Abstract

Research on homicide causation often assumes a short interval between injury and death, leaving delayed mortality insufficiently explained when complications, medical intervention, or pre-existing vulnerability alter the final mechanism of death. This study examines how the temporal boundary of homicide should be determined when death occurs long after the initial attack. It employs a literature-based study combining doctrinal legal analysis with limited functional comparison of legislation, judicial decisions, medical guidance, and scholarly literature from England and Wales, the United States, and Indonesia. The findings show that elapsed time does not sever causation by itself, although a longer interval increases evidentiary uncertainty and the possibility of competing causes. The abolition of the year-and-a-day rule has shifted legal analysis from a fixed calendar limit toward case-specific causal examination, while procedural safeguards remain necessary in unusually delayed prosecutions. The study develops causal persistence as an analytical device for assessing whether the initial injury continues to contribute to death despite changes in the immediate medical mechanism. Complications, medical treatment, withdrawal of life support, and victim vulnerability do not automatically break causation; their legal effect depends on whether they remain connected to the condition created by the attack or provide an independent explanation for death. Delayed mortality may therefore remain attributable as homicide when clinical records, forensic findings, and expert evidence support a coherent causal account. The temporal boundary is reached when the contribution of the initial injury can no longer be established as a real and legally significant part of the fatal outcome.

Abstract

(Bahasa Inggris) Cassava leaves contain various bioactive components, such as vitamin C, flavonoids, and phenolic compounds, which have the potential to act as antioxidants. This study was conducted to evaluate the antioxidant activity of cassava leaf extract using the DPPH assay. The samples were first extracted, then the antioxidant activity was analyzed using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 517 nm. The test was conducted on several variations of solution concentrations, namely 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 ppm. The results showed that the extract yield obtained was 0.051666% and there was a decrease in absorbance value as the concentration of the test solution increased. The relationship between concentration and inhibition percentage showed a linear pattern with the equation y = 10.23x − 21.881 and a coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.9891. The IC₅₀ value obtained was 1,118.78, indicating that cassava leaf extract has very low antioxidant activity. Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is characterized by impaired glucose homeostasis, particularly spikes in 2-hour postprandial blood glucose (2h-PPBG) levels, which often lead to cardiovascular complications. Moringa oleifera L. leaves are known to contain active compounds such as flavonoids and tannins that have the potential to reduce oxidative stress. This study aims to evaluate the effect of Moringa leaf extract on 2h-PPBG levels in T2DM rat models. This experimental study, utilizing a post test only controlled group design, used 24 male Wistar rats randomly allocated into four groups: normal control (NC), negative control (C-), positive control (C+; glimepiride), and treatment (T1; Moringa leaf extract at a dose of 450 mg/kg body weight). The T2DM condition was induced using streptozotocin-nicotinamide (STZ-NA). Blood glucose levels were measured using the GOD-PAP enzymatic colorimetric method. Data on the difference in 2h-PPBG elevation were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The mean difference in 2h-PPBG levels in the T1 group (11.19 ± 0.74 mg/dL) was numerically higher than in the C+ (11.06 ± 0.61 mg/dL), C- (10.75 ± 0.39 mg/dL), and NC (10.88 ± 0.37 mg/dL) groups. However, statistical analysis showed no significant difference among all treatment groups (p = 0.604). The administration of Moringa leaf extract at a dose of 450 mg/kg body weight exhibited a stabilizing effect on 2h-PPBG levels comparable to glimepiride, although it did not demonstrate a statistically significant difference in reducing 2h-PPBG levels across the groups.

Abstract

The development of social media, particularly TikTok, has transformed patterns of social interaction and adolescent consumer behavior. Exposure to viral content, brief promotional messages, and live shopping features encourages the emergence of impulsive buying behavior, especially among female adolescents. One psychological factor believed to contribute to this phenomenon is Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), defined as feelings of anxiety and fear of being left behind current trends or popular social experiences. This study aims to examine the relationship between Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and impulsive buying among female TikTok users at SMA Don Bosco Padang. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The participants consisted of 143 female students of SMA Don Bosco Padang who actively use TikTok, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a FoMO scale adapted from Daravit (2021) based on the aspects proposed by Przybylski et al. (2013), and an Impulsive Buying scale adapted from Elnina (2022) based on the aspects proposed by Verplanken and Herabadi (2001). Data analysis was conducted using Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results indicated a positive and significant relationship between FoMO and impulsive buying, meaning that higher levels of FoMO among students are associated with a greater tendency toward impulsive buying. These findings suggest that social anxiety and emotional impulses driven by FoMO play an important role in adolescent consumption behavior. This study provides practical implications for schools and students in enhancing digital literacy and self-control in social media use and shopping behavior.

