Abstract

An effort to anticipate a food crisis is to increase food production by planting upland rice in dry lands. In addition, provision of appropriate fertilizer has great potential for strengthening food self-sufficiency and for future agricultural development. The study was aimed at determining growth and yield of three varieties of upland rice under a compound fertilizer. The experiment was arranged in split plot design, consisting of three upland rice varieties and three levels of compound fertilizer. The main plot was upland rice varieties, i.e. Inpago 4, Inpago 5, and Inpago 8, while the subplot was compound fertilizer, i.e. a dose of 0 kg/ha, 150 kg/ha, and 250 kg/ha. Results showed that varieties significantly affected plant height, panicle numbers, and panicle length, but did not significant affect weight of 1000 grains and dried grain. Inpago 4 was the best variety. The best of NPK fertilizer was found at dose of 250 kg/ha.

Abstract

Test of Viability and Seed Vigor of Several Rice Varieties Produced in Difference Temperaturs During Ripening Stage Cut Nur Ichsan ABSTRACT Research concerning effect of variety and temperature at ripening stage on viability and seed vigor has been conducted in seed technology laboratory of Agriculture Faculty, SyiahKualaUniversityfrom March 2004 until August 2004. The aim of the research was to evaluate seed viability and vigor of seed due to variety and ripening temperature. A factorial completely randomized design was used in this research. The rice varieties used were  cisantang, kalimas, ciherang, widar and IR 64. The temperatures of ripening stage were : 27-32 oC  and 30-38 oC. Observed variables were  growth potency, germination rate, growth speed, growth uniformity, germination time for 50 % seed, dry weight of normal seedling.  Result showed that variety and ripening stage temperature did not have significant effect on viability and vigor of rice seed.

Abstract

In an attempt to obtain a cost-effective and a simpler way of growing Dendrobium seedling in vitro, this study was conducted to investigate effects of basal media and organic additives on in vitro growth of Dendrobium seedlings.  The basal media used were that of half strength Murashige and Skoog (½ MS medium) and that containing foliar fertililizer 32:10:10 and trace elements (FT medium). Treatments were combinations of basal media (1/2 MS medium and FT medium) and different kinds of organic additive (tomato, potato, and mungbean sprout juice and banana homogenate). The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with three replicates, 5 culture vessels per replicate and 4 seedlings ca. 1.5 cm per vessel.  The experiment showed that FT medium resulted in significantly higher growth than ½ MS medium as indicated by seedling fresh weight.  The media containing tomato juice led to highest growth of seedling as shown by seedling fresh weight and seedling height. Since FT medium caused better growth than ½ MS medium, the FT medium could be used as a substitute for ½ MS medium for growing Dendrobium hybrid seedlings. The seedlings were successfully acclimatized in a shaded green house environment with 100% survival rate.

Abstract

The study was aimed at determining effect of mulch type and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer Super Bionic on growth and yield of onion.  The experiment used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) 3x3 with 3 replications. There were 2 factors investigated, 1) type of mulch consisting of 3 levels: straw, burned husk, and water hyacinth and 2) concentration of organic liquid fertilizer Super Bionic consisting of 3 levels: 2 cc/L of water, 4 cc/L of water and 6 cc/L of water. The results showed that the type of mulch significantly affected the number of tubers per hill, but did not exert significant effects on plant height and number of tillers at ages 15, 30 and 45 days after planting (DAP), wet weight of tuber per hill and dry weight of tubers per hill and potential yield.  Growth and yield of onion tended to be better at water hyacinth mulch. Concentration of  liquid organic fertilizer Super Bionic significantly affected the number of tillers at age 15, 30 and 45 DAP and dry weight of tuber per hill, but did not exert significant effects on plant height at age 15, 30 and 45 DAP, the number of tubers per hill, wet weight of tuber per hill and potential yield. Better growth and yield were obtained at concentrations 2 cc/L of water. There was no significant interaction between type of mulch and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer Super Bionic.

Abstract

Effect of Gandasil D Fertilizer and Harmonic Growth  Regulator on Growth and Yield of Egg Plant Jumini dan Ainun Marliah Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Darussalam Banda Aceh ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to study effect of Gandasil D fertilizer concentration and Harmonik growth regulator on growth and yield of egg plants. Experimental design used was a factorial 3 x 4 with three replications. The two factors investigated were Gandasil D concentration (0 g/l, 2 g/l and 4 g/l of water), and Harmonik growth regulator concentration (0 cc/l, 1 cc/l, 2 cc/l and 3 cc/l of water).         Results showed that Gandasil D fertilizer concentration significantly affected length of egg plants and its biomass. The best result of Gandasil D fertilizer was at concentration of 2 g/ l of water. Growth regulator agent concentration showed significant effects on plant height of 30 days and 60 days.  The best concentration was  3 cc/ l of water.  There was a correlation between Gandasil D fertilizer concentration and Harmonik growth regulator on diameter and length of egg plant.

