviate slightly from the book's formula. The conclusion of this study confirms that Alfiyyah Zubad provides a strong theoretical foundation for inheritance justice, but its implementation in Islamic boarding schools requires pedagogical innovation and in-depth training for caregivers. Recommendations focus on the development of contextual modules and the integration of case-based learning methods to strengthen the understanding of inheritance justice among students.

Abstract

This research examines the relevance of the Chapter of Marriage (Bab Nikah) in Hasyiyah Qalyubi wa Umairah within a contemporary context through the lens of learning practices at the Raudlatul Muhibbin Al-Mustainiyyah Islamic Boarding School in Surakarta. The study stems from the importance of understanding classical fiqh teachings derived from traditional Islamic scholarship (kitab kuning) as an intellectual heritage, while also evaluating their compatibility with the social dynamics and modern marriage laws in Indonesia. The objective of this research is to analyze how students’ understanding of the Chapter of Marriage is contextualized in the educational practices of the pesantren, as well as to assess the extent to which the classical fiqh values remain relevant to the current social and legal realities of society. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach, using data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and literature studies on both the classical text and students’ learning activities. The findings indicate that the pesantren maintains traditional teaching methods (bandongan and sorogan), yet adapts them through contextual discussions on modern marriage issues such as marriage registration, women’s rights, and the role of guardians (wali) within the national legal system. In conclusion, the Chapter of Marriage in Hasyiyah Qalyubi wa Umairah retains a high degree of relevance when taught through a critical and contextual approach that integrates classical texts with contemporary needs, thereby strengthening the pesantren’s role as both a preserver of tradition and an agent of socio-religious transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how the transformation of teaching methods in the Marriage Chapter (Bab Nikah) of the Fathul Qarib book is implemented at Raudlatul Muhibbin Al-Mustainiyyah Islamic Boarding School in Surakarta. The main objective of this research is to understand the forms of change, strategies, and impacts of the transformation of kitab kuning (classical Islamic text) teaching on students’ understanding, particularly in the context of fiqh al-munakahat (Islamic family law). This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with the head of the boarding school, teachers, and students, as well as documentation of learning activities. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing based on the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that the transformation of teaching the Marriage Chapter involves innovations in teaching approaches, the use of more varied learning media, and the contextualization of material with contemporary social issues. Teaching no longer focuses solely on theoretical understanding and text memorization but also emphasizes practical application and the relevance of marriage law within Indonesia’s social context. This transformation allows Fathul Qarib teaching to maintain its classical scholarly essence while becoming more applicable and responsive to modern challenges.This research is expected to contribute to the development of kitab kuning teaching methods in Islamic boarding schools and serve as a reference for implementing contextual, interactive, and relevant teaching strategies in Islamic jurisprudence education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the philosophical construction and fundamental concepts of the Islamic financial system within the framework of strengthening value-based and sustainability-oriented governance in Indonesia. The focus of the study includes the values of tawḥīd (monotheism), amānah (trustworthiness), justice, and maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah (objectives of Islamic law) as the core foundations, along with their translation into the operational principles of financial institutions. Conceptually, the Islamic financial system is built upon the prohibition of riba (usury), gharar (excessive uncertainty), and maysir (gambling), combined with asset-backed financing and risk-sharing principles that fundamentally distinguish it from the conventional financial system. This research employs a qualitative-descriptive approach through library research, analyzing data from academic literature, fatwas, and relevant regulations using content and thematic analysis. The findings indicate that Islamic finance is rooted in a tawḥīdic worldview that regards wealth as a trust, transactions as acts of worship, and social-economic justice as its ultimate goal. However, the practice of Islamic financial institutions in Indonesia remains dominated by debt-based financing, which risks diverging from the ideals of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. To bridge the gap between ideality and reality, value-based governance emphasizing substance compliance is required, alongside the implementation of Value-Based Intermediation (VBI) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks to strengthen social and environmental impact. The integration of social and commercial finance—through innovations such as waqf-linked sukuk and blended finance—is expected to enhance inclusion and sustainability. Islamic finance will only achieve substantial relevance when the values of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah are genuinely implemented in institutional practices and public policy design.

Abstract

This study discusses the role of witnesses in the Islamic judicial system based on the book Alfiyyah Zubad by Imam Ahmad bin Ruslan al-Syafi'i and its implementation in learning at the Raudlatul Muhibbin Al-Mustainiyyah Islamic Boarding School in Surakarta. In Islamic law, testimony (syahadah) plays a crucial role as the primary tool for upholding justice, while also reflecting honesty and moral integrity. In Alfiyyah Zubad, witnesses not only convey legal information but also serve as guardians of social morality. Sheikh Ahmad bin Ruslan emphasized the requirements for a witness, such as being just, sane, not wicked, and having a good moral reputation, so that testimony encompasses legal, ethical, and spiritual aspects. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method. Data were obtained through the study of classical books (turats), observations of Alfiyyah Zubad learning at the Islamic boarding school, and interviews with caregivers and senior students. The results show that learning the book not only emphasizes understanding legal texts but also shapes the character and integrity of students so that they are morally responsible in social life. Testimonial values ​​such as honesty, trustworthiness, and justice are incorporated into moral education in Islamic boarding schools. Thus, the concept of witness in Alfiyyah Zubad is relevant to contemporary Islamic legal education. Islamic boarding schools play a crucial role in instilling legal ethics through the study of classical texts that are both textual and applicable, enabling students not only to understand the law but also to practice it in real life.

Abstract

This study addresses the epistemological fragmentation between cultural and structural da’wah that undermines the transformative mission of Islamic propagation in contemporary Muslim societies. The main research question explores how cultural values, institutional structures, and community empowerment can be integrated into a transdisciplinary framework for sustainable Islamic social transformation. Using a qualitative exploratory design grounded in a constructivist paradigm, the study employs a transdisciplinary approach that merges community development theory, Islamic communication, and public policy analysis. Data were gathered through literature mapping of Scopus-indexed publications, document analysis of Islamic development programs, and expert interviews with da’wah scholars and practitioners. The findings indicate that the dichotomy between cultural and structural da’wah has weakened the link between spiritual values and institutional policies. Through a community development approach, da’wah can shift from a normative religious activity to a transformative social movement. The study introduces the Integrative Da’wah Framework, which bridges local wisdom, institutional support, and digital engagement, providing a novel epistemological basis for reconstructing Islamic social sciences and promoting participatory, inclusive social policies in the digital era.
