Abstract

This journal analyzes Mexico's role as a buffer state in managing migration flows from Central America to the United States from 2017 to 2025. Due to its strategic geographical location and high economic dependence on the US, Mexico has been subject to coercive diplomatic pressure in the form of tariff threats, the Remain in Mexico policy, the Zero Tolerance policy, military deployment, and mass deportations. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and a normative analysis of policy documents and official reports, the study concludes that this external pressure has prompted Mexico to implement stricter domestic policies, including the deployment of the National Guard, the construction of migrant detention centers, and limitations on access to asylum procedures. This creates a strategic dilemma for Mexico, pitting the need to maintain bilateral stability with the US against the need to uphold national sovereignty and commitments to human rights. At the local level, these policies have led to a humanitarian crisis in border regions, increased burdens on public services, and social and political tensions. The journal emphasizes the importance of reformulating Mexico's migration policies through institutional capacity building, developing the southern regions, and taking a multilateral approach that emphasizes shared responsibility and the fair protection of migrants.

Abstract

 This research is based on the fact that Kerta Negara Village, Madang Suku II District, Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency has a population of 43% immigrants from Palembang, and there are obstacles felt by immigrants such as difficulty in using the Komering language, so that most of the immigrants do not understand what is being talked about by the native community in the Komering area and need adaptation. This study aims to determine the language adaptation of the Palembang community in using the Komering language and to determine the obstacles that the Palembang community experiences during the adaptation of the Komering language in Kerta Negara Village, Madang Suku II District, Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency. The research is included in the type of research with a qualitative research method. The main data of the study were obtained directly from the Kertanegara Village community, then the data were analyzed using the theory of cultural adaptation. The results of the study indicate that adaptation through social activities of mutual cooperation in various activities and holding regular social gatherings. Second, through traditional performances such as poetry reading which is still preserved by the Komering community. Third, establishing communication by involving buying and selling, buying and selling activities carried out by the people of Palembang City. Fourth, the involvement of immigrant communities in the village government system will increasingly provide opportunities to be able to adapt, because it will deal with the welfare of the local community. The obstacles experienced by the Palembang community in adapting the language are the different language structures and vocabulary between the Komering language and the Palembang language. Then, limited access to Komering language teaching materials makes immigrant communities have to rely on their ability to listen and imitate in the learning process, and the low number of Komering language users by immigrant communities.  Keywords: Language Adaptation, Komering, Palembang   ABSTRAK    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dengan Desa Kerta Negara Kecamatan Madang Suku ll Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu Timur memiliki jumlah masyarakat pendatang sebanyak 43% yang berasal dari Palembang, dan terjadi kendala yang dirasakan oleh masyarakat pendatang seperti kesusahan dalam menggunakan bahasa Komering, sehingga kebanyakan dari warga yang pendatang banyak yang kurang memahami apa yang dibicarakan oleh masyarakat asli yang ada di daerah Komering dan membutuhkan adaptasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adaptasi bahasa masyarakat Palembang dalam penggunaan bahasa Komering dan mengetahui hambatan yang masyarakat Palembang alami selama melakukan adaptasi bahasa komering di Desa Kerta Negara Kec. Madang Suku ll Kab. Ogan Komering Ulu Timur. Penelitian termasuk kedalam jenis penelitian dengan metode penelitian kualitatif. Data utama penelitian diperoleh langsung dari masyarakat Desa Kerta Negara, kemudian data dianalisis dengan teori adaptasi budaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adaptasi melalui kegiatan sosial gotong royong dalam berbagai kegiatan dan mengadakan arisan rutin. Kedua, dengan melalui pertunjukan adat seperti tutur syair yang sampai sekarang masih dilestarikan oleh masyarakat Komering. Ketiga, menjalin komunikasi dengan melibatkan jual beli, kegiatan jual beli yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Kota Palembang. Keempat, keterlibatan masyarakat pendatang pada sistem pemerintahan desa akan semakin memberikan peluang untuk dapat melakukan adaptasi, karena akan berurusan dengan kesejahteraan masyarakat setempat. Hambatan yang dialami oleh masyarakat Palembang dalam melakukan adaptasi bahasa adalah struktur bahasa dan kosakata yang berbeda antara bahasa Komering dan bahasa Palembang. Kemudian, keterbatasan akses terhadap bahan ajar bahasa Komering membuat masyarakat pendatang harus mengandalkan kemampuan mendengar dan meniru dalam proses belajar, dan rendahnya jumlah penggunaan bahasa Komering oleh masyarakat pendatang.    Kata Kunci: Adaptasi Bahasa, Komering, Palembang

