Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) the extent of flood prone areas in Koto Tangah District. (2) the level of experience of the people of Koto Tangah Subdistrict in dealing with flood disasters. (3) the level of community response in Koto Tangah Subdistrict in facing flood disasters. This research uses descriptive quantitative method with data collection through questionnaires and interviews, random sampling. The variables used are experience, response and preparedness variables in the face of flood disasters. Determination of the sample using the Slovin formula with a population of residents of Koto Tangah District (203840) and the sample used was 100 samples. Data analysis used the JASP application, then regression analysis was conducted to understand the influencing factor. This study shows that (1) Flood hazards in Koto Tangah Subdistrict, areas with Low flood areas covering 2.21 hectares, Medium covering 2068.59 hectares, High covering 2157.69 hectares and areas that do not experience flooding covering 18044.86 hectares. (2) The results of the regression test between the experience variable and flood preparedness provide results that illustrate a weak but significant relationship at the marginal level (R = 0.196, R2 = 0.038). (3) The linear regression results show that the unstandardized regression coefficient for the response variable is -0.561 with p = 0.0198, which means this relationship is significant, but the negative regression indicates that an increase in the response value tends to be followed by a decrease in preparedness. Abstract

Siberut Island is one of the areas prone to earthquake and tsunami disasters in West Sumatra. This area has a high accumulation of stress, which has the potential to cause large earthquakes and tsunamis. To reduce this risk, disaster mitigation is needed and in this case the Mentawai people have local wisdom which is used as an Early Warning System. The aim of this research is to analyze the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to determine the tsunami inundation hazard index in tsunami disaster mitigation efforts and to analyze the role of Teteu Amusiat Loga local wisdom as an Early Warning System. This research uses a mixed method design with a quantitative and qualitative approach that combines spatial and SWOT analysis. Descriptive analysis using the SWOT method was carried out by looking at internal and external factors in local wisdom-based disaster mitigation which were then identified with the elements of Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats. From this research, it was found that the high tsunami inundation hazard area of 10m was 14143.81 ha, 15m total 19737.38 and 20m 25154.3 ha with a total hazard area of 59035.49 ha. In this case, local wisdom has an important role in disaster mitigation, one of which is through the song Teteu Amusiat Loga which is used as an Early Warning System, but there is a level of knowledge related to this song in various age groups. The research results also explain that mass media and modern communication platforms provide opportunities to develop local wisdom, but this local wisdom is not in accordance with modern standards for disaster mitigation.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the income levels of food vendors selling typical Maninjau Lake dishes in Nagari Maninjau and Bayur, as well as the factors influencing their income. This research is descriptive-quantitative, with a population consisting of all food vendors in the two nagaris, using the Total Sampling method. The data covers vendors' income levels, business capital, sources of capital, business experience, operating hours, and business duration. The results indicate that the highest income is derived from the sale of "Pensi" (fish), while "Nila Salai" (smoked tilapia) generates the lowest income. The most influential factors on income are capital, sources of capital, and business experience. The majority of business capital comes from personal savings, while longer business duration provides advantages such as a broader customer network and a good reputation. This study highlights the importance of local policy support in sustaining the economic viability of food vendors, particularly through entrepreneurship training and culinary tourism promotion.
