Abstract

The objectives of this study were to investigate several media and liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and the yield of mushroom (Volvariella Volvaceae L) and also to identify the interactions between the two factors. The research was conducted at Lee Guna Gampong Peurada Banda Aceh from 15 June to 23 July 2010.  A factorial randomized completely design with three replications was used in this experiment. The first factor evaluated was medium (dried rice stalks, cane bagasse, and cardboard), and the second factor was Super A-1 fertilizer concentrations (0 cc, 7.5, and 15 cc/L). The results showed that media significantly affected stem weight and cap diameter of mushroom. However, the media did not influence primordial initiation, the number of mushrooms, length and diameter of stems. Mushrooms grew best on the medium of cane bagasse. Super A-1 concentration significantly influenced the number of mushrooms, diameter of mushroom cap, and stem diameter, but did not affect mushroom weight. The best concentration of Super A-1 for mushrooms growth was 15cc/L. There were no interactions between the media and concentration Super A-1 based on variables observed in this experiment.

Abstract

Agronomic`s Characters Evaluation of Some Parental and Hybrid Genotypes of Red-Podded Yardlong Bean (Vigna sinensis L.) ABSTRACT. Yardlong bean is one of the legume plants that potential to be developed. Nowadays, many breeding activities had been conducted to develop yardlong bean, especially red-podded yardlong bean. The purpose of the study are (1) Evaluating the quality crop of some parental and hybrid genotypes of yardlong bean; (2) Getting the hybrid genotype that more superior from the parents (3) Estimating the variability value of yardlong bean genotypes from crosses of Pm x Lu, Lu x Pm, Pm x Cm, Cm x Pm, parental genotypes of Lu, Cm, and Pm. This study was conducted at Integrated Experimental Field of Agriculture Faculty, University of Lampung in March to June 2015. The used materials in this study are 7 genotypes of yardlong bean that consists of 3 parental and 4 hybrid genotypes. This study used completely randomized design with three replications. Further test used LSI (Least Significant Increase) test in α 0,05. Results indicated that: (1) Lu x Pm is the genotype that inherited by the characteristics of the parents, sweet taste from Lu and red-pod color from Pm; (2) Lu x Pm is the genotype that better than the parents because of having red-pod color, sweet-taste pod, and pod’s length that appropriate with consumer’s desire; (3) Genetic and phenotype variability of yardlong bean genotypes from crosses of Pm x Lu, Lu x Pm, Pm x Cm, Cm x Pm, parental genotypes of Lu, Cm, and Pm have narrow criteria for almost all characters except number of branch, °brix, and crispness level that have narrow criteria.

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to determine effectiveness of antagonist T. harzianum and fungi micorrhyze in suppressing growth of Fusarium oxysporum on tomato. The research used a factorial completely randomized design, consisting of sixteen combination treatments and three replications. The first factor was doses of T. harzianum, consisting of four levels, i.e. 0, 15, 30, and 45 g.polybag-1.  The second factor was doses of micorrhyze, also consisting of four levels, i.e. 0, 5, 10, and 15 g.polybag-1. Variables observe were incubation period, length of xylem discoloration and percentage of wilting plant. The data were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance. The least significant difference test (LSD) at the 0.05 level was used to see the difference between the treatments. The results showed that applications of fungi mycorhize and T. harzianum affected growth of F. Oxysporum f sp. Lycopersici. The incubation period of F. oxysporum on tomato was longer, 20.5 days when applied with mycorrhize 15 g.polybag-1 and T. harzianum 45 g.polybag-1 compared to control 17.75 days. The length of xylem discoloration was only 2.39 cm when treated with FMA 15 g.polybag-1 compared to control 13.44 cm, while xylem discoloration was 6.56 cm when applied with T. harzianum 45 g.polybag-1 compared to control 8.65 cm. Application of mycorrhize 15 g.polybag-1 and T. harzianum 45 g.polybag-1 caused  a decreased percentage of wilting plant. The percentage of wilting plant was 35 % when treated with FMA 15 g.polybag-1 compared to control 74.28% and 42.50% when treated with T. harzianum 45 g.polybag-1 compared to control 54.64%. There was no interaction between fungi mycorrhize and T. harzianum for xylem discoloration and percentage of wilting plant.

Abstract

Characteristics of Germplasm Collection Rice Based on Viability and Seed Vigor ABSTRACT. This research aims to investigate the characteristics of rice germplasm collection based on viability and seed vigor. The experimental design used in this research is completely randomized design (CRD) non factorial with three replications. Treatment rice genotypes consisted of 23 superior genotypes, 15 genotypes glutinous and 87 nonglutinous genotypes. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Science and Technology Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University of Banda Aceh, from February to April 2014. The results showed that the genotype were highly significant effect on growth potential, rate of germination, vigor index, speed of growth, simultaneity grow and the time required to reach 50% germination (T50). The viability and vigor seed of superior genotypes best found in genotype IPB 3S and Kencana Bali. The best glutinous genotypes found in genotype Lekat Kumbob, Pulut Simanik and Pulut Merah. The best non-glutinous genotypes found in genotype Siputeh, Kuku Balam and Pade Sialek.

