Abstract

Sexual harassment against children continues to increase annually, even reaching a 100% rise compared to previous years. This escalation is driven by rapid technological advancement that is not accompanied by adequate self-awareness, as well as limited sex education due to prevailing social taboos that discourage discussion with children. Consequently, preventive efforts are needed to enhance children’s awareness of their bodies and protect them from sexual harassment through experiential learning approaches. One such method is body mapping, which enables children to recognize and understand their own body parts. This activity aimed to provide education, understanding, awareness, and strategic preventive skills through experiential learning to help elementary school students identify body parts that should not be touched by others and to introduce basic sex education as a form of sexual harassment prevention at SDN 01 Bonto-Bonto, SDN 14 Bonto-Bonto, and SDN 15 Bonto-Bonto. The methods employed were experiential learning combined with lectures using a counseling-based approach. Results showed that 100% of students (71 participants) attended the activity. Students’ knowledge regarding body parts that should not be touched improved from insufficient and sufficient levels to sufficient and good categories. Additionally, 90% (64 students) demonstrated understanding of sexual harassment prevention strategies, and 97% (69 students) reported high enthusiasm during the activity. In conclusion, experiential learning effectively increased students’ knowledge and preventive understanding, indicating its potential for reducing the risk of sexual harassment among children.

Abstract

Understanding students’ learning styles is crucial for teachers to effectively enhance students’ potential and optimize their academic performance. This intervention was designed to assist kindergarten and elementary school teachers in Sukaresmi Village, Sukamakmur District, Bogor Regency in identifying and understanding students’ learning styles. The intervention was implemented through a workshop that provided both theoretical material and interactive discussions including case analyses on learning style identification. The intervention involved sixteen teachers, of whom eight who completed both pre-test and post-test were included in the final anaylisis. The results demonstrated a notable improvement in knowledge as indicated by an increase in mean scores from the pre-test (M = 52.50, SD = 22.20) to the post-test (M = 81.25, SD = 6.94). Statistical analysis using a paired-samples t-test confirmed that the improvement was significant with t(7) = –4.50, p = .003. The intervention addressed cognitive aspects of learning style identification. Nonetheless, this intervention still focuses on the cognitive level by identifying learning styles. Further interventions are recommended to be implemented in the form of longer-term training.

Abstract

During the launching of Detective Conan Comic Volume 106 in Jakarta, a community service activity was held featuring a game to solve a fictional murder case titled Crime Scene Investigation: Whodunnit. The activity aimed to train the problem-solving skills of fans of Detective Conan and provide them with the opportunity to role-play as detectives by solving murder cases like their idol. Case solving and role-playing can serve as an adaptive coping mechanism for Detective Conan comic fans from their daily problems. This training involved presenting a fictional murder case and observing participants’ problem-solving behavior. This activity was attended by 83 participants, who were divided into eight groups. The participants' age range was 10 to 40 years. Participants were asked to discuss within their respective groups to guess and analyze which of the four individuals was the murderer. Based on the participants' answers, 4 out of 8 groups correctly identified the murderer. One group even managed to answer correctly in the fastest time, which was 25 minutes. It can be concluded that the participants were already accustomed to guessing fictional murder cases from the stories they read in Detective Conan comics so that they are able to do problem solving to solve the case in a short time. Furthermore, they enjoyed the case-solving game because they could experience role-playing as detectives, which can serve as one of their adaptive coping mechanisms.

Abstract

The digital age has both positive and negative impacts on adolescents in their daily lives. If adolescents continue to engage excessively with digital media, the risk of developing a digital addiction will increase. Some adolescents have reported risks of smartphone addiction that negatively impact their lives. Therefore, there is a need for psychoeducational interventions regarding smartphone addiction or digital addiction to prevent and reduce the risks associated with this behavior. This psychoeducational program involved 11 adolescents from the Senyum Anak Nusantara (SAN) Community in Kupang City. The psychoeducation was conducted over three days and covered an introduction to digital addiction, its causes, impacts, solutions, and strategies to avoid digital addiction. The methods used in this psychoeducation were lectures and experiential learning. The results of the pre-test and post-test measurements showed significant changes. Future interventions could focus on digital detox and social support for adolescents struggling with smartphone addiction.
