Abstract

The development of Islamic e-commerce has had a significant impact on the transaction patterns of modern society, especially in Indonesia and Singapore. However, this progress also raises major challenges in terms of personal data protection, which becomes a crucial issue in maintaining consumer trust and maintaining compliance with sharia principles. This study aims to analyze and compare the regulation and implementation of personal data protection in sharia e-commerce in both countries. A qualitative approach is used through literature study and analysis of legal documents, such as the Personal Data Protection Act (PDP) in Indonesia and the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) in Singapore. The results show that Singapore has a more mature legal framework with strong enforcement mechanisms, while Indonesia still faces challenges in implementation and public education. However, both countries strive to harmonize regulations with sharia principles, such as maintaining trustworthiness and fairness. This study provides recommendations for the development of more effective and sharia-compliant personal data protection policies, so as to increase consumer confidence in the sharia e-commerce sector.

Abstract

Productive zakat is an innovative approach to zakat management that focuses on the economic empowerment of mustahik (zakat recipients) to increase income in a sustainable manner. This research aims to explore the role of productive zakat in the context of economic development in Indonesia, by referring to data from the National Zakat Amil Agency (BAZNAS) and various literature sources. The method used in this research is a literature review study, which involves collecting and analyzing various relevant literature sources. The findings show that productive zakat not only increases mustahik income, but also creates jobs, improves skills, and encourages social solidarity in society. By providing access to capital and training, productive zakat helps mustahik transform into muzakki (zakat givers), creating a positive cycle of sustainability. However, to maximize the potential of productive zakat, government policies are needed that support transparency, increase public awareness, collaboration with the private sector, and effective monitoring and evaluation. This research is expected to provide deeper insight into strategies for optimizing the productive role of zakat in national economic development.

Abstract

The management of zakat in Indonesia plays a significant role in promoting economic equity and the development of the Muslim community, yet its patterns and dynamics of challenges continue to evolve in line with changes in regulations, digital technology, and literacy levels within society. This study aims to analyze the patterns and dynamics of zakat management challenges in Indonesia from various perspectives, to identify critical constraints related to regulations, technology, literacy, and public trust, and to provide strategic recommendations for policymakers and zakat institutions. The research employs a literature review method with a descriptive analytical approach, utilizing various sources and documents related to the development of zakat management in Indonesia. The results reveal that the constraints in zakat management are closely linked to the suboptimal synchronization of regulations and governance, the inadequacy of digital infrastructure and data integration, the low level of zakat literacy, and the underdevelopment of a comprehensive public trust. The implications of these findings can serve as a foundation for policymakers and zakat institutions to formulate adaptive and holistic strategies that enable zakat to function more effectively and sustainably as an instrument for economic equity and the development of the Muslim community.

Abstract

This study explores the theme of zakat in the hadith of allegiance (bai‘ah) narrated by Jarir bin Abdullah r.a., aiming to understand its historical context, theological and social meanings, as well as the relevance of its teachings in contemporary Muslim society. Employing a qualitative approach through library research, this study applies thematic analysis of the hadith, focusing on asbāb al-wurūd (circumstantial context), linguistic interpretation, and socio-religious meanings. The findings reveal that zakat in Jarir’s pledge was not merely an individual obligation but also a form of social commitment that reflects the integration of devotional acts and social responsibility in Islam. In today’s context, this hadith offers a conceptual foundation for strengthening the role of zakat in addressing poverty, social inequality, and distributive justice crises. Therefore, zakat should be viewed not only as a religious ritual but also as a transformative instrument for building a just, prosperous, and inclusive society. This study emphasizes the importance of revitalizing the spirit of this hadith in modern zakat practices based on sharia principles and professional management.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of stock trading from conceptual, operational, and normative perspectives based on Indonesian positive law and Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh). The research employs a qualitative-descriptive approach using library research methods by examining legal literature, DSN-MUI fatwas, and scholarly references related to stocks and capital markets. The analysis was conducted through document review and content analysis of applicable regulations and Islamic legal opinions. The findings indicate that, under Indonesian law, stocks are legal instruments protected by legislation and play a vital role in the capital market system. From an Islamic perspective, stock trading is permissible as long as it avoids elements of riba (usury), gharar (uncertainty), and maysir (gambling), and adheres to sharia principles. DSN-MUI fatwas serve as key references in determining the permissibility of sharia-compliant stocks and transaction mechanisms. Thus, stock trading can be conducted lawfully and ethically in accordance with national legal frameworks and Islamic principles.

Abstract

The halal food industry constitutes one of the strategic sectors with a significant contribution to both the global and national economy. Indonesia’s vast potential, as the country with the world’s largest Muslim population, necessitates well-directed and sustainable strengthening strategies to position the nation as a global hub for the halal industry. This study aims to analyze an integrated strategy for strengthening Indonesia’s halal food industry. The research employs a literature review method, drawing on academic publications, industry reports, and policy documents. The findings reveal four interrelated strategic pillars to enhance the halal food industry in Indonesia: (1) improving productivity and competitiveness, (2) implementing and reinforcing policies and regulations, (3) strengthening finance and infrastructure, and (4) enhancing halal branding and public awareness. Productivity improvements encompass reinforcing the halal value chain, developing competent human resources, empowering business actors including MSMEs and Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), and promoting research and innovation. Policy and regulatory strengthening focus on harmonizing halal standards with international benchmarks and fostering a conducive business climate. Financial and infrastructural support provides a solid foundation for sustainable growth, while strengthening halal branding and awareness shapes market preferences and expands global reach. Consistent implementation of these strategies has the potential to significantly increase the sector’s contribution to GDP, create employment opportunities, and boost exports of halal products.

Abstract

In studying economics at a micro level, the discussion is based on individual behavior as economic actors whose role is to determine price levels in the market mechanism process. The market mechanism itself is an interaction that occurs between demand from the consumer side and supply from the producer side. This research tries to study, understand and understand the meaning, factors and laws of supply and demand in Islamic and conventional economics. Apart from that, this research also examines the conceptual differences between Islamic and conventional economics regarding the theory of demand and supply. This research uses qualitative research with a collection method called library research which collects various references that are relevant to the topic of discussion being studied. From the results of this research it can be concluded that demand and supply are two concepts that underlie a very broad range of economic activities. Demand and supply are also the two words most frequently used by economists, both of which are the forces that make a market economy work. Furthermore, the Islamic Economics concept of demand and supply has some similarities with conventional economics, but there are limitations for individuals to behave in accordance with sharia rules. Lastly, Islamic Economics also includes zakat activities which influence supply in economic activities. Islamic economics also provides a solution to balance in price formation.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive description of the market mechanism concept in Ibn Taimiyah’s Islamic economic thought, examine the role of the state and the hisbah institution in maintaining market justice, and explore the relevance of his ideas to contemporary economic issues and their implications for the development of modern Islamic economics. This research employs a qualitative approach using the library research method, analyzing relevant primary and secondary sources. The findings reveal that Ibn Taimiyah had a profound understanding of market mechanisms, in which prices are naturally determined through the interaction of supply and demand without excessive intervention. The state, through the hisbah institution, plays a crucial role in preserving market stability and justice by enforcing business ethics and preventing harmful practices. Government intervention is justified only when market distortions lead to injustice. Ibn Taimiyah’s economic thought remains highly relevant to contemporary issues such as monopoly, inflation, wealth inequality, and the crisis of business ethics. Thus, his ideas offer a conceptual foundation for building an Islamic economic system that is just, ethical, and sustainable.