Abstract

Functional Response of Parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum on egg-host Corcyra cephalonica: The Effects of  Egg-host Density and Temperature Sapdi Jurusan HPT Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh ABSTRACT             A laboratory study has been conducted to investigate the functional response of parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum on egg-host, Corcyra cephalonica. The treatments were egg-host density (5, 10, 15, 30, and 60 eggs per pias) and temperature (18 oC, 25oC, and room temperature). The eggs of host were exposed to the parasitoid for 24 hours at the temperature tested. Then, the parasited eggs were reared at room temperature until they were darkened. The number of parasitized eggs was observed. The result of the study showed that the type of functional response of T. pretiosum on eggs of C. Cephalonica was type II. The percentage of parasitization increased with the increase of egg-host density and temperature tested.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The research was aimed at determining suitable varieties and concentrations of compound fertilizer RapidGro 01 on growth and yield of cauliflower. Experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) 3x3 with 3 replications. There were two factors studied, i.e. 1) varieties consisted of 3 levels (PM 126 F1, White Shot and Cauliflower Tropica 45 Days) and 2) concentration of compound fertilizer RapidGro 01 consisted of 3 levels (2, 4, and 6 gL-1of water). Results showed that varieties significantly affected plant height at 30 days after planting, leaf numbers at 45 days after transplanting (DAT) and wet weight of flowers per plant, but did not significantly affect plant height at 15 and 45 DAT, leaf numbers at 15 and 30 DAT, root length and wet weight. The best variety was AM 126 F1. Concentrations of compound fertilizer RapidGro 01 did not significantly affect plant height and leaf numbers at 15, 30, and 45 DAT, root length, fresh weight per plant and wet weight per plant. There was no significant interaction between varieties and concentrations of compound fertilizer RapidaGro 01 on all variables of growth and yield of cauliflower.

Abstract

Mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus) is a new pest attacted papaya that effect quantity and quality of papaya production. The research was aimed at study of biology and development of papaya mealy bug; from an egg stadium to mature bug. The experiment was conducted at plant field experiment of Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University from May to November 2011. To understand the biology and development of mealy bug, a survey and collection of P. Marginatus were conducted for mass production in laboratory, then they were invested on healthy papaya leaf. In the future the result of this study will be used as a pest control recommendation.

Abstract

The aim of research was to determine the effect of the combination of a single inorganic fertilizers and biofertilizers on the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays Saccharata Sturt) and soil microbial population. Research was conducted in Bandar Lampung from December 2015 to March 2016. The study was conducted using a randomized block design with six treatments and three replications. Those treatments were K0 (control), K1 (Urea 300 kg / ha, SP-36 150 kg / ha, KCl 100 kg / ha), K2 (Urea = 300 kg / ha, SP-36 150 kg / ha, KCl 100 kg / ha) + Biomax Grow, K3 (Urea 180kg / ha, SP-36 to 90 kg / ha, KCl = 60 kg / ha) + Biomax Grow K4 (Urea 60kg / ha, SP-36 30 kg / ha, KCl 20 kg / ha) and K5 = Biomax Grow. The experiment showed the highest production of sweet corn obtained was 13.20 tonnes / ha from a combination of 60% inorganic fertlizers with biofertilizer.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out dosages of biofertilizer and manure which was the most effective to control bean fly (A. phaseoli). This research was carried out at Cot Cut Village, District of Kuta Baro, Aceh Besar, from September to December 2008. This research used a factorial randomized complete block design with two factors: biofertilizer (H) and manure (K).  Dosages of biofertilizer were H1= 2,8 L ha-1, H2= 3,5 L ha-1, H3= 4,2 L ha-1, and H4= 4,9 L ha-1. Dosages of manure fertilizer were K1= 2,8 ton ha-1,  K2= 5,6 ton ha-1 and K3= 8,4 ton ha-1.  The result showed that application of biofertilizer was more effective than that of manure fertilizer to percentage rates of the attacked plant. However, both biofertilizer and mature fertilizer exerted  significant effects to percentage of plant death, plant dwarf, number of larva and pupa, and dry seed weight per plant.  Application of biofertilizer at 4,9 L ha-1 and manure fertilizer at 8,4 ton ha-1 reduced  percentages of  plant death up to 86% and 83%, respectively.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to investigate effects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and compost on soil chemical properties under soybean.  The research was conducted in Ude Village, Matangkuli Sub-District, Aceh Utara District, from June to November 2013.  The experimental design was a factorial randomized complete block design with three replications. The first factor was Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi doses, consisted of 4 levels: 0, 20, 40, and 60 g Pot-1. The second factor was compost doses, consisted of 4 levels: 0, 75, 150, and 225 g Pot-1. Variables measured were pH value, available P, and organic C soil. The results showed that compost doses gave significantly effect on pH value, available P and C-organic soil.  Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi doses increased the pH value, available P and organic C compared to without the fungi. There was a significant interaction between Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi doses and compost doses on pH value and available P. Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi dose of 60 g pot -1 and compost dose of 150 g pot-1 was able to increase the pH value. However, the best available P was found at Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi dose of 60 g pot-1 and compost dose of 75 g pot-1.
