Abstract

The condition of campus room doors that are often open has the potential for misuse of campus rooms that do not comply with the schedule set in the room and affect the security of the room facilities. This research aims to produce an Android-based campus room usage monitoring application using magnetic door locks at JTIK FT UNM as well as knowing the results of functional testing and performance testing or system performance. This research uses the Research and Development method with the Rapid Application Development Development model with stages: needs analysis, system design, system building, validation, testing, and final product. The final product of this research is a system developed in an Android-based room usage monitoring application that is integrated with a magnetic door lock using the QR Code feature. In this case, the system utilizes the ESP32 microcontroller as a chip that receives and provides signals according to the program in the system. The test results obtained validation of the Android-based campus room usage monitoring application using magnetic door locks can be said to be valid and suitable for use.

Abstract

Facial recognition has emerged as a prominent personal identification system, especially in the industrial sector where traditional attendance card machines have been prevalent. However, manual systems pose several drawbacks, including susceptibility to fraud, lack of flexibility, and resource wastage in card production. To address these issues, this research proposes a shift from card-based attendance systems to a facial recognition-based system using MATLAB application. The study aims to design an identification system based on the eigenface method to process facial images. It begins with a thorough literature review to gather relevant references. Subsequently, a specialized MATLAB application was developed for face identification, and its accuracy was tested. The research utilizes trained data consisting of 45 photos and tested data consisting of 15 photos to evaluate the system's accuracy. The test results reveal a 100% accuracy rate in system identification. Notably, the accuracy varies when identifying faces with different background images, indicating the robustness of the MATLAB application. Overall, the findings suggest that MATLAB can effectively implement an image processing attendance system using the eigenface method.

Abstract

Flooding has until now become a serious problem in various regions in Indonesia. Flooding is a problem that occurs due to increasing the volume of excess water in rivers that are influenced by human activities that are not friendly to the environment. Floods have quite a lot of negative impacts, one of which is the damage to community facilities and infrastructure. Community preparedness is needed to reduce the negative impact of the flood. One solution that can be done is to design a flood Early Warning System (EWS) as a tool in detecting water levels before the arrival of flood hazards. Mitigation activities need to be complemented by a monitoring system based on the environmental conditions of the surrounding community. This research aims to make a prototype of a flood early warning system that is easy to operate and effective to detect the arrival of floods. In the prototype there is a level switch sensor that can detect high movements of water levels in the watershed. High level information on the water level is then sent periodically in the form of notifications via telegram to the smartphones of community residents whose numbers are registered in the system. From the test results, the ultrasonic sensor obtained 98.7% read accuracy results and a delay time in sending telegram notifications of 3-5 seconds.

Abstract

Prited Circuit Board is one part of the field of electronics that has many roles and benefits. This automatic PCB path manufacturing will provide many benefits to users that were previously still done manually. In this research, the PCB carving process will be operated using G-Code and GRBL controller to control the machine. The use of 3 stepper motors will provide a good carving composition in terms of x, y and Z axis movements, as well as the use of spindles for drill bit control that functions to carve PCB layouts. From the results, the PCB path manufacturing process is faster and has the accuracy of the specified design

Abstract

Fires very often occur due to gas leaks, careless throwing of cigarette butts or electrical short circuits which result in the fire getting bigger, causing a lot of losses. Many fire cases are discovered when the fire has already occurred and few can be detected from the start. The research aims to develop an effective system for detecting fires by integrating fire and smoke sensors, as well as providing notifications via the Blynk platform. This research is research and development (R&D) using a prototype development model. The results of the functionality testing obtained a 100% presentation which shows that the prototype is suitable for use. Tests were carried out using three levels of fire levels and various distances, showing good response from the fire sensor with a consistent incoming notification speed of around 2-3 seconds. The results of fire measurements using the MQ-2 smoke sensor show accuracy in detecting smoke concentration levels, with timely notification of potential fires. This research has produced a detection tool that has the ability to detect early fire in a room which can provide warning notifications that are integrated with Internet of Things (IoT).