Abstract

Mineral resource estimation is a fundamental stage in mine planning that determines the economic viability of a deposit. This study aims to estimate laterite nickel resources using the Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) method at a deposit in PT X, North Maluku, through an integrated approach encompassing variogram analysis, strict geological domain separation, and quantitative validation. The data consist of secondary exploration drilling data from 42 drill holes, including collar, survey, assay (Ni, Fe, SiO2), and lithology. Data processing was carried out using Leapfrog for wireframe geological modeling, Snowden Supervisor for statistical and variography analysis, and Isatis.neo for compositing, block modeling, and IDW estimation. Limonite and saprolite domains were separated using hard boundary. Estimation results show a total nickel resource of 9,878.87 tonnes, comprising 3,469.31 tonnes in the limonite zone (Ni grade 1.11%) and 6,409.56 tonnes in the saprolite zone (Ni grade 1.90%). Cross-validation yielded IDW correlation coefficients ranging from 0.69 to 0.76, with Ni Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 0.24 for limonite and 0.50 for saprolite. The resulting IDW block model realistically represents grade distribution in accordance with laterite genesis principles and can serve as a reference for subsequent mine planning.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the continuing need to improve employee performance in supporting effective, efficient, timely, transparent, and accountable land administration services. Transformational leadership and work motivation are considered important factors that can encourage employees to perform their duties and responsibilities optimally. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The research data were collected through questionnaires distributed to employees of the Regional Office of the National Land Agency (BPN) of Lampung Province and were subsequently analyzed using regression analysis to examine both partial and simultaneous effects. The results showed that: (1) transformational leadership had a positive and significant effect on employee performance; (2) work motivation had a positive and significant effect on employee performance; (3) transformational leadership and work motivation simultaneously had a positive and significant effect on employee performance; and (4) transformational leadership was the variable that exerted the most dominant influence on employee performance compared with work motivation. These findings indicate that the better the implementation of transformational leadership and the higher the level of employee work motivation, the more optimal the resulting performance. Therefore, the Regional Office of the National Land Agency (BPN) of Lampung Province needs to strengthen the implementation of transformational leadership through exemplary behavior, inspiration, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration, while also enhancing work motivation through recognition and rewards, career development, education and training, and the creation of a conducive work environment. These efforts are expected to continuously improve employee performance and contribute to enhancing the quality of land administration services provided to the community.

Abstract

Inflation is a macroeconomic indicator that reflects price stability and people's purchasing power and is the main target of economic policy in Indonesia. However, the achievement of inflation targets is often influenced by various monetary factors and economic fundamentals. This study aims to analyze the influence of interest rates, money supply (M2), rupiah exchange rate, foreign exchange reserves, and economic growth on inflation in Indonesia during the period 2009–2024. The research uses a quantitative approach with secondary time series data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and Bank Indonesia. The analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression with t-test, F-test, coefficient of determination (R²), and classical assumption testing to ensure the validity of the model. The results show that only interest rates have a significant effect on inflation, while the money supply (M2), exchange rate, foreign exchange reserves, and economic growth do not show a significant influence. Nevertheless, simultaneously all variables have a significant effect on inflation. These findings show that controlling inflation requires coordination of various policy instruments, not just relying on interest rates. Therefore, synergy between Bank Indonesia and the government is an important factor in maintaining macroeconomic stability. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for policymakers and further research related to inflation dynamics in Indonesia.

Abstract

Post-mining lakes are formed as a result of mining activities and continue to undergo physical and environmental changes after mine closure. Understanding their morphological development and water quality is essential to support sustainable environmental management. This study aims to examine the characteristics of the PT X post-mining lake in Taman Sari Village, Rumpin District, Bogor Regency, through morphological change analysis and water quality assessment. The research was conducted using field surveys, historical imagery analysis, three-dimensional (3D) modeling, and water quality testing. The results show that the lake has experienced significant morphological changes, particularly due to the expansion of vegetation cover across most of its surface. Overall, the water quality meets the Class IV standards stipulated in Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 22 of 2021 (Appendix VI), although low dissolved oxygen (DO) and relatively high iron (Fe) concentrations indicate the need for continuous monitoring and sustainable management.
