Indonesian Journal of Islamization Studies (INJAS) (E-ISSN: 3026-5398 | P-ISSN: 3026-5401) is a peer-reviewed and bi-annual (August and February) Indonesian journal (but accept English and Arabic article) dedicated to specific scholarly study about Islamization of (both classical and contemporary) knowledge and its society. Its will dealing with the area of philosophy, social science, art & humanities, exact science, history and philosophy of science, as well as ethical, ontological, and epistemological questions related to a qualitative study; but the scope limited to: Theory on Islamization of Knowledge (with reference to several figures and terms: Islamization, Integration, Unity of Knowledge, etc practiced in universities) De-Westernization (a critical assement about western worldview in science) Islamic and Science in its History (i.e. Old Arabic and Rare Manuscript related to Islamic Science and Civilization) Reconceptualizing Islamic Concept and Theories in Sciences, Arts, and Humanities (Islamic Biology, Islamic Physics, Islamic fine art, Islamic History, Islamic Philosophy of Science, Islamic Education, Halal Studies, Islamic Sociology, etc with reference to several figures) and multidisciplinary perspective that can be published in this journal are about engineering, planning, design, urban, social humanities from the perspective of Islamic values.

Abstract

Mobility, which is often referred to as Migration, is not something foreign to our ears, however, this incident is increasingly being discussed and carried out by people with various purposes, for example, there are those who seek Allah's sustenance on another earth, there are those who find a soul mate from a distant person who is forced to stay. and many more. Previously, migration was still carried out manually, such as riding on camels, horses, and some walked hundreds of hundreds of kilometers just to make the journey. However, as time progresses, humans are also given physical perfection as well as mental perfection, which in turn humans are inspired by Allah SWT, in this case the author discusses science. These knowledges are utilized and developed to make the journey easier, this is the basis for the author to raise the theme of Human Migration. This explanation has also been written in the interpretation of a figure named Ibn Asyur regarding this matter in Qs. Al-Isra' verse 70 and Qs. Yasin Verse 40 about human mobility from time to time. Thus, human travel can be made easier with the latest discoveries in the form of motorbikes, cars used for land and ships for crossing the sea. The author in this research presents new and interesting analysis and findings to look at regarding these two verses which have not previously been interpreted in previous interpretations

Abstract

This article explores the contributions of Ibn Khaldun, a prominent Islamic scholar and the author of "al-Muqaddimah," widely regarded as the founder of sociology in Islam. The study employs a normative research method with an analytical and historical approach to examine his thoughts on statecraft, which are both conceptually rich and empirically grounded. Key findings include the Islamic concept of the state as a collective governed by a political system, Ibn Khaldun's role as a reformer integrating social issues into state formation, and his significant influence, especially in Arab countries and parts of Asia, on the development of sociopolitical thought

Abstract

This article aimed to elaborate on ‘Hermeneutics’ as a Discourse in Postmodern Worldview; emerged in the Christian theological system, advanced then reached its peak in the Postmodern era. Hermeneutics later did not merely develop itself within Christianity but implied several consequences to Islamic Studies. In order to come deep into the discussion, this research used the ‘Content Analysis’ method in the form of ‘Qualitative Research’, revealing the nature of Hermeneutics as the discourse of Worldview, altogether with its impact on Islamic Studies. This article concluded that Hermeneutic is classified as a discourse based on the Western-Postmodern Worldview with some historical background and theoretical framework and implications towards Islamic Studies, especially in regards to the Qur’an.

Abstract

Humanism is a contemporary thought that is being imported by liberal thinkers into the Islamic world. This Western-originated notion is not without its problems; in fact, it comes with many problems. The main problem lies in how they conceptualise the relationship between God, humans and nature. They tend to see humans as the centre and measure of everything. The consequence of this is the alienation of God from the universe, the need for religion and the mainstreaming of humans over everything. If examined more deeply, the problem of humanism enters the area of worldview, namely how we see reality and truth. Therefore, with a critical analysis and supported by literature study, the researcher seeks to dissect the problem of humanism and compare it with how Islam conceptualises the problem.

Abstract

Taliban has re-emerged in the same position of power after 20 years with the withdrawal of US troops by whom the government of Afghanistan was ousted. This study examines how two prominent and highly circulated newspapers in Bangladesh, the Daily Star (DS) and Prothom Alo (PA), respectively English and Bangla dailies, have represented the issue of Taliban’s coming back to power and the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and how they legitimate the Western intrinsic ideology of sense of superiority— for example, accepting authority of the US and invading powers; and vested agenda of the newspapers. It also argues that both newspapers accepted Orientalist perception of Western superiority— for example, encouraging invading parties to stay in Afghanistan and reject the freedom of Afghanistan people, which eventually promote the orientalist ideology at its core agenda— e.g., forming an enemy image of the non-West and perceive Islam and Muslims as a threat. Examining the news and editorials, this study argues that Bangladeshi newspapers have dehumanized and sidelined the people of the occupied land and favored the invaders instead. Therefore, these newspapers were involved in the exclusion process of Afghan people, which once again would mean that Bangladeshi newspapers constructed the image of Other inside us.

