Devotion: Jurnal Pengabdian Psikologi is a journal devoted to the development of Psychology as a scientific discipline published by the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Pancasila. To achieve these objectives, Devotion: Jurnal Pengabdian Psikologi presents scientific texts from various branches of psychology: Developmental and Clinical Psychology, Social and Cultural Psychology, Business Psychology & Industrial Psychology and Organization, Educational and School Psychology, Psychometry and Psychological Measurement. Published scientific papers are the results of research that have been achieved in community service, development and application of science and technology from the results of community service activities, concepts or implementation in order to increase community participation in development, empowerment or implementation of community service. To ensure the quality of each scientific text published, the Editorial Board and Peer Reviews reviewed the manuscript. Devotion: Jurnal Pengabdian Psikologi is published twice a year, in May and November.

Abstract

This article discusses the PERKUSI (Pengenalan, Pelatihan, dan Pembinaan Kader Peer Counselor, Ekstrakurikuler Seni Hikayat Aceh, dan Pembekalan Sistem Kepengurusan dalam Organisasi) program or Introduction, Training, and Coaching of Peer Counselor Cadres, Aceh Hikayat Extracurricular, and Organizational Management System Provision, aimed at improving the meaning of life of teenage prisoners at LPKA (Lembaga Pembinaan Khusus Anak / children’s prison) Grade II Banda Aceh. The program involves introducing, training, and coaching peer counselor cadres and Acehnese hikayat extracurricular activities, as well as providing organizational management skills. The program involves 49 teenage prisoners, but only 31 of them filled out pre-test and post-test questionnaires on the meaning of life. The results showed a 93% increase in the meaning of life of teenage prisoners. The program also successfully improved the knowledge and skills of teenage prisoners regarding peer counseling and Acehnese Hhkayat art. The program also successfully formed 10 peer counselor cadres selected based on discussions with partners, knowledges and skills from pre-test and post-test results, observations during activities, and a detention period of more than four months since the peer counselor organization was established. Therefore, the PERKUSI program can be an alternative solution to the problem of meaning of life on teenage prisoners at LPKA Kelas II Banda Aceh.

Abstract

Adolescents are the next generation of the nation who will contribute greatly to the development of Indonesia’s human resources. The adolescent phase is an important stage to start forming a clear self-identity including in terms of future planning. However, adolescents often experience confusion regarding their future orientation, making it difficult to set goals and strategies to achieve the future. Although most of them have aspirations, it is less based on the ability to recognize themselves related to their strengths and weaknesses. According to the literature review, the reflective thinking method applied through reflection of experience is an important learning model. With this method, individuals can better recognize their potential based on the meaning of their past experiences. This training was conducted for two days on 24 - 25 May 2023 at SMA Negeri 11 Pangkaje'ne, with a total of 31 participants who were students of class XI. The results of this training show that the ability to think reflectively in interpreting experiences will help adolescents recognize their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their interests and talents. This can be a reference for them in setting future goals. A clear future direction can lead adolescents to set specific steps and strategies to achieve their goals. This will increase the chances for adolescents to get a decent job and have a career that suits their potential in the future.

Abstract

Many factors contribute to adolescents’ mental health, from changes within themselves to the outside world, which make adolescents vulnerable to mental health problems. In recent years, mental health issues have also begun to become a concern for educational institutions, including X Junior High School. In the last two years, several students have mental problems that interfere with their daily and academic functioning. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out some kind of follow-up action to prevent the development of mental health problems among students. Psychoeducational activities with the aim of increasing knowledge and awareness regarding maintaining mental health are carried out and provided to students and parents of grades VII and VIII face-to-face (offline) in the school. The results of this psychoeducation activity are that both students and parents have begun to demonstrate mental health literacy, although it is not yet comprehensive. Students know practical ways to deal with unpleasant situations, so it would be good if there was more specific training regarding self-management skills. At the end of the session the parents came to the conclusion that what is needed is not only understanding children who are in their teenage years but also considering what forms of interaction and assistance are suitable and acceptable for children. In the future, similar activities are also needed for schools to create a supportive environment for adolescents.

Abstract

Data on sexual violence againts children in NTT Province continues to increase yearly. Most cases of sexual violence against children occur at home and are commited by those closest to the child, often leaving the child feeling powerless to report the abuse. As a result, the sexual violence can persist for a long time. The challenges in uncovering the sexual violence experienced by children make it essential for adults around them to proactively engage in preventing such cases and to equip themselves with the skills to assist children who experience sexual violence. This community service aims to (1) increase knowledge regarding sexual violence for teachers at child development centers on Rote Island and (2) Provide skills in assisting children who are victims of sexual violence to teachers at child development centers on Rote Island. This community service activity was attended by 15 child development center teachers, 3 men and 12 women. The analysis showed an average increase in pre-test and post-test scores of 17.6 points. The mentoring skills of the participants also improved. This service activity produced several outcomes, such as leaflets on the issue of sexual violence, journal articles, online media publications, and videos of community service activities.

