TIJARAH: Jurnal Ekonomi, Manajemen, dan Bisnis Syariah is a scholarly journal published by Litera Academica Publishing, under the Yayasan Amal Ibnu Shabil (Based on Akte Pendirian Yayasan No. 08, January 22, 2022), focusing on the study of economics, management, and business from an Islamic perspective. The journal aims to serve as a forum for academics, researchers, and practitioners to publish research findings, theoretical studies, and critical analyses on current issues in Islamic economics, Islamic management, and business based on Islamic values. TIJARAH: Jurnal Ekonomi, Manajemen, dan Bisnis Syariah is published four times a year, in March, June, September, and December. The journal accepts articles in both Indonesian and English, covering a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, the development of Islamic economics, Islamic financial management, Islamic business strategies, corporate governance according to Sharia principles, and innovation in Islamic business. A rigorous peer review process is applied to ensure the quality and originality of each published article. With a commitment to advancing knowledge in the fields of Islamic economics, management, and business, TIJARAH: Jurnal Ekonomi, Manajemen, dan Bisnis Syariah is expected to make a significant contribution to the progress of Islamic studies both in Indonesia and globally. Authors who want to submit their manuscript to the editorial office of TIJARAH: Jurnal Ekonomi, Manajemen, dan Bisnis Syariah should obey the writing guidelines. Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of zakat, infaq, and shadaqa in achieving economic independence as a form of wealth transfer through the empowerment of mustahik. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The findings show that zakat, infak, and sedekah are wealth distribution instruments in Islam that aim to achieve economic and social balance. These three instruments not only function to reduce economic disparities but also serve as a means to distribute wealth to those in need. Zakat, infaq, and shadaqa help mustahik meet their basic needs while also promoting the creation of economic independence, which is crucial for achieving well-being (falah) according to Islamic perspectives. Economic independence, as referred to in this context, includes the fulfillment of worldly needs and spiritual well-being to attain happiness in the hereafter. This study also emphasizes the importance of economic empowerment of mustahik in breaking the cycle of persistent poverty. By providing skills and capital, mustahik can become self-reliant and improve their quality of life, avoiding dependence that undermines dignity. This approach aligns with Islamic teachings that emphasize the importance of independence and personal dignity, as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Abstract

This study aims to identify the challenges and opportunities in efforts to enhance waqf literacy among Generation Z, as well as to formulate effective and relevant strategies for improving waqf literacy within this demographic. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The findings reveal that although waqf literacy among Generation Z is still low, there are significant opportunities through the potential of Generation Z as drivers of waqf, their interest in social issues, openness to innovation and new technologies, support from educational institutions and communities, and their ability to collaborate and network. However, there are substantial challenges, including the low level of understanding of waqf among Generation Z, information gaps on digital platforms, the perception that waqf is only for the wealthy, a lack of application models that align with Generation Z’s lifestyle, and limited access and participation in waqf programs. Therefore, the strategies formulated must address these challenges while leveraging existing opportunities through educational campaigns on digital and social media, changing perceptions about waqf, using digital platforms to facilitate waqf participation, and collaborating with influencers and public figures. The implications of this research suggest that the right approach in conveying information and education about waqf can increase Generation Z’s participation in waqf activities, ultimately supporting the sustainability of waqf as a social financial instrument in the future.

Abstract

The research in this thesis aims to know and understand the Practice of Selling and Buying Diplomas in the Perspective of Islamic Law. The problems to be examined are how Islamic law views the practice of buying and selling diplomas, analysis of buying and selling diplomas according to Islamic business, analysis of the consequences of buying and selling diplomas. In this research, library research is library research which aims to determine the legal status of the practice of buying and selling diplomas, and then analyzing the practice of buying and selling diplomas through a normative approach and elaborated with buying and selling theory, Islamic business ethics and the rules of the Koran, hadith, or the opinion of scholars. . From the overall discussion of research results in accordance with the formulation of the problem and objectives in this study, it shows that the practice of buying and selling diplomas is a crime and a criminal act as a crime of forgery of letters. A diploma is equated with a letter (geschrift) because a diploma creates recognition or rights to an academic degree, or is an acknowledgment of one's achievements listed on the diploma sheet. And it can be concluded that the practice of buying and selling diplomas is an illegal buying and selling practice because the pillars and buying and selling are not fully fulfilled and are buying and selling that are prohibited by Islamic law and not in accordance with Islamic business ethics. In addition, the practice of buying and selling diplomas is also an act that violates the law, namely Article 263 of the Criminal Code and Law no. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of zakat in the modern economy with a focus on micro and macroeconomic aspects. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method. The results of this study indicate that zakat plays an important role in the modern economy, both from micro and macro aspects. From a microeconomic perspective, zakat functions as an income redistribution mechanism that increases aggregate consumption, especially through the transfer of wealth from the rich (muzaki) to the poor (mustahik). From a macroeconomic perspective, zakat has the potential to increase national savings and encourage investment in the real sector. Because zakat is imposed not only on income but also on idle wealth, it provides incentives for muzaki to invest their wealth productively, which can increase aggregate production in the economy. Overall, effective implementation of zakat can be a powerful instrument to address socio-economic disparities, improve the quality of consumption, and encourage more inclusive and sustainable economic growth. In the context of Islamic economics, zakat is not only a religious obligation but also an important tool for achieving social justice and the welfare of society as a whole.

