Abstract

Acute respiratory infections (ARI) is a very serious health problem in the world or in Indonesia. Period prevalence of ARI in Indonesia according Riskesdas 2013 amounted to 25.0%. Respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis represent the vast majority of cases. Pharyngitis is largely caused by the bacterium Streptococcus group A β-haemolytic. One of the main drug is an antibiotic to treat pharyngitis. Improper use of antibiotics in the treatment of pharyngitis can lead to resistance and side effects, it is necessary to drugs use evaluate as a form of quality assurance of drug use to assess the suitability of the use of antibiotics in the treatment of pharyngitis. Research conducted an observational study with descriptive data presentation and data collection retrospectively. Based on the results of research in the period January to April 2015 obtained 56 patients studied. Patients with pharyngitis is pediatric (53.57%) and 46.43% is adult patients. All patients studied using antibiotic therapy. Antibiotics are widely used cephalosporins (89.29%), with sefiksim (60.71%). Results of the qualittive analysis known that patients received appropriate indication of antibiotic is 100%, appropriate doses of 96.49%, duration of therapy appropriate for 87.72%, the use of antibiotic combination that has a synergistic effect in 1(one) patient. There is no duplication, but there are 14 cases that have the potential occur drug interactions.

Abstract

Breast cancer is the highest mortality disease on women in the world and about 60-80% of the cases are ERα+ breast cancer. The discovery of more selective to HERα, safe, and potential new anticancer agent is expected to help the treatment of ERα+ breast cancer. In silico analysis had been carried out by computational chemistry methods, including determination of physicochemical parameters such as lipophilicity/CLogP, molar refractivity/CMR, bond energy/HOMO-LUMO and E-Gap, partial charge reactivity; determination of structural similarity by overlaying, and the interaction analysis of genistein and its analogues against HERα by docking method. The result showed that group of -7OH on the C ring and group of -4'OH on the A ring of genistein were the major pharmacophore. More number of hydrogen bonds (especially to Arg394), shorter distance, and lower free binding energy resulted higher inhibitory activity, it was shown by MA6 which had 4 of hydrogen bonds (14,51 kcal/mol) and each of them bound to Arg394 (=N- aromatic, substituent of -4'OR), Arg394 (-4'OR), His524 (-7OR), and Leu391 (=N- aromatic, substituent of -4'OR). Genistein, MA6, and MA8 had similar activity to tamoxifen even predicted more potent (MA6), it was correlated to its binding with Arg394. The complete result of in silico analysis confirmed the activity of genistein and its analogues as an inhibitor of ERα+ breast cancer.

Abstract

Microemulsions are thermodynamically stable colloidal dispersions of water and oil stabilized by a surfactant and a cosurfactant. The aim of the present study was to developmicroemulsion as a protein delivery based on proteins released by using ovalbumin (OVA) as a model protein. W/O microemulsion with the concentration ratio of surfactant (Tween 80-Span 80) cosurfactant (butanol) 5:1, 6:1, 7:1 were investigated. All formulation showed similarity organoleptic (yellow, transparent, low viscosity). Ovalbumin release test were analyzed using UV-Vis spectrophotometric method at wavelength 584 nm. Comomassie Brilliant Blue (CBB) were use detection of ovalbumin. Franz diffusion cells with the cellophane membraneswere used. The amount of released OVA was measured with UV-spectrophotometric and the percentage of drug released was calculated. The highest AUC of released ovalbumin from microemulsion were formula 5:1. Based on the results obtained that the w/o microemulsion 5:1 could be used as a possible alternative to protein delivery system. Keywords : Kata kunci :

Abstract

Direct tableting method needs to increase compressibility and flowability of the bulk powder in order to maintain a steady supply of powder mixture to tableting machine and sufficient mechanical strength of compacted tablet. Acetaminophen exhibits poor water solubility and flow properties.Spherical agglomerates of acetaminophen were prepared by neutralization method. Spherical agglomerates were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, Infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffactometry. Micromeritic behavior of pure and spherical agglomerates of acetaminophen were carried out. Spherical agglomerates exhibited improved micromeritic properties compared with pure Acetaminophen.

Abstract

Tunjuk langit rhizome (Helminthostahcys zeylanica (Linn) Hook) has been used traditionally as an anticancer and antiinflammatory agent. Previous studies have proved the potency of ethanol extract from this rhizome as an antihyperuricemic agent. In this study, the ethanol extract of the rhizome, was formulated into tablet dosage forms by a wet granulation method. Three tablet formulas with different types of disintegrant and binder were formula A (starch: PVA), formula B (Avicel®PH102: PVP), and formula C (sodium alginate: methylcellulose). Physical properties (such as weight variation, tablet diameter, thickness, friability, hardness, and disintegration time) and dissolution of tablets were evaluated. The analysis results showed that formula A produced the best physical properties and dissolution characteristics.
