Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Tourism-based Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in supporting local economies in coastal destinations such as Carita Beach, Indonesia. Despite their economic potential, these enterprises face significant uncertainty due to fluctuating tourist arrivals and seasonal demand patterns. The originality of this study lies in applying a simplified Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) framework tailored to small-scale, tourism-based MSMEs using empirical field data. This study aims to analyze the cost and benefit structure and evaluate the economic feasibility of MSME development in the tourism sector. The research was conducted on February 15–17, 2026, using an economic managerial approach, with data collected through observations and in-depth interviews involving 50 MSME actors across culinary, rental, and tourism service sectors. The empirical results reveal that all business categories demonstrate a Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) greater than 1, indicating economic feasibility. Specifically, rental MSMEs show the highest BCR (1.48), followed by tourism services (1.45) and culinary MSMEs (1.23). However, variations in cost structures and dependency on tourist flows influence the level of profitability and resilience. The findings imply that strengthening cost efficiency, improving basic financial recording practices, and adopting adaptive business strategies are essential to enhance the sustainability of MSMEs in tourism-dependent areas.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the phenomenon of inconsistent teacher performance at Sekolah Islam Harapan Ibu (SIHI), where the results of the 2024–2025 internal evaluation showed a performance score in the “Fairly Good” category (3.8), with the lowest scores in the areas of instructional innovation (3.6) and professional participation (3.4). There is a gap where long tenure does not guarantee productivity, as well as the emergence of symptoms of burnout and stagnation in teaching methods among senior teachers. This study aims to empirically analyze the influence of teaching experience and organizational culture on teacher performance, as well as to test the role of work motivation as a mediating variable in this relationship. This explanatory quantitative study employed a census sampling technique involving 87 teachers at SIHI South Jakarta. Data were collected via a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the assistance of SmartPLS 4 software. Testing was conducted through evaluation of the outer model (validity/reliability) and the inner model (R-Square, Q-Square, and bootstrapping). The results of the testing showed that organizational culture has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (β=0.365; p=0.000) and work motivation (β=0.729; p=0.000). Work motivation was also found to significantly influence performance (β=0.269; p=0.002) and acted as a partial mediator (mediation coefficient=0.196). Conversely, teaching experience does not significantly influence performance (p=0.257) or work motivation (p=0.052). This model exhibits very strong explanatory power with an R-Square value of 0.873 for teacher performance. Schools are advised not to use seniority as the primary parameter in performance evaluations but rather to focus on strengthening an organizational culture based on Islamic values and integrity. Practically, the foundation needs to implement a “Culture Maintenance Program” to uphold religious values, as well as design a periodic feedback system regarding student progress to stimulate teachers' intrinsic motivation.

Abstract

This study offers originality by examining access to financing among culinary MSMEs through the combined lens of audited financial statements, financial literacy, and perceived audit costs, a relationship that remains underexplored in the local context of Banyumas Regency. The study aims to analyze whether these three factors influence the ease of access to external financing for culinary MSMEs. A quantitative explanatory approach with a cross-sectional survey design was employed. Data were collected from 135 owners/managers of culinary MSMEs affiliated with ASPIKMAS Patikraja, Banyumas Regency, using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. The data were analyzed using PLS-SEM with bootstrapping of 5,000 resamples. The empirical results show that the model has very weak explanatory power (R² = 0.011), and none of the proposed predictors significantly affect financing access: audited financial statements (β = −0.097; p = 0.256), financial literacy (β = −0.002; p = 0.977), and perceived audit costs (β = −0.039; p = 0.670). These findings imply that financing access among culinary MSMEs is likely shaped more by contextual lending factors, such as collateral, cash-flow stability, business legality, and relationship lending, than by audit-related attributes alone

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between capital market development and labor absorption in the financial sector through a systematic literature review approach. The originality of this research lies in its specific focus on the sectoral employment impact of capital market development within the financial industry, an area that has received limited comprehensive synthesis in prior studies. The objective of this study is to identify the patterns of relationship, transmission mechanisms, and structural changes associated with capital market expansion and employment dynamics in the financial sector. The research method applies a systematic literature review by analyzing peer-reviewed journal articles indexed nationally and internationally within the period 2000–2024. The empirical findings indicate that capital market development generally contributes positively to labor absorption through the expansion of financial institutions, increased trading activities, and financial product innovation. However, technological advancement, digitalization, and automation significantly reshape labor demand toward technology-based and analytical competencies. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of aligning capital market development policies with human capital enhancement strategies to ensure inclusive and sustainable job creation in the financial sector

Abstract

Zakat is a fundamental instrument of Islamic economics with significant potential for poverty alleviation and community empowerment. Despite the growing body of research on zakat’s social-economic roles, there remains a research gap regarding the specific mechanisms through which zakat programs influence the consumption behavior transformation of mustahik across diverse Muslim-majority contexts. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of zakat as an instrument for civil society empowerment in changing mustahik consumption behavior through a systematic literature review. It also identifies key factors influencing the success of zakat programs in establishing more productive and sustainable consumption patterns. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with PRISMA protocol was applied. Data were sourced from articles published during 2013–2023 in international databases including Emerald Insight, Google Scholar, and DOAJ. Of 47 articles initially identified, 11 were selected through rigorous inclusion criteria for in-depth thematic analysis. The findings reveal that zakat significantly impacts mustahik consumption behavior by shifting patterns from consumptive to productive. Key success factors include program quality, financial literacy, sustained mentoring, institutional governance, and local cultural context. This study contributes a novel synthesis framework linking zakat governance dimensions with behavioral transformation outcomes, providing evidence-based policy recommendations for zakat institutions.

Abstract

Despite the widespread adoption of digital financial tools, the transition from manual to automated financial record-keeping among digital natives remains underexplored. This study aims to examine the role of digital applications in transforming personal financial management practices among Generation Z in Indonesia. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using semi-structured interviews conducted between August and October 2025 with students and young entrepreneurs at STIE Ganesha, selected through purposive sampling. The findings indicate that digital financial applications significantly shift financial practices from informal and inconsistent methods toward more structured and data-driven approaches. Commonly used applications, such as Money Lover, Money+, and Walletya, support expense tracking and financial evaluation. However, the level of utilization varies depending on users’ self-control and digital financial literacy. While these tools enhance financial awareness, they do not necessarily lead to sustained financial discipline. This study highlights that digital applications function primarily as facilitators rather than determinants of financial behavior. Their effectiveness depends on users’ ability to interpret and apply financial information. Therefore, strengthening digital financial literacy is essential to ensure that technology adoption leads to more sustainable financial practices among Generation Z

Abstract

This study examines fear of failure as a psychological barrier to entrepreneurial intention among students at STIE Ganesha and identifies factors shaping their risk perception. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, involving 12 undergraduate students (semesters 4–8) selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis. The findings show that 100% of informants experienced fear of failure, primarily in the form of fear of financial loss (83%), fear of social stigma (75%), and self-doubt (67%). Risk perception is influenced by overprotective family communication, exposure to negative business narratives on social media, and limited practical training in risk management. These results indicate that fear of failure is shaped not only by individual psychological factors but also by social and educational contexts. The study implies the importance of integrating risk management training and psychological coping strategies into entrepreneurship education, along with mentoring programs involving experienced entrepreneurs to strengthen students’ entrepreneurial readiness.
