Abstract

This study was designed to transform mathematics instruction into a more engaging and practical learning experience, emphasizing real-world applications. The primary objective was to enhance conceptual understanding and mathematical self-efficacy among Grade 11 senior high school students in Statistics and Probability during the 2021-2022 academic year's second quarter. The findings demonstrated that mathematical self-efficacy positively correlates with conceptual understanding, with high-efficacy students showing greater confidence and positive attitudes toward mathematics. The Abstract-Visual Representation-Concrete (A-V-C) instructional approach proved effective in teaching Pearson product moment correlation and regression analysis. This method progresses from abstract concepts through behavioral modeling to exploratory concrete experiences, enabling students to develop comprehensive understanding through structured, hands-on learning.

Abstract

Labor pain is one of the most intense sensations experienced by women during childbirth, particularly during the first stage of labor. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of back massage with Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) on the intensity of active labor pain during the first stage. The research employed a quantitative, pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 18 mothers in active phase labor at IMP Restu Bunda, West Tulang Bawang Regency. Pain levels were measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after the back massage with VCO. Results showed that the average labor pain intensity before the intervention was 7.0, and after the back massage with VCO, the average pain decreased to 5.2. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test revealed a significant reduction in pain intensity (p-value = 0.000), indicating that back massage with VCO effectively reduced labor pain. Seventeen respondents reported a decrease in pain, while only one respondent experienced no change. The findings suggest that back massage with VCO is a viable non-pharmacological method for managing labor pain, with minimal side effects.

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of a self-monitoring pocket book in improving compliance with Fe tablet consumption and reducing anemia among adolescent girls at Taruna Utama Vocational School, East Lampung Regency. Using a quantitative quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, 51 female adolescents were selected through stratified random sampling. Compliance and anemia status data were collected before and after a one-month intervention, during which participants received a pocket book with anemia education and a consumption tracking table. The results show that compliance with Fe tablet consumption increased from 56.9% to 82.4%, and the proportion of non-anemic participants rose from 62.7% to 88.2%. The McNemar test revealed significant improvements in compliance (p = 0.001) and anemia status (p = 0.002).
