Abstract

Mastery of basic vocabulary is a crucial component in Arabic language learning, as it serves as the foundation for other language skills. However, in practice, vocabulary instruction often focuses on mechanical memorization without contextualization, causing vocabulary to be easily forgotten and difficult to apply in sentences. This study aims to improve students’ mastery of basic Arabic vocabulary through the application of the contextual memorization method. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a descriptive qualitative approach and was conducted with seventh-grade students at a junior high school in an Islamic boarding school in Karawang during the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The learning activities included introducing vocabulary meanings, understanding singular and plural forms, reading contextual hiwar, providing sentence models, having students construct their own sentences, and conducting evaluations through exercises. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery, as reflected in the increase in the average score from 65.46 to 87.86. In addition to improved learning outcomes, positive changes were observed in students’ learning behavior, including increased participation, motivation, and ability to use vocabulary appropriately in context. These findings demonstrate that the contextual memorization method is effective in helping students understand the meaning, function, and use of vocabulary in a more meaningful and applicable manner. Therefore, this method can serve as an alternative strategy for teaching Arabic vocabulary at the junior high school level

Abstract

Murajaah is an essential activity in maintaining the quality of Qur’anic memorization among students. However, in practice, students’ motivation to engage in murajaah often declines due to monotonous methods and a strong dependence on teacher guidance. This condition highlights the need for instructional innovation through the integration of digital technology. This study aims to describe the use of the Tarteel application in motivating murajaah activities among eleventh-grade Madrasah Aliyah students. This study employed a qualitative approach using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research participants were eleventh-grade students enrolled in a Qur’anic murajaah program at a Madrasah Aliyah. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation over a two-week implementation period. Qualitative data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that during the initial stage of using the Tarteel application, students began to show interest in technology-based learning media, particularly due to the immediate feedback features on recitation errors. However, this initial interest did not lead to a significant improvement in students’ motivation for murajaah. In the subsequent stage, although the use of the application was implemented in a more structured and scheduled manner, students’ murajaah motivation remained relatively stable. There were no substantial changes in the frequency of murajaah, recitation quality, self-confidence, or daily murajaah habits. Students continued to feel more comfortable submitting their recitation directly to teachers rather than using the application. In conclusion, the Tarteel application functions as a technical support tool in murajaah activities but has not been able to significantly enhance students’ murajaah motivation without stronger pedagogical strategies and sustained teacher guidance.

Abstract

This classroom action research (CAR) is based on the low mastery of Arabic vocabulary among first-grade elementary school students, which is caused by monotonous learning methods and a lack of visual media support, resulting in students' language skills not developing optimally. This study aims to improve students' vocabulary mastery through the application of the Direct Method (ṭarīqah mubāsyarah) by utilizing concrete objects in the classroom environment as contextual visual learning media. The method used was Kemmis & McTaggart's collaborative classroom action research (CAR), which was carried out in two action cycles with 19 students. Data collection was conducted through oral and written tests, observations, and interviews. The main results of the study showed a very significant and consistent improvement from the pre-cycle stage to cycle II. The average student scores increased significantly after the method was applied. This improvement was supported by qualitative findings that students became more active, enthusiastic, and able to directly associate words with their meanings, which resulted in more accurate pronunciation and stronger vocabulary retention. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the Direct Method based on concrete objects is proven to be effective in improving the process and enhancing the learning outcomes of Arabic vocabulary for students

Abstract

Proficiency in reading the Qur'an according to tajwid rules is an essential competence that must be mastered by students of Islamic Junior High School (Madrasah Tsanawiyah). However, the reality of learning indicates that students' Qur'anic reading proficiency remains suboptimal, particularly in the aspects of makhārijul ḥurūf (articulation points of letters) and the application of tajwid laws. This study aims to improve the quality of students' Qur'anic reading through the implementation of the talaqqi method using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach. This study employed a collaborative CAR design conducted in two cycles, comprising the stages of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects were 7th-grade students of a Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Bekasi Regency. Data collection techniques included practical Qur'anic reading tests, observation of student activities, interviews, and documentation. The assessment instrument utilized an analytic rubric covering the aspects of makhārijul ḥurūf, ahkām al-tajwīd, and reading fluency. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results indicated that the implementation of the talaqqi method significantly improved the quality of students' Qur'anic reading. Classical mastery learning increased from 30% in the pre-cycle to 50% in Cycle I, and reached 80% in Cycle II, with the class average score increasing from 76.8 to 81.8. These findings demonstrate that the talaqqi method is effective in correcting recurring reading errors through direct correction and intensive guidance. Thus, the talaqqi method serves as a strategic learning alternative to enhance the Qur'anic reading competence of Madrasah Tsanawiyah students

Abstract

Arabic language learning at the elementary school level plays an essential role in developing students’ basic language skills. However, students’ learning outcomes are often not optimal, particularly in listening and speaking skills, due to the use of less interactive teaching methods. This study aims to describe the transformation of audiolingual learning in improving Arabic language learning outcomes of second-grade students at an Islamic elementary school in Karawang Regency. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, involving 28 students as research subjects. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, observations of teacher and student activities, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques based on the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) of 70. The results indicated a gradual improvement in students’ learning mastery, increasing from 75% in the pre-cycle to 96.43% in cycle I, and reaching 100% in cycle II. In addition to improving learning outcomes, audiolingual learning also enhanced students’ engagement, confidence, and enthusiasm in Arabic language learning. Therefore, the transformation of audiolingual learning proved to be effective in improving Arabic language learning outcomes at the elementary school level and can be considered an appropriate instructional alternative for young learners

