Abstract

Background: Discriminant analysis is one of the statistical techniques of multivariate analysis that can be used in analyzing dependency relationships, namely relationships between variables that can distinguish between response variables and explanatory variables or independent variables. There are several methods of approach taken so that the discriminant function is formed, including direct and gradual approach methods. This study is presented in a descriptive quantitative manner and the purpose of this study is to compare the factors that influence the occurrence of hypertension in the Sukamara Health Center area using direct and stepwise discriminant analysis. Methods: Data were collected using secondary data from the ASIK application in 2024 with 158 screening participants, with the response (dependent) variable being hypertension status and the explanatory (independent) variables being physical activity (X1), body mass index (X2), salt consumption (X3) and age (X4). Results: The results of the analysis showed that the salt consumption variable was the strongest discriminant variable because it was the variable with the largest coefficient with a canonical correlation value of (36.72% direct method, 36.12% stepwise method). This means that the salt consumption variable has the strongest separating power on the occurrence of hypertension in the Sukamara Health Center working area. Conclusions: In addition, based on the results of this study it is also known that the level of accuracy in predicting the incidence of hypertension, the direct approach method has a higher accuracy value (51.0%) compared to the stepwise approach method which only has an accuracy value of 48.4%, so it can be concluded that the direct approach method is the best research method in this study, and this method can also be used for research with other non-communicable disease data.

Abstract

Background: The determination of hospital tariffs is a crucial aspect in the sustainability of healthcare facility operations, especially within the payment system of the Social Security Agency for Health (BPJS Kesehatan) based on Indonesian Case-Based Groups (INA-CBGs). This study aims to analyze the influence of the type of medical services provided by doctors, length of stay (LOS), medication costs, and laboratory costs on hospital rates for BPJS patients diagnosed with typhoid fever at Ananda Blitar General Hospital. Methods: This study uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 291 patients selected through stratified random sampling based on the class of care. Secondary data were obtained from the BPJS e-Claim and the Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS) for the period from August 1, 2021, to July 31, 2024. The analysis was conducted using dummy linear regression to identify the influence of each variable on hospital rates. Results: The research results show that the type of medical services provided by doctors, LOS, medication costs, and laboratory costs have a significant impact on hospital rates with a significance value of 0.000 < (α=0.05). Conclusions: The results of the regression test show that the type of medical services provided by doctors has the greatest influence, followed by LOS, medication costs, and laboratory costs.

Abstract

Background: Vision impairment remains a significant public health concern, particularly among the elderly. This study aims to analyze eye disease trends and patient demographic characteristics at Ayu Siwi Eye Clinic Nganjuk in 2024 to improve prevention and treatment strategies. Methods: This research adopts a descriptive epidemiological approach, utilizing secondary data from patient records. Data on the most common eye diseases and patient distribution based on age, gender, and educational level were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentages and frequency distributions. Results: The findings indicate that elderly patients are dominate this study, with 36% in the 40–59 age group and 30% over 60 years old. Female patients (56%) outnumber males (44%), possibly due to longer life expectancy and higher healthcare-seeking behavior. The most prevalent eye disease is immature cataract (31%), followed by primary open-angle glaucoma (7%) and astigmatism (6%). Patients with lower educational backgrounds (30% elementary school graduates) highlight the need for better public eye health education. Conclusions: The study highlight the importance of early screening and preventive measures, particularly for cataracts and glaucoma, to reduce the burden of vision impairment. Expanding access to routine eye examinations and strengthening community-based eye health programs is crucial for at-risk populations.

Abstract

Background: Nutritional status is a measure of a person's body condition that can be determined from the food consumed and the use of substances within the body. Anemia is a condition where the levels of hemoglobin, hematocrit, and the number of red blood cells are lower than normal values. Methods: This study used an analytic cross-sectional design with a sample of 80 female adolescents aged 12-14 years in junior high school. As the independent variable, nutritional status is calculated from the results of measuring weight and height, while the dependent variable is the incidence of anemia assessed by blood Hb levels. To analyze the correlation between the two variables, the Spearman Rank test was used at α = 5%. Results: The research findings showed that 71.3% of the subjects were in the normal nutritional status category, 13.8% were in the overweight category, and 10.0% were obese. The prevalence of anemia among the study subjects was 30.0%. The results of the correlation analysis yielded a p value = 0.825. Conclusions: It is concluded that there is no significant relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls.

Abstract

Background: Obesity is an increasingly complex and common global health problem, especially among adults. The aim of this scoping review is to examine the relationship between sleep duration and obesity in adults.  Methods: A scoping review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology guideline. Databases including PUBMED, ScienceDirect, DOAJ, and ResearchGate were searched in 2024 with the keywords "obesity AND sleep AND adults". Articles published between 2019 and 2023 that focused on observational studies. Results: Of the 2960 articles found, 7 articles met the inclusion criteria. A cross-sectional research design was used by 86% of the studies, while only 14% were enrolled in cohort studies. The majority of studies showed a significant correlation between short-term and long-term sleep duration and the likelihood of becoming obese. The assessment tools used were extensive and included interviews, questionnaires, and sleep monitors such as the Actiwatch Spectrum. The obesity assessment indicators used are Body Mass Index (BMI) and waistline. Conclusions: The review suggests that adults whose sleep is too short or too long are more likely to be obese. Lack of sleep can trigger hormonal changes, stimulate appetite, and result in obesity.

Abstract

Background: Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) remains a global issue wich is in line with the third SDGs, Indonesia having the third highest MMR in ASEAN at 189 per 100,000 live births. To reduce MMR, Indonesia implements the Childbirth Planning and Complication Prevention Program (P4K), but there are still many shortcomings that require further study on the factors affecting its implementation. Methods: The research method uses a Systematic Literature Review. Journal search terms are formulated using the PICO(S) framework. The literature search in this study used two databases, namely the National Library and Google Scholar. Results: The research results showed that 7 out of 10 articles explained that the successful implementation of the program was caused by the communication skills of midwives as health service providers, human resources, budget, dispositions and policies, bureaucracy and standard operational procedures, facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the 3 articles explained stated that the success of the program was caused by the knowledge, attitudes and family support of pregnant women. Conclusions: The program's success is mainly attributed to factors like midwives' communication skills, resources, budget, policies, and infrastructure, while a smaller focus is placed on the knowledge, attitudes, and family support of pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: Adolescents in Indonesia face the triple burden of malnutrition due to low nutritional literacy. This study evaluates the impact of Learning Cards (in bahasa: Kartu Belajar or Kejar) in improving anthropometric knowledge and skills among adolescents. Methods: This was a pre-experimental, single-group pre-test post-test design was conducted in Giripanggung Village, Tepus, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2023. Fifty adolescents, aged 11-19 years, participated in a three-day offline training covering weight, height, and mid-upper arm circumference measurements. Data were collected at three points (pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test 2) and analyzed using tests. Results: Adolescents' knowledge significantly improved from a pre-test mean score of 54.7 ± 11.8 to 79.7 ± 11.9 in post-test 1 (p < 0.05). While post-test 2 showed a slight decline (77.6 ± 12.5), knowledge remained significantly higher than baseline (p < 0.05). Anthropometric skills also increased substantially, with weight measurement scores rising from 51.3 ± 21.5 (pre-test) to 85.3 ± 13.7 (post-test 1, p < 0.05). Although post-test 2 showed a decline (75.2 ± 15.4), the scores remained higher than the pre-test (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Training using Kejar effectively enhances adolescents' knowledge and skills in anthropometry. These findings suggest that expanding the use of Kejar media to other communities could Improve adolescent nutrition literacy at a national level.