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to design and build service information applications at the Tombolopao Subdistrict Office based on android and know the results of the test of the administrative service information application of Tombolopao Subdistrict based on android. This application is made using the Research and Development (R&D) research type and waterfall development model. This research was conducted at the Tombolopao District Office and tested by fifteen people. The results of this study produce products in the form of service information applications that will be used by people who want to know information and perform services at the Tombolopao District Office. This system is tested using the ISO 25010 standard using 4 aspects, namely functional suitability, portability, usability, and performance efficiency. Functional suitability testing makes this application feasible to use. Portability testing is done by observing the output results generated by using android smartphones in various versions, the results obtained are known that this service information application system runs well on several versions of android. Usability testing conducted by users in areas not covered by the network is in the Very Good category. Performance efficiency testing is done using android studio by measuring realtime data for the CPU used which is 100%, 512 Mb memory, when the application is used.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to produce an integrated counseling information system on the web of the counseling service unit of the department of informatics and computer engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Makassar State University and find out the results of system testing using ISO 25010 with 8 testing aspects. This research is a type of software design research (software development) and uses a prototype design model with stages: gathering requirements, building a prototype, evaluating the prototype, coding the system, testing the system, evaluating the system, and using the system. The subjects of this research were students from the Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering, Makassar State University. Data collection instruments were carried out through validation test sheets, student response questionnaires, and system expert assessment instruments. The results obtained from this research are: (1) Functional suitability of the system created is 100% "Acceptable" criteria. (2) Performance efficiency obtained a result of 83.0% in the grade B "Good" category. (3) Usability obtained a percentage of 89% 98 respondents with the criteria "Very Good". (4) Compatibility shows that the system is made compatible with browsers so that it is expressed properly without causing problems. (5) Security obtained a grade of A+ "Very Good" in terms of security and no dangerous viruses were found on the system. (6) Reliability obtained as a percentage of 100% so it can be concluded that it meets the reliability aspect. (7) Maintainability obtained from the instrumentation, consistency and simplicity aspects can be categorized as good and meets the standards. Portability shows that the system can be accessed in a variety of different browsers. Based on the test results, it was concluded that the counseling information system integrated on the web of the counseling service unit of the informatics and computer engineering department, Faculty of Engineering, Makassar State University was suitable and acceptable for use.

Abstract

This research method is research and development which aims to produce and know the test results of the development of Arduino-based cigarette smoke detection devices at SMK Negeri 2 Makassar. This software system uses ISO 25010 using the system quality testing stage to obtain the results of functionality, usability, portability, Compatibility, Reliability, Security. This tool has been tested on 22 respondents. This tool has the potential to detect the presence of cigarette smoke or be used as a fire warning system. To improve the ability to detect cigarette smoke is to combine the Internet of Things (IoT) with the Arduino platform. The main components used in this system include Arduino, MQ7 sensor, Flame detector, NodeMCU ESP8266 module, Buzzer or speaker as audio alert, and electrical adapter. When smoke is detected past a predetermined threshold, this tool will issue a warning, both visual and audible, and send data through the Blynk application. In software reliability testing, we got 173 results from each coding and progress status is good or working which indicates the system has fulfilled the reliability aspect. For security testing using the OWSP ZAP application to determine vulnerability or security. As a result, the tool has a medium security level system, which states that the error rate on the server and coding (source code) in the application is categorized as safe

Abstract

The current government is actively promoting the cultivation of horticultural crops as a means of cost savings, reducing air pollution, and environmental conservation. Due to the limited available land, the community has shifted to using hydroponic growing media. However, to ensure optimal plant growth, it is essential to implement a system that controls temperature, humidity, and the pH level of the nutrient solution in the hydroponic setup. This research employs an experimental methodology, leveraging temperature sensors, pH sensors, NodeMCU, and the Blynk application. The findings of this study demonstrate that to optimize the control of temperature, humidity, and pH levels of the nutrient solution, it is necessary to periodically add both pure water and nutrient solution. The addition of pure water alone to the nutrient solution in the growing media causes the pH to fluctuate by an average of 0.4 units per 1000mL of pure water added. Temperature and humidity control within the nutrient solution of the hydroponic media can be maintained by adding pure water. The study results showed that the temperature was controlled between 18°C and 25.2°C, with humidity levels ranging from 60% to 75%. The data processing time, from sensor data acquisition, data processing on the NodeMCU, to data transmission from NodeMCU to the Blynk application, averages 1.22 seconds. The command transmission time to execution varies from 30 seconds to 90 seconds, depending on the distance between the system and the growing media. This study concludes that the addition of pure water must be accompanied by the addition of nutrients to ensure that, alongside maintaining temperature and humidity, the pH level remains within the desired set point range.

Abstract

Unit commitment is the scheduling of disconnected generation of generating units in an electric power system within a certain period, with the aim of meeting load demand. This scheduling is usually determined based on human load demand which always changes over time. This research aims to determine the production costs of thermal plants using the Second Order Gradient method to obtain economical operating costs, to determine fuel costs based on plant loading, and to determine the most economical scheduling using unit commitment. This is to determine the most optimal on/off schedule for generating units to be operated to meet the estimated load to achieve minimum fuel costs in rupiah.