Abstract

Understanding entrepreneurship's role in the economy requires breaking down the concept itself. Entrepreneurship is crucial for growth and development, serving as a powerful tool for capacity building at both global and individual levels, ultimately driving economic progress. Sustainable financial mechanisms are essential for supporting initiatives that address socio-economic challenges faced by disadvantaged communities. One such financial mechanism in Islam is cash waqf, which is integral to the Islamic financial system. This paper analyzes how waqf funds can sustain entrepreneurship. Using qualitative methods, the study will explore the underlying reasons and mechanisms, aiming to provide innovative financial instruments through the waqf sector. The findings may offer valuable insights for government and private institutions, such as JAKIM and MAIS, to enhance economic development planning linked to entrepreneurship.

Abstract

This study aims to find out and understand the rules of sharia in pawning according to the four major schools of thought, namely Hanafiyah, Malikiyah, Syafiiyyah and Hanabilah, which are then compared between the evidence of each school of thought and the just munaqasyah regarding the hadith of Abu Hurairah, as well as the law on the use of pawning livestock both in terms of riding it and also drinking its milk. This study uses a descriptive analytical research type (non-statistical), which focuses on the study of manuscripts and texts, and uses a normative, historical legal approach method. The results of the study were as follows; First, Pawning is a process of borrowing and lending interaction by making certain goods as collateral for the creditor's debt which is held and controlled by the debtor, until the debt is paid off on time. The pillars of pawning include Rahin, Murtahin, Marhun/rahn, Marhun bih. Meanwhile, there are four conditions for pawning, namely the goods must be able to be traded, must be valuable property, Marhun must be able to be utilized according to sharia, its physical condition must be known, must be owned by the rahin (borrower or pawnbroker). Second, in the utilization of pawned property, if it is done by the rahin, the majority of scholars allow the rahin to utilize the pawned goods as long as they get permission from the murtahin. In addition, the rahin must guarantee that the goods are safe and intact. As for if the utilization of pawned property is done by the murtahin, the majority of scholars do not allow the murtahin to utilize the pawned goods absolutely, because the goods are not fully his property. The murtahin's right to the goods is only as collateral for the debt he gave, and if the person who owes is unable to pay off his debt, then he may sell or value the goods to pay off his debt.

Abstract

Zakat will provide benefits for both the giver and the recipient because it can be an added value that increases the reputation which will certainly affect the growth of company performance or company profitability. The method used in this research is literature study to analyse the effect of corporate zakat implementation on financial performance of Islamic companies in Indonesia. Literature study was chosen because of the collection and analysis of relevant data from various existing scientific sources, so as to provide a deeper understanding of the topic under study. The results showed that the application of corporate zakat in Indonesia, especially in the field of Islamic companies is important to understand how zakat can affect the financial performance of Islamic companies in Indonesia. The first study on the application of zakat in Islamic companies in Indonesia shows that zakat has no effect on corporate reputation, while CSR is proven to improve reputation which indicates that although zakat has the potential to improve financial performance, Islamic banks in Indonesia have not been optimal in distributing zakat. Meanwhile, in the second study conducted at PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk for the period 2012-2020, where the results showed that zakat did not have a significant effect directly on financial performance, but the existence of zakat in the social and economic context remains important. Therefore, Islamic companies in Indonesia, especially banks, need to further explore the potential of zakat and optimise it within the framework of CSR. Awareness of the importance of zakat and CSR can be a key factor in encouraging sustainable economic growth and improving people's welfare in Indonesia.

Abstract

Citizenship is a legal status connecting individuals to a country, encompassing rights, obligations, identity, and protection. This study evaluates the impact of citizenship status on economic access and socio-economic inequality in Indonesia, focusing on disparities in well-being and economic opportunities. The research employs a normative legal method with approaches including legislation, case studies, conceptual, historical, and comparative analyses. The results show that citizenship inequality creates significant gaps in income, quality of life, and access to services. Individuals with full citizenship have better access to jobs and education compared to those with limited citizenship or no citizenship. This study recommends more inclusive policy reforms to reduce inequality and improve access for individuals with limited citizenship. The findings aim to assist academics and policymakers in designing strategies to enhance community well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the Application of Business Ethics in MSME Activities Based on Islamic Economic Perspectives. The business world functions as a social activity that must apply the ethics that apply in society. Where business actors need to strive to keep away from abuse only for personal gain without caring about others, even harming the nation. The application of Islamic business ethics must also be implemented in every aspect of the economy including in the implementation of production, consumption and distribution. The method used in the research is literature study by analysing several journal sources relevant to the research topic. The results show that the implementation of Islamic business ethics in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is an important aspect that not only affects the sustainability of the business, but also the character building and integrity of business actors. Aspects of Islamic business ethics relevant to MSMEs are honesty, social responsibility, transparency. The influence of Islamic business ethics on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is very significant, especially in building reputation, customer trust, and business sustainability. One of the main effects of Islamic business ethics is the increase of trust from customers.

Abstract

Zakat, as one of the pillars of Islam, plays an important role in improving the welfare of the community, particularly in creating economic independence for mustahik (zakat recipients). Although zakat is generally used to meet the basic needs of mustahik, this consumptive approach is considered insufficient for sustainably empowering mustahik. Therefore, this study aims to identify and analyze zakat management programs that can support economic empowerment of the community, with a focus on creating independence for mustahik. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. The results show that effective zakat management programs include the establishment of microenterprises, skills training, provision of business capital, mentoring in small business management, and educational assistance. The recommendations from this study emphasize the importance of applying transparency and accountability principles in zakat management to ensure that zakat is distributed to the right recipients and provides maximum benefits for mustahik, while also encouraging the transformation of mustahik into muzakki (zakat payers).