Abstract

This study examines the market potential and challenges of Shariah-compliant housing, a niche in real estate adhering to Islamic principles against interest, gambling, and excessive uncertainty. Given the rising global Muslim population and demand for Islamic products, this research is timely. Focusing on Malaysia, the study employs a mixed-method approach, utilizing quantitative surveys of 150 Muslim respondents and qualitative interviews with industry experts. Findings indicate a strong preference for Shariah-compliant housing, with 78% willing to pay a premium, yet barriers like limited awareness and inadequate financing persist. The study emphasizes the need for education and improved regulations to foster market growth.

Abstract

Abstract (English) This research deals with words borrowed from Arabic language in the language of the Aneuk Jamee tribe in Aceh province. Research uses the analytical descriptive approach to analyse this phenomenon. The main goal of the search is to identify words absorbed from Arabic and understand their impact on Aneuk Jamee's language. The aliases are analyzed based on a series of Arabic letters. The aliases are found in 20 different letters of the alphabet. The results of the study show that there are several words in Aneuk Jamee language that are heavily influenced in Arabic and cover different areas of daily life such as religion, education and literature, showing the influence of Arabic language in various aspects of cultural and social life. The results of the research show that there are a number of words in Aneuk Jami's language that are highly influenced by Arabic. These results provide a clearer picture of the process of borrowing words between these two languages, as well as their implications for linguistic identity. from the Aneuk Jamee tribe in Aceh. Keywords: borrowed words, Arabic language, Aneuk Jamee language الملخص يتناول هذا البحث الكلمات المقترضة من اللغة العربية في لغة قبيلة أنوك جامي في مقاطعة أتشيه. ويستخدم البحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لتحليل هذه الظاهرة. الهدف الرئيسي من البحث هو التعرف على الكلمات الممتصة من اللغة العربية وفهم تأثيرها على لغة أنيوك جامي. يتم تحليل الكلمات المستعارة بناءً على سلسلة من الحروف العربية، وتوجد الكلمات المستعارة في 20 حرفًا مختلفًا من الحروف أو الأصوات، وتظهر نتائج الدراسة أن هناك عدة كلمات في لغة أنوك جامي متأثرة بشدة باللغة العربية وتغطي مجالات مختلفة الحياة اليومية كالدين والتعليم والأدب، مما يظهر تأثير اللغة العربية في مختلف جوانب الحياة الثقافية والاجتماعية.  وتظهر نتائج البحث أن هناك عددا من الكلمات في لغة أنوك جامي متأثرة بشكل كبير باللغة العربية. وتقدم هذه النتائج صورة أوضح لعملية استعارة الكلمات بين هاتين اللغتين، فضلا عن انعكاساتها على الهوية اللغوية. من قبيلة أنوك جامي في أتشيه.

Abstract

This research explores the equitable, balanced, and environmentally sound application of Islamic provisions to real estate to create healthier societies. It stands on the basics of Islamic teachings on moderation, fairness, and the general leadership of the community, which are in harmony with the philosophy of modern sustainable action. This research used both quantitative and qualitative research methods, where information from the developers and planners was obtained through interviews while quantitative information from the inhabitants of sustainable communities was obtained through a survey. The research shows that whereas best practices regarding environmental endowment have been implemented properly in real estate-related projects, other Islamic values, for instance equity and social justice, as well as integration of the community, have not been so well implemented appropriately. They also noted a significant and positive relationship between the perceived degree of satisfaction with community spaces and the perceived degree of Islamic values integration. This led to the identification of challenges such as the insufficient practical experience of developers in implementing Islamic finance instruments that comprise sukuk and waqf, among others. These studies indicate the need to focus on raising awareness and capacity to enable developers to adhere to Islamic guidelines more effectively. The research has implications that policymakers and developers need to take into consideration in the designing of future real estate developments with the aim of achieving fairness in economics and enhancing the welfare of communities. It is recommended that subsequent studies examine these gaps and analyse the potential social repercussions of the Islamic-based real estate projects.

Abstract

The inconsistency of some educational systems in the contemporary world with the educational approaches in Islamic societies has not only led to their inefficacy but also imposed non-divine and even anti-religious values upon Islamic communities. Given the necessity of presenting educational theories aligned with Islamic societies, this article aims to demonstrate the approach Islamic teachings can take towards the foundations of education. These teachings are principally derived from the Quran and the sayings and lifestyles of the Prophet Muhammad and his Household (peace be upon them). Among them, Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), the sixth Imam of the Shia, played a prominent role in presenting such intellectual systems based on Quranic insights and the Prophet's conduct. From the collection of Imam Sadiq's practices and sayings, it is possible to extract some features as his intellectual views on education. In this paper, we focus on the educational foundations as derived from his sayings in four domains. We then highlight fourteen value attributes in his educational approach, which can serve as the foundation for structuring the principles of Islamic education and its practical solutions.

Abstract

This study examines the historical use of Kına Kına in Ottoman medical practice, focusing on its efficacy, preparation, and associated risks. Drawing on classical medical texts and empirical observations, it explores traditional methods of enhancing Kına Kına’s potency—boiling with mâul-kurah and sweeteners, and later adding çintiyânâ to counter diminishing effects. Although widely used to treat fevers, concerns about side effects such as dizziness and anxiety led to ongoing debates among physicians. A notable 1708 case in Bursa illustrates the dangers of improper dosage. The study underscores the empirical orientation of Ottoman medicine, its commitment to humoral balance, and the cautious but enduring reliance on traditional remedies.
