Abstract

This research examines the impact of globalization on local economic development in Indonesia, focusing on challenges and opportunities that emerge in an increasingly integrated global economy. Through a qualitative approach using literature review and secondary data analysis, this study identifies that globalization has resulted in increased competition for local producers, dependence on external markets, and pressure on traditional industries. However, globalization also opens access to broader markets, facilitates technology and knowledge transfer, and creates foreign investment opportunities. The research finds that regions with adaptive policies and strong institutional capacity are better able to capitalize on globalization opportunities while minimizing negative impacts. The findings highlight the importance of integrated development strategies between national policies and local initiatives to optimize the benefits of globalization for local economies.

Abstract

This research examines the dependence on debt financing to cover budget deficits and its implications for fiscal sustainability. Using secondary data analysis from government financial reports during the 2010-2023 period, this study finds that the increasing debt-to-GDP ratio has exceeded the limits established within the fiscal sustainability framework. The results indicate that dependency on debt has created pressure on interest payments that absorb a significant portion of the annual budget and reduce fiscal space for priority sector financing. This research concludes that fiscal policy reforms emphasizing enhanced domestic revenue, spending efficiency, and strategic debt management are necessary to ensure long-term fiscal sustainability.

Abstract

This research examines the relationship between digitalization of financial services and increasing financial inclusion in rural areas of Indonesia. Through a qualitative approach with interviews and observations in three villages in Central Java, the research identifies that limited internet access, low digital literacy, and infrastructure constraints are the main challenges in implementing digital financial services. However, it was found that branchless banking programs, simple digital wallets, and continuous assistance have successfully increased rural communities' access to formal financial services. Strengthening banking agent networks, structured digital literacy training, and supportive policies are needed to ensure sustainable financial inclusion. The results show that digitalization of financial services has the potential to reduce the financial access gap between urban and rural communities when implemented with consideration of local socio-economic conditions.

Abstract

This study examines the digital readiness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the culinary sector in Tuntang District, Semarang Regency in facing the Industry 4.0 era. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach, involving 75 culinary MSME owners through questionnaires and structured interviews. The results show that the majority of culinary MSMEs in Tuntang District are at the "transition" level of digital readiness (62%), while 23% are still at the "basic" stage and only 15% have reached the "advanced" level. Factors influencing digital readiness include the digital literacy of business owners, availability of technological infrastructure, financial support, and demographic characteristics of business actors. The main challenges faced by MSME owners include limited knowledge of digital technology, minimal access to training, limited capital for technology investment, and the age of business actors who are predominantly over 40 years old. This research recommends the need for sustainable technical assistance programs, provision of special funding access for technology adoption, and development of a digital ecosystem that supports the transformation of local culinary MSMEs.

Abstract

This study looks at how investment, the travel and tourism sector, and visitor numbers affect Indonesia's tourism business. Panel data comprising 41 districts/cities in the provinces of West Java, Yogyakarta, and Bali from 2014 to 2023 is analyzed using the Pooled Least Squares approach. The fixed effect model used to ascertain the impact of investment, the tourism industry, and tourist visits on Indonesia's tourism sector is displayed via linear regression analysis of panel data. The study's findings show that traditional hotels currently get the majority of investments in the tourism sector, while sustainable tourism wants environmentally friendly hotels and expects environmentally friendly tourism practices and regenerative concepts. The tourism sector in Indonesia needs to improve the quality of infrastructure, information technology, and non-leisure resources. Utilizing the wealth of natural resources, setting new standards for tourism excellence, contributing to economic growth, as well as preserving Indonesia's natural and cultural heritage are strategies that can be carried out to attract a lot of investment aimed at addressing the gap in tourism infrastructure.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to ascertain how local revenue, investment, and non-oil and gas exports affected economic growth. This study examines economic growth from 2014 to 2023 using data from 34 Indonesian provinces. The selection of the fixed effect model shows that economic growth is highly influenced by investment, local revenue, and non-oil and gas exports. Indonesia's economic recovery is highly dependent on investment in sectors that absorb a lot of labor, ease of business licensing, and security stability so that it can increase local revenue from regional taxes and regional levies. The government must encourage ease of doing business in the regions, reduce levies on mandatory services, regional taxation options between Provinces and Regencies/Cities, and new tax bases.