Abstract

            The research was aimed at determining effects of organic fertilizer D.I Grow and inorganic fertilizer  NPK Yara Mila on growth and yield of soybean.  The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized (CRD) 4 x 4 with 3 replications. There were two factors observed, that were 1) concentration of organic fertilizer D.I Grow, consisting of 4 levels : 0 mL/L of water, 1 mL/L of water, 3 mL/L of water and 5 mL/L of water, and 2) inorganic fertilizer NPK, consisting of 4 levels : 0 g/plant, 2,5 g/plant, 5,0 g/plant and 7,5 g/plant. Results showed that the concentration of fertilizer D.I Grow exerted highly significant effects on dry seed weight per plant,  yield potential,  and significant effects on plant height at 30 and 45 days after planting (DAP),  stem diameter at 45 DAP, and seed dry weight of 100 grains,  but did not exert significant effects on plant height at 15 DAP and stem diameter at 15 and 30 DAP. The best growth and yield were obtained at a concentration of DI Grow 5 mL /L of water. NPK fertilizer significantly affected plant height  at 45 DAP, stem diameter at 30 and 45 DAP, dry seed weight per plant,  and yield potential, but  did not significantly  affect plant height of 15 and 30 DAP,  stem diameter at 15 DAP,  weight of 100 grain   and seed dry weight of 100 grains. The best growth and yield were obtained at a dose of 7.5 g NPK/plant. There were highly significant interactions between concentration of D.I Grow and dosage of NPK on dry seed weight per plant and  yield potential. The best yield was obtained  at a combination of D.I Grow 5 mL/L of water and 7.5 g of NPK plant .

Abstract

Kultivar  padi beras  merah memiliki keunggulan kandungan protein dibandingkan dengan beras putih yang sangat diperlukan untuk kesehatan.Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandunganprotein dari 15genotipe generasi F4 padi merah asal Sumatera Barat menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan tiga ulangan.Penngujian  kandungan protein  metoda Keijdhalldan  pengujian kandungan antosianin dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode pH-differensial, yang  dilakukan dari bulan Juni sampai dengan bulan Juli 2015.Hasil percobaan menunjukkan terdapat keragamanyang luas pada kandunganproteindari genotipe-genotipe  yang diuji yang berkisar dari 7.8 % - 16.14 % dengan rata-rat 14.24 %. Genotipe KF5-1 memiliki kandungan protein terendah sedangkan kandungan protein tertinngi diperoleh pada genotipe KF42-13.  Hasil yang sama juga ditemukan pada kandungan antosianin dimana terdapat keragamanyang sempit pada kandungan antosianindari genotipe-genotipe  yang diuji yang berkisar dari 0.04 ppm - 1.12 ppm dengan rata-rata0,52 ppm. Genotipe KF5-13 memiliki kandungan antosianin  terendah sedangkan kandungan antosianin tertinngi diperoleh pada genotipe KF42-8.Dengan demikian kandungan protein maupun antosianin yang dihasilkan ditentukan oleh genotipe padi merah turunan persilangan padi merah lokal dengan varietas unggul Fatmawati. . Hal ini memberi peluang bagi pemulia untuk melakukan seleksi terhadap genotipe yang diuji untuk program pemuliaan padi beras merah dengan produksi dan mutu yang tinggi khususnya kandungan protein dan antosianin.Kata Kunci: landrace, protein, seleksi, varietas unggul

Abstract

This study was aimed to examine effects of terminal bud and auxiliary shoot removals on growth and yield of chili pepper. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design (RGD) with 3 replications. Factors studied were trimming of terminal bud and trimming of auxiliary shoots.   Results showed that removal of terminal bud had no effect on plant growth, represented by stem diameter (P = 0.6517) and yields, represented by the number of fruits (P = 0.9806) and length of fruit (P = 1128). Similarly, removal of auxiliary shoots also had no effect on stem diameter (P = 0.7302), number of fruits (P = 0.4210), and length of fruit (P = 0.9878).

Abstract

The objective of this study was to test three types of plant spacing on two varieties of rice on growth, yield components, and yield of rice. This experiment used a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 3 replications.  Factors studied were types of plant spacing and varieties. The results showed that the types of plant spacing significantly affected rice yield. However, the types of plant spacing did not significantly affect age of flowering, panicle length, and number of grains per panicle. On the rice yield variable, Legowo and triangle (hexagonal) types of plant spacing gave higher yields than rectangular type. Variety significantly affected age of flowering, panicle length, number of grains per panicle, and yield of rice. Pandan Wangi bloomed faster than Cot Irie line. However, Cot Irie line had longer panicles and more grain numbers, and higher yields than Pandan Wangi. There was a significant interaction between varieties and types of plant spacing on a number of productive tillers. On Pandan Wangi, the most productive tillers were found in a rectangular type of spacing, but not significantly different to a triangular type of spacing. The least number of productive tillers was found in a type of Legowo. However, on Cot Irie line, the number of productive tillers did not differ from each other among the types of plant spacing.

Abstract

Growth and Yields Performance of Several Clones of Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) at Medium Highland of Saree, District of Aceh Besar ABSTRACT. The purpose of this study is to obtain an adaptable clones with high productivity at the medium highland of Saree, in the district of Aceh Besar. This research was conducted at experimental station of The Agriculture Mentor Academy at Saree, Aceh Besar with the altitude of 520 m above sea level, from February to July 2015. The study used a non factorial Randomized Block Design. The factors being tested are 12 types of potato clone, where nine were obtain from the International Potato Center of South East Asia (CIP-SEA) Bogor, West Java (CIP-440137, CIP-AC, CIP-B19, CIP-286, CI-287, CIP-GA, SARI, CIP-W, CIP-W104) and 3 local clones (White Saree, Yellow Saree, Bener Meriah). The results show that clones have a very significant impact on the percentage of life at 3 weeks after planting (WAP), long vines (4 and 6 WAP) and biomass dry weight, and significantly impact on the number of vines. The best plant growth is found on CIP-B19 and CIP -W104, while highest yields achieved by CIP- GA and CIP-W104.
