Utilizing a literature review method, the research analyzes the normative and applicative aspects of the hadith, particularly in relation to modern economic activities and scholarly interpretations. The findings highlight several key points: (1) the significance of productivity, economic independence, and work ethics in Islam; (2) its relevance to modern economic principles such as entrepreneurship, innovation, and corporate social responsibility; (3) scholarly interpretations that emphasize encouragement to work diligently, achieve financial independence, and actively assist others; and (4) the consistency of this hadith with other Islamic teachings that promote productivity and contributions to social welfare. Furthermore, the study underscores the importance of balancing personal effort and reliance on Allah in seeking sustenance. In conclusion, Islam encourages its followers to be proactive, productive, and generous, positioning economic endeavors as both acts of worship and contributions to social well-being.

Abstract

Hadith is the second foundation of Islamic law after the Koran. This hadith as a second source is shown by three things, namely; the Qur'an itself, the agreement (ijma`) of scholars, and the logic of common sense (ma`qul). The Koran emphasizes that the Prophet functioned to explain the meaning of Allah's words. Therefore, what the Prophet said must be followed, even the Prophet's behavior as an apostle must be imitated by the Muslims. This article finds that the function of hadith in the Qur'an is as bayan and muhaqiq (explanatory and strengthening) for the Qur'an. Both as bayan taqrir, bayan tafsir, takhshish al-’am, bayan tabdila. Not only that, this article also found that the hadith of the Prophet had established new laws that were not established by the Qur'an. Because in the Qur'an there are verses that command believers to obey absolutely what the Messenger of Allah commanded and prohibited, and threaten those who disagree with them.

Abstract

This study emphasizes the importance of developing a resilient and ethical entrepreneurial spirit through the guidance of the hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In the context of the globalized era, entrepreneurship has become one of the key drivers in promoting economic growth. Islam provides profound guidance in spiritual and moral aspects, particularly concerning trade, work ethic, and innovation. Hadiths related to entrepreneurship, such as the virtues of trade and the importance of lawful business practices, serve as motivation and guidance for Muslims in conducting business in accordance with Islamic values. Although some hadiths on trade are considered weak by scholars, this study finds that they still serve as a source of inspiration in shaping entrepreneurs with integrity. Values such as hard work, honesty, and the reward for lawful efforts are emphasized in these hadiths. Therefore, Muslim entrepreneurs are expected to run businesses that are blessed, sustainable, and beneficial to society, based on Islamic principles
