Abstract

Surgery is a treatment on a part of the body that can cause infections. One of the factor that can decrease the number of surgical infections by administering the antibiotic propylaxis. Antibiotic propylaxis that used must be safe,bacterisid and effective againts bacteria. this research aimd to know the appropriateness of antibiotics for surgical propylaxis that includesaccuracy of diagnose, accuracy of dosage and timeliness of administering of antibiotics. A method of this study using data retrospective include determinations criteria of drugs, patients and standars medical use. The data obtainedfrom the medical record was evaluated of medical record reliability according to criteria of the use of antibiotics that were made. Based on the result of the study the number of patients who underwent surgery with details 30 man and 54 woman and the propylaxys antibiotic that used was the third generations of cephalosporin (90,84%) having broad spectrum and effective againts gram positive and negative bacteria. From the data has been evaluated there was glaring discrepancy in provisions of prophylaxys antibiotics 4,77%. but for the accuracy of the diagnosis, dose and mode of administration of antibiotic prophylaxis is in compliance with the criteria of the use of prophylaxys antibiotics. We concluded that the use of antibiotics as a prophylactic surgery were in accordance with the criteria of the use of antibiotics as a prophylactic surgery. Keywords: , , Kata Kunci : , ,

Abstract

Background and purpose: Hypertriglyceridemic is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Hypertriglyceridemia occurs due to increased levels of triglycerides can lead to accumulation of lipids in the walls of arteries that can lead to atherosclerosis. This research aimsed to study the activity as antihipertrigliseridemia of Curcuma longa extract, Zingiber cassumunar extract and its combination using lipid tolerance test method.Methods: Twenty-eight male Wistar rats were divided into 7 groups randomly. Group 1 (vehicle of drug suspension), group 2 (gemfibrozil (Hypofil®) 27 mg / kg bw), group 3 (vehicle of drug suspension), group 4 (Curcuma longa extract 100 mg / kg bw), group 5 (Curcuma longa extract 100 mg / kg bb), group 6 (Curcuma longa and Zingiber cassumunar extracts 50: 50 mg / kg bw), group 7 (Curcuma longa and Zingiber cassumunar extracts 100: 100 mg / kg bw). All groups except group 1 received propylthiouracil (10 mg / kg bw) orally for 5 day. On day 5, two hours after the last administration of drug and PTU, animals were induced by lipid emulsion intravenously. Triglyceride serum levels were measured at 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 minutes. Results: Results showed that Curcuma longa extract, Zingiber cassumunar extract, and its combination, and gemfibrozil (Hypofil®) decreased triglycerides levels for 40 minute (p <0, 05) when compared to positive group (induction). The percentage of decrease in triglyceride levels in the 40 minute were gemfibrozil (65.01%), Curcuma longa extract (60.21%), Zingiber cassumunar extract (61.19%), a combination 1 (57.1%), and combination 2 (64.97 %). Conclusion: From this study it can be concluded that Curcuma longa extract, Zingiber cassumunarextract and its combination had antihipertrigliceridemic activity.

Abstract

Hesperetin, luteolin, kaempferol, isorhamnetin, and galangin are an active compounds contained in the honey. The fifth of these compounds in vivo has as anti-inflammatory activity. Docking simulation was done to visualize the interaction between the fifth ligand to the histamine H4 receptor compared with synthetic compounds that proved JNJ7777120 act as receptor selective H4R antagonist with anti-inflammatory properties. Docking simulation results showed that JNJ777120 is best histamine H4 receptor antagonist compound, but the compound of hesperetin, luteolin, kaempferol, isorhamnetin, and galangin also predicted potential as histamine H4 receptor antagonist. Toxicological properties focused on carcinogenicity and mutagenicity as an important concern in human health and drug design structure are directly related. The conclusion was JNJ7777120 compound H4R antagonist compound was rated as the best, but the compound hesperetin, luteolin, kaempferol, isorhamnetin , and galangin also predicted potential as histamine H4 receptor antagonist . JNJ7777120, galangin , hesperetin , kaempferol, luteolin and non- carcinogens and mutagens are carcinogens while predictable isorhamnetin.

