Abstract

This research explores the history, significance, and symbolic meanings of Tongkonan, the traditional house of the Toraja people. Through interviews with stakeholders of Toraja society and a review of relevant literature, the study aims to uncover the deep-rooted connections between Tongkonan and social status, as well as its role in upholding traditional laws. The findings underscore Tongkonan's central importance as not merely architectural structures but repositories of cultural identity and sacred rituals such as Rambu Solo', Rambu Tuka', and Mangrara. These houses are believed to have originated in heaven, reflecting the profound ancestral reverence among the Toraja. The intricate details of Tongkonan design, including shapes, sizes, and motifs, highlight meticulous attention to cultural and philosophical nuances. The study suggests that Tongkonan remains indispensable to Toraja customs and identity, resisting pressures of modernization. This research contributes to preserving Toraja's cultural heritage by elucidating the enduring significance of Tongkonan in contemporary times.

Women and children represent a significant portion of Indonesia's population, making up about 65% or two-thirds of the total population. This demographic is concentrated in 74,961 villages across the country. Optimizing the potential of women and children through empowerment and protection is vital for national development, as outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 18 of 2020 on the National Medium-Term Development Plan for 2020-2024. The KKN 58 group 06 from UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan, in collaboration with the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service, conducted outreach in Wonopringgo Village to emphasize the importance of creating a Women-Friendly and Child-Caring Village. The aim was to ensure that the community, particularly women and children, can actively participate in village development and secure their rights. The socialization activities provided knowledge and understanding of what a Women-Friendly and Child-Caring Village entails and its benefits, striving to integrate gender perspectives and children's rights into village governance, development, and empowerment processes.

Abstract

The socialization and assistance activities for obtaining NPWP (Taxpayer Identification Number) were conducted on July 22 and August 1, 2023, at MSME outlets in Lawe-Lawe Village, Penajam District, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan. Focusing on two MSME owners, the activity aimed to provide knowledge on taxation rights and obligations, the benefits of having an NPWP, and the requirements for obtaining one. Abstract

Rifa'iyah, a religious-based community organization founded by KH. Ahmad Rifa'i from Kendal, Central Java, holds significant influence in Badak Village, Pemalang. This study aims to explore the efforts to preserve Rifa'iyah teachings in this village and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors. Employing a qualitative field research approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that religious leaders and the community preserve Rifa'iyah teachings by consistently using and studying the Tarjumah book, maintaining Rifa'iyah traditions, developing educational institutions, promoting da'wah, and revitalizing the Rifa'iyah organization. Supporting factors include the ease with which laypeople accept Rifa'iyah teachings, strong community bonds, the commitment of religious leaders, and active community participation in religious studies. Inhibiting factors are the advancing tide of globalization, unregulated technology, and insufficient participation in organizational activities. These insights highlight the dynamic interplay of tradition and modernity in preserving Rifa'iyah values in Badak Village.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted the economy of rural communities in Indonesia, including Sampung Village, Sarang District, Rembang Regency. This research aims to enhance the economic value and shelf life of the sapodilla harvest by transforming it into Zapota Chips. Using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, the study involved community members in the process. Key strategies included trial production of sapodilla products, branding and packaging of Zapota Chips, launching the product, establishing the UMKM Guyub Berkarya organizational structure, and conducting seminars with the Dinas DAGKOPUKM Rembang Regency. Additionally, marketing relationships were cultivated, and mentoring was provided for UMKM members. Financial planning discussions and coordination for distribution were also conducted. The initiative engaged local resources, particularly young women and housewives, to enhance economic empowerment. The results indicate that these efforts successfully increased the economic value of the sapodilla harvest, fostering local development. This program exemplifies how community involvement and strategic planning can harness local potential for broader economic benefits.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and implement the religious harmony that originates from the customs of Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi. The research focuses on the diverse religious and cultural practices in Tana Toraja, particularly in the Lembang Pakala area, RT. Tarangga. The findings highlight the community's longstanding embrace of religious and cultural diversity, exemplified by customs such as Rambu Solo, a funeral ceremony, and practices promoting religious tolerance, like providing food to Christian children in schools and avoiding pork offerings to Muslims. The study suggests that these customs not only foster religious harmony locally but also serve as a model for other regions in Indonesia. The cultural practices of Tana Toraja demonstrate how to build a sense of togetherness and harmony among diverse religious communities, extending beyond just Muslims and Christians. This research underscores the potential for these customs to contribute to broader efforts in promoting religious moderation and unity on a global scale.