Abstract

Based on geographic location, the village of Setia Mekar borders Bekasi City, which means that access to new information is easy to obtain. In fact, based on the result of the assessment carried out, there are still limitations to literacy within the community, especially in literacy that related to mental health. Therefore, the aim of this activity is to increase mental health literacy in the community of Setia Mekar Village. Individuals with good mental health literacy, can carry out early detection of psychological disorders. The method that used to increase mental health literacy is by providing psychoeducation in the village of Setia Mekar. Before the intervention is given, an assessment is first conducted to determine the appropriate psychoeducation method. The results obtained through this psychoeducation activity show that residents become more aware about psychological disorders, the characteristics or symptoms, casual factors, and treatment of psychological disorders themselves.

Abstract

This community service program is carried out for students at Elementary School 01 Sawah Baru who do not yet know about a sustainable environment. This program is carried out with the aim of shaping pro-environmental behavior, including understanding food security and reducing waste. Psychoeducation was carried out from August 2023 to March 2024 using lecture and action learning methods. To determine the level of students' understanding, a pre-test and post-test were carried out. The results of statistical calculations show that there are differences in students' knowledge and understanding after participating in psychoeducation. The psychoeducation carried out is effective, which is shown by changes in the understanding and behavior of students at SDN 01 Sawah Baru.

Abstract

This collaboration and conflict management training activity aimed to enhance the capacity of activists from Gereja X, Yogyakarta in collaboration and conflict management. The methods employed in this training included discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and game simulations. The training participants consisted of 31 church activists who were actively engaged in church ministry duties. A follow-up to the training activity was conducted one month after the event, involving both activists who participated in the training and those who did not. The follow-up result indicated that activists who participated in the training demonstrated a higher average level of collaboration compared to those who did not attend the training. Thus, it can be concluded that this training effectively improved church activists capacity for collaboration and conflict management.

Abstract

School counselors at Dian Harapan Lippo Village are confronted with students who consistently exhibit anxiety in both academic and non-academic domains. Poorly managed emotions not only affect academic performance but also disrupt social relationships with peers, teachers, and parents. Social emotional competence is crucial for adolescents as they navigate daily life stressors. A deficiency in social emotional competence can lead to emotional instability, resulting in increased stress and anxiety among adolescents. To address this, informational and skill-based interventions were provided through a series of mini seminars. The methodology included briefings on social emotional competency skills, reflective learning, and role-playing exercises to facilitate the application of the material. The seminars were targeted at students in grades 9 and 11, who are preparing for graduation exams and selecting their academic majors. Among the participants, 84 students provided feedback, with evaluations ranging from good to very good regarding the seminar's effectiveness.

Abstract

Various efforts have been made to prevent and address sexual harassment in higher education environments, yet it still occurs. One approach is through psychoeducation. Therefore, an information system was designed as a form of psychoeducation that can be accessed anytime and anywhere to prevent and address sexual harassment, called beranibersuara.id. This information system includes several features to help survivors and prevent sexual harassment. These features are the psychoeducational module regarding sexual harassment, a “Call Us” feature that enbles survivors to get help quickly from the task force or police, and a counselor feature for psychological assistance. There is also a health reference feature that provides a list of hospitals, including their addresses and telephone numbers, for survivors to check their health after experiencing sexual harassment. This information system also provides mindfulness psychoeducation and training videos to reduce negative emotions experienced by survivors. Based on the results of the usability test of the berabibersuara.id site (18-20 January, 2024) involving 55 participants, 58,2% stated that features on the site were usable. However, maintenance and development of this site are needed as media for psychoeducation on the prevention and handling of sexual harassment.

Abstract

Young adulthood is a life stage where one develops romantic relationships culminating in marriage and forming one’s own family. However, recent trends suggest that starting and maintaining healthy marriage relationships may be challenging in Indonesia, indicating a low marital readiness amongst young adults. Several factors that impact one’s marital readiness include family life knowledge, coming to terms with family-of-origin issues, emotional intelligence and communication skills. Therefore, training that addresses these factors amongst young adults can help prepare them for a healthy marriage. Komisi Dewasa Muda at GKI Gereja Gejayan, who serves young adults in the Sleman area found this issue in their young adult community. Through this training, the young adults in the Sleman area may be equipped to enter marriage well and to develop, as well as maintain a healthy marriage relationship moving forward. The evaluation of the training also indicates that the materials provided were relevant to adult marriage preparation, had a positive impact, and were delivered using an engaging approach.