Abstract

Rhodamine B is a synthetic red in paint and textile industry which is conclude as carcinogenic and being accumulated in the body. Cosmetics such as blush on and eye shadow is decorative cosmetics giving redish color and has a red color in the preparate. Identification of rhodamine B in blush on and eye shadow was conducted using TLC and HPLC. The mobile ammonia n-butanol phase in TLC method was mixture of ethyl acetate 25% (20:55:25, v/v/v) with Rf value of 0.86. HPLC was then further used to analyze at a wavelength 554 nm, using mobile phase acetonitrile water (47:47:6, v/v/v) with a flow rate of 1.4 mL/min and C18methanol column. The limit of detection and limit of quantitation for rhodamin B were 0.449 and 1.498 μg/mL, respectively. Three of six samples of blush on and all eye shadow samples positive containing rhodamine B. Abstract

P2Y purinergik reseptor adalah bagian dari G-protein couple receptor (GPCRs), group reseptor yang merupakan target utama pada berbagai pengobatan. Hingga kini, delapan subtipe reseptor P2Y telahdiidentifikasi. Kelompok pertama dari P2Yadalah reseptor P2Y1, P2Y2, P2Y4, P2Y6, dan P2Y11. Reseptor P2Yditemukan di berbagai lokasi di dalam tubuh seperti otak, limfosit, paru-paru, sel darah dan lain-lain. Salah satu reseptor yaitu reseptor P2Y12 memainkan peran utama dalam aktivasi trombosit. Reseptor ini dilaporkan untuk mengambil bagian dalam amplifikasi dan penyelesaian aktivasi platelet dan agregasi antagonis reseptor P2Y12 yang telah dikenal untuk pengobatan adalah clopidogrel dan ticlopidin. Berdasarkan lokasi dan peran P2Y reseptor dalam berbagai fungsi tubuh, dapat disimpulkan bahwa P2Y reseptor merupakan salah satu reseptor yang dapat dijadikan pengembangan obat secara rasional berdasarkan target.

Abstract

Sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack) is Indonesian indigenous plant, which has been used in traditional medicine as a mouthwash and minor injuries. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of Sungkai bark and leaves and determined the active compounds as antibacterial. The sample was maserated with 96% ethanol as a solvent and fractionation was done by liquid-liquid extraction with n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol as solvents. Antibacterial activity assay was done by Broth Microdilution method and bioautography contact was done to determine the active compounds as antibacterial. The antibacterial activity test showed that Sungkai bark has no antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, while Sugkai leaves extracts, ethyl acetate fraction, and methanol fraction showed antibacterial activity against S. aureus with Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) Minimum Bactericidal Concentration respectively 1024 µg/ml, 1024 µg/ml dan 512 µg/ml and against E. coli with MIC and MBC of 512 ug/ ml.The result of bioautography test of Sungkai leaves extracts and fractions against S. aureus and E.coli showed that the predicted active antibacterial compounds were alkaloid and flavonoid. Conclusion : Methanol fraction of Sungkai leaves was the strongest antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli bacteria with MIC and MBC value of 512 µg/ml

