Abstract

Hypertension is an increase in systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure of more than 90 mmHg. Hypertension is not only at high risk of suffering from heart disease, but also suffering from other diseases such as nerve, kidney, and blood vessel diseases and the higher the blood pressure the greater the risk, Signs and symptoms of hypertension that are often felt are dizziness, sleep disturbances, blurred vision, and headaches. One of the non-pharmacological treatments that can be done for hypertension sufferers is progressive muscle relaxation. The purpose of this paper is to discuss progressive muscle relaxation therapy for lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The writing method uses a descriptive design with a nursing process approach. The results of the writing show that there is a decrease in blood pressure after progressive muscle relaxation therapy is carried out for 5 days, the results obtained before 150/80 mmHg and after 120/80 mmHg.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disorder that arises when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot use the insulin it produces properly, diabetic ulcers also referred to as diabetic foot ulcers, are medical conditions characterized by chronic, non-healing, sunken ulcers with edema with clear boundaries. Wounds in diabetic patients occur due to partial or complete damage to the skin that extends to the tissue under the skin, tendons, muscles, bones, or joints that occur in a person suffering from diabetes mellitus. Wound care that is currently developing is modern wound care which has a better rate of development of diabetic wound repair compared to using conventional wound care. The use of dressings must be considered to maintain wound moisture balance, one of the dressings that can be used is zinc cream as a primary dressing. Purpose: To prevent infection and help accelerate granulation growth in diabetic foot wound patients using zinc cream. Methods: By means of data collection and observation using case studies and subjects in diabetic foot wound patients with nursing problems of skin / tissue integrity disorders. Results: After taking wound care measures using zinc cream primary dressing for 12 times in 6 weeks there is a BWAT value in the dorsum pedis area from 37 to 22 and in the planta pedis area from 39 to 24. Conclusion: Treatment using zinc cream as a primary dressing proved effective in accelerating the healing process of diabetic foot wounds.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder characterized by disturbances in thought, perception, emotions, and behavior, with auditory hallucinations being the most common symptom. This study aims to describe the nursing care process for patients with paranoid schizophrenia experiencing sensory perception disturbances, specifically auditory hallucinations. The research applied a descriptive case study design conducted in Dewaruci Ward, RSJD dr. Amino Gondohutomo, Central Java Province, from October to December 2024. Data were collected through interviews, direct observation, and medical record review, then analyzed using thematic analysis based on Miles and Huberman’s framework. The findings revealed that the patient was able to gradually reduce the intensity of auditory hallucinations and showed improvement in social interactions after nursing interventions, including identification of hallucinations, distraction techniques, therapeutic communication, and collaboration in pharmacological treatment. Family involvement also played an essential role in supporting the patient’s recovery process. This study implies that comprehensive nursing care based on bio-psycho-socio-spiritual approaches and family participation is effective in managing hallucinations and enhancing patient outcomes.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a tropical country, has a high potential for the spread of infectious diseases, including conjunctivitis, or inflammation of the eye membranes. Densely populated residential environments such as Islamic boarding schools and boarding schools are vulnerable to the transmission of this disease due to intense interaction and suboptimal hygiene. Based on various studies, the prevalence of conjunctivitis is quite high among adolescents, especially in boarding-based educational environments. This condition not only disrupts comfort but also impacts the learning and worship processes of students. As a form of promotive and preventive efforts, a health education program themed "Healthy Eyes, Enthusiastic Learning: Recognize and Treat Eye Pain" was conducted at SMK IT Subulussalam Samarinda. This activity aimed to increase students' knowledge about the causes, transmission, and prevention of conjunctivitis, with the hope of encouraging behavioral changes towards a clean and healthy lifestyle. The education was conducted through interactive lectures, discussions, and question-and-answer methods. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the importance of maintaining eye and environmental health. It is hoped that this activity can be a real contribution to the pharmacist profession in supporting the creation of a healthy and productive learning environment among adolescents.

Abstract

Mycobacterium tuberculosis is characterized by a thick, mycolic acid–rich cell wall that confers hydrophobicity, chemical resistance, and environmental stability, making cell wall biosynthesis inhibitors a major therapeutic target. Tuberculosis is not only a medical condition but also a social disease linked to high population density, malnutrition, and limited healthcare access. In 2023, Kedaton District was identified as the most densely populated area in Bandar Lampung, increasing the likelihood of pulmonary TB smear-positive (TB.Paru BTA+) transmission. Aerosol spread is highly distance-dependent: direct exposure within 0–1 meter poses very high risk, and WHO reports indicate that exposure <1 meter for ≥15 minutes in enclosed spaces significantly elevates infection risk, extending up to 5–10 meters without ventilation. This study employed spatial analysis to measure inter-household distances among 75 TB.Paru BTA(+) patients using Euclidean distance and smartphone-based field surveys. The method proved suitable for small-scale studies with high data accuracy, though resource-intensive for larger populations. Findings revealed some households only 3 meters apart, but this observation was not yet statistically significant to confirm transmission dynamics.