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of the Socrative application as an online assessment tool in the context of digital learning. This literature review examines national studies from 2021–2025 that discuss Socrative’s role in formative and summative assessments, its impact on learning outcomes, and its effectiveness in increasing student engagement. The reviewed studies indicate that Socrative provides real-time feedback, automatic scoring, interactive quiz formats, and flexible access across devices, making it a practical and efficient tool for digital classroom assessment. The analysis also shows that Socrative contributes to improving students’ conceptual understanding and motivation, particularly when used in game-based or student-centered evaluation models. However, limitations remain, including its inability to assess complex analytical responses and the dependency on stable internet access. The findings suggest that Socrative is highly suitable for formative assessment and digital learning environments, although further research is needed to explore its use in higher-order evaluation. This study contributes to a comprehensive understanding of Socrative’s pedagogical benefits and challenges within contemporary digital education.

Abstract

Arabic language learning, particularly mahārah al-kitābah (writing skill), requires effective instructional strategies and learning media due to differences in students’ abilities, concentration levels, and learning pace. One of the common problems at the elementary school level is students’ low proficiency in writing Arabic accurately, which is influenced by the limited use of engaging and contextual learning media. Visual image media are considered to have strong potential in helping students understand abstract Arabic language concepts through concrete visual stimulation. This study aims to describe the implementation of image media in teaching mahārah al-kitābah, analyze students’ responses, and examine the contribution of image media to improving Arabic writing skills of sixth-grade students at one Islamic Integrated Elementary School (SDIT) in East Bekasi. This research employed a qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. Observations were conducted to examine the learning process, interviews were carried out with the Arabic language teacher, and documentation was obtained from students’ written test results. The findings indicate that the use of image media creates a more interactive learning environment, increases students’ motivation and participation, and assists learners in expressing ideas, organizing vocabulary, and constructing sentences in accordance with Arabic language rules. The evaluation results show that students’ writing performance falls into good to very good categories. Therefore, image media can be concluded as a simple yet effective instructional medium for enhancing mahārah al-kitābah at the elementary school level.

Abstract

In the era of Society 5.0, history education faces a major challenge in the form of the stigma that it is a boring subject that focuses too much on memorization. This has an impact on low student engagement, both behaviorally, emotionally, and cognitively. In fact, 21st-century education requires a paradigm shift from teacher-centered learning to student-centered learning in order to develop critical thinking skills and historical awareness. Using library research methods through a qualitative approach, this study synthesizes four main models: Project-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, Gamification, and Inquiry-Based Learning. The results of the analysis show that PjBL is effective in building authentic experiences through concrete products, PBL hones analytical skills on historical issues, Gamification increases extrinsic motivation through game elements, and Inquiry encourages research independence. Although these models are significantly capable of activating students' behavioral, emotional, and cognitive participation, their implementation still faces challenges in the form of digital infrastructure gaps and limited teacher competencies. This study concludes that the adaptive combination of various innovative models is the key to transforming static historical narratives into relevant and collaborative learning processes for the 21st century generation

Abstract

Vocabulary plays a fundamental role in English language learning as it supports the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. However, many students still experience difficulties in mastering vocabulary, which affects their motivation and interest in learning. This study aims to examine students’ interest in learning English vocabulary through Live Worksheets and to identify factors influencing their engagement. The research was conducted at SMA Alfaqih Muqaddam Kubu Raya and involved ninth-grade students. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through observations, interviews, and field notes. The findings show that most students (80%) demonstrated a high level of interest in learning vocabulary using Live Worksheets. Interactive features, ease of access, immediate feedback, and attractive visual design contributed to increased student motivation and participation. Interview results further indicate that students perceived Live Worksheets as enjoyable, easy to use, and effective in supporting vocabulary mastery. Students’ interest was influenced by internal factors such as health, cognitive ability, attention, talent, and learning readiness, as well as external factors including family support and the school environment. Overall, Live Worksheets are an effective digital learning medium that enhances student engagement and supports interactive vocabulary instruction.

Abstract

Child-friendly education is a crucial approach in primary education aimed at creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that respects children’s rights and encourages their active participation. Primary schools play a strategic role as the foundational stage of formal education in shaping students’ cognitive, social, and emotional development. However, despite its growing recognition, the implementation of child-friendly education in primary schools continues to face various challenges at both policy and practice levels. This article aims to systematically examine the challenges of implementing child-friendly education within a global context, particularly at the primary school level. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by analyzing peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2015 and 2025 and indexed in relevant academic databases. The review process involved the application of clear inclusion and exclusion criteria, systematic literature searches using predefined keywords, and thematic synthesis of research findings. The results indicate that the major challenges in implementing child-friendly education include inadequate supporting facilities and infrastructure, limited teachers’ understanding and competencies regarding child-friendly education principles, weak policy implementation and monitoring, and insufficient parental and community involvement. Furthermore, the persistence of violence and bullying in school environments suggests that child-friendly education has not been optimally implemented. This study is expected to contribute both theoretically and practically by providing a comprehensive understanding of the existing challenges and offering insights for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders to strengthen the sustainable implementation of child-friendly education in primary schools.