Abstract

Averrhoa bilimbi L have been known to have antidiabetic effect. The part of Averrhoa bilimbi L plant that usually used is leaf and fruit. While, the polar solvent often used to extracted the plant. The aim of this study is to investigated antidiabetic activity of Averrhoa bilimbi leaves extract with three various solvent. Averrhoa bilimbi leaves were extracted using three different solvent that are hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol. Characterization dan phytochemistry screening of all extracts were done to get standarized extract. Antidiabetic activity was evaluated using alloxan induced diabetes rats. Fourthy wistar rats devided into ten groups that are normal group, control group that induced by alloxan and given CMC, and eight treatment group that induced by alloxan and given ethyl acetate and ethanol extract of Averrhoa bilimbi with 125, 250, and 500 mg/kg bw doses, 500 mg/kg bw of hexane extract and 0.65 mg/kg bw of glibenclamid. Blood glucose levels were measured before and after alloxan induction, and two weeks after treatment. The results showed that blood glucose level in control group (333.3±28.4g/dl) have significant difference (p<0.05) compared to treatment group that given Averrhoa bilimbi ethanol and ethyl acetate extract with 125,250 and 500mg/kb bw doses, that are 101±59.6; 94.8±8.9; 77.8±15.2; 125±25.3; 158±44.9 and 119±39.9 respectively. Meanwhile, ethanol is the best solvent to extract Averrhoa bilimbi and the most effective dose is 125 mg/kg bw. Ethanol extract also have better antidiabetic activity than that of ethyl acetate extract, whereas hexane extract have not antidiabetic activity.

Abstract

Probiotics are live microorganisms when consumed in sufficient quantities to provide health benefits to host. Red guava (Psidium guajava L) is one of the many types of fruit are produced in Indonesia, which contains fructose and glucose monosacaride be high enough. The aims of this research was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of probiotic drink red guava juice for digestive tract bacteria is Escherichia coli and Shigella dysenteriae. Research methods include phytochemical screening, the manufacture of probiotic drinks, quality testing and test activities. Results of phytochemical screening red guava fruit showed flavonoids, tannins and polyphenols. Probiotic drinks made into 2 formulas. The first formula without the addition of skim milk and the second formula with the addition of skim milk concentration of 7.5%. Both use a combination of Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus (1: 1). Tests include organoleptic quality probiotic drink (shape, color, aroma, flavor), and the pH value of qualitative and quantitative tests lactic acid. The test results showed levels of lactic acid and pH value for first formula and second formula in a row is 1.65%; 1.98%; 4.98; 4.20. Testing the activity of probiotic drinks using Total Plate Count method. The first formula resulted a reduction of Escherichia coli populations by 7.55% at 0 hours and 26.61% at 72 hours, Shigella dysenteriae 8.26% at 0 hours and 28.34% at 72 hours. On the second formula resulted a reduction of Escherichia coli population of 10.43% at 0 hours and 31.65% at 72 hours, Shigella dysenteriae 11.41% at 0 hours and 35.43% at 72 hours. The second formula is the best formula in reducing two test bacterial population on dilution 107 cfu / mL.

Abstract

The study of ethnopharmacognosy – ethnopharmacology of traditional usage of herbal medicine in “Kampung Naga Kecamatan Salawu Kabupaten Tasikmalaya” had been studied. Method of this study contained of distric and ethnopharmacognosy – ethnopharmacology studies.It showed that there were 28 family of plants and 51 species that identified used as traditional medicine in “Kampung Naga”, which Asteraceae was the most used. Imunostimulant was the most used utillity among those plants. Leaves was the most used part of those plants. Garden is the most collected among the others. Boiled in the water was the most drug processing used.

Abstract

Jeruk or Citrus is a fruit that is often consumed by Indonesia people, there are several kind of citrus such as C. sinensis, C. hystrix, C. aurantifolia, C.maxima and C. nobilis. The active compounds known from these plants are phenolic compounds which have antioxidant activity. The research was carried out to determine the total phenol content and antioxidant activity of some of the citrus. Squeezed citrus fruit were freeze dried to obtain dry juice. The levels of total phenols from juice were determined using Folin Ciocalteau reagent while antioxidant activity was tested in vitro using the method of reduction of free radical 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl Hydrazyl (DPPH). Total phenol content of C. sinensis, C. hystrix, C. aurantifolia, C. maxima and C. nobilis respectively were 98,6; 141,7; 81,7; 71,3; 67,4 (mg gallic acid/100 g juice). EC50 (efficient concentration)of C. sinensis, C. hystrix, C. aurantifolia, C. maxima and C. nobilis respectively were 732.00; 1255.07; 1631.80; 1739.72; 2192.2 µg/mL.