Abstract

ABSTRACT Preserving local culture is a shared responsibility, especially for the younger generation as the successors of traditional values. One of the cultural heritages that is starting to be abandoned is the fan weaving craft which has high artistic and historical value. This study aims to determine how persuasive communication is used to encourage youth participation in preserving fan weaving, and to analyze the inhibiting factors for parents to convince youth to participate in preserving fan weaving. The theory used in this study is the theory of attitude change, namely influencing a person's attitude, opinion, and behavior which aims to change perceptions, thoughts and actions and is related to a person's emotional life. The communication process is carried out by inviting and persuading people to change attitudes, beliefs and opinions according to the wishes of the communicator. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques are carried out through interviews, observations and documentation of youth and community leaders in Tanjung Tambak Village, Ogan Ilir. The results of the study indicate that effective persuasive communication is carried out through a personal approach, creative education, and the use of social media as a means of cultural promotion, although there are obstacles such as minimal interest and the assumption that traditional crafts are not economically promising, appropriate communication can increase awareness and involvement of adolescents in cultural preservation activities. The conclusion of this study is that persuasive communication has an important role in forming positive attitudes of adolescents towards the preservation of woven fans, ongoing support is needed from various parties, including families, schools and local governments, so that these preservation efforts can run consistently and sustainably. Keywords: Persuasive Communication, Adolescents, Cultural Preservation, Anyam Kipas, Traditional Crafts ABSTRAK Pelestarian budaya lokal merupakan tanggung jawab bersama, khususnya generasi muda sebagai penerus nilai-nilai tradisional. Salah satu warisan budaya yang mulai ditinggalkan adalah kerajinan anyam kipas yang memiliki nilai seni dan sejarah tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana komunikasi persuasif digunakan dalam mendorong partisipasi remaja untuk melestarikan pembuatan anyam kipas, serta menganalisis faktor penghambat orang tua untuk menyakinkan remaja agar ikut serta melestarikan pembuatan anyam kipas. Adapun teori yang dipakai pada penelitian ini adalah teori perubahan sikap yaitu mempengaruhi sikap, pendapat, dan perilaku seseorang yang bertujuan untuk mengubah persepsi, pemikiran dan tindakan serta berkaitan dengan kehidupan emosional seseorang proses komunikasi dilakukan dengan mengajak dan membujuk orang agar terjadi perubahan sikap, keyakinan dan pendapat sesuai keinginan komunikator. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi terhadap remaja dan tokoh masyarakat di Desa Tanjung Tambak Ogan Ilir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi persuasif yang efektif dilakukan melalui pendekatan personal, edukasi kreatif, dan penggunaan media sosial sebagai sarana promosi budaya meskipun terdapat kendala seperti minimnya minat dan anggapan bahwa kerajinan tradisional tidak menjanjikan secara ekonomi, komunikasi yang tepat mampu meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterlibatan remaja dalam kegiatan pelestarian budaya. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa komunikasi persuasif memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk sikap positif remaja terhadap pelestarian anyam kipas diperlukan dukungan yang berkelanjutan dari berbagai pihak, termasuk keluarga, sekolah dan pemerintah daerah, agar upaya pelestarian ini dapat berjalan secara konsisten dan berkelanjutan. Abstract

Events related to the Palestinian question are accelerating. Before the development of the situation in the United Nations arena, which led to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, a plethora of solutions were proposed. These included the annexation of the Palestinian territories to the Jordanian confederation and the granting of autonomy to the residential groups. However, certain individuals have proposed highly unconventional and impractical proposals, such as the acquisition of the Gaza Strip for developing it into a tourist resort, the expulsion of its current inhabitants to Egypt and Jordan, and the annexation of the West Bank to Israel. This research aims to show how Israel has deprived Palestinians of their right to self-determination. A historic and legal exploratory approach was used to examine and analyse the various data available on this topic. The findings revealed all the irregular measures taken by the Zionists to prevent the Palestinians from achieving an independent homeland. Finally, the study recommends that the international legal order assume its historic responsibility to defend the legality of the fundamental Palestinian rights and secure peace in the Middle East, in accordance with international law, international humanitarian law, and international covenants.

Abstract

This аrticle takes a closer look at how gender and warfare impacted each other across 20th century. Wars did not just change borders-they shook up the lives and roles of men and women in ways that still echo today. With examples from World War I, World War II, the Cold War, and struggles for independence, I show how war pushed people into new roles: women took on factory and military jobs, while societies sometimes doubled down on traditional gender rules once the fighting stopped. By digging into diaries, interviews, and a range of historical sources, I try to show both sides of the story-how war could open doors for women and challenge old ideas, but also how those changes did not always last. Understanding this back-and-forth helps us see why gender and war are still linked today, and why the lessons from that era matter for anyone thinking about equality, identity, or policy now.
