Abstract

Aim: The current research aims include analyzing the impact of COVID-19 on consumer behavior patterns in the fashion retail sector, determining how the level of buyer awareness influences consumer purchase behavior, and assessing the impact of online services on consumer behavior patterns in the fashion retail sector. There needs to be more research done on how fashion retail brands can best adjust to the new normal, as well as the demand for local brands, in the face of online marketing difficulties both during and after the lockdown. Methodology: The city of Kandy, located in Sri Lanka’s hill countryside, served as a focal fashion for the research because it is home to both fashion consumers and the 10 fashion brands examined in the study. Qualitative and quantitative techniques were used in this study’s data collection, organization, and analysis. Online shopping has been identified as a trend that has signaled a rapid increase due to changes in consumer behavior and the new trends of retailers. Research Results: A majority of shoppers (51.7%, to be exact) plan to keep making their purchases online going. A subset of consumers prefers traditional commerce, but they have been forced to adapt to new trade methods based on online purchasing, and this trend is expected to persist in the future. This study’s findings lend credence to the behavior that consumers’ responses to a pandemic will be complex and multifaceted. Retailers in the fashion industry will need to pay close attention to consumer preferences and adjust their stock and marketing strategies in light of the new restrictions on discretionary spending. Implications/Novel Contribution: Suggestions could be used to improve the fashion retail industry in Sri Lanka so that it can keep up with digital advancements in the future and endure when unforeseen events, such as a lockdown or global pandemic, strike the country.

Abstract

Aim: This research paper aims to evaluate the effectiveness of American political communications abroad in the fight against terrorism through the lens of soft power. Furthermore, this article explores the government’s potential media use on the front lines of the anti-terrorist struggle. It also discusses the various definitions of soft power and offers advice to any leader concerned about the potential damage to their country’s international standing due to a failure to employ such strategies. Methodology: A case study methodology was used for the data collection and analysis in this study, indicating that it is a qualitative investigation. This paper thoroughly examines the case study of the Iraq invasion. The study focused on the two most widely read US news outlets. Because of their prominence in reflecting the views of the two largest political parties in the United States, the Democrats and the Republicans, CNN and Fox News are chosen. Findings: Research results reveal on how specific countries and media outlets use communication to advance soft power are also included. Implications/Novel Contribution: The research paper has successfully provided data on the adverse effects of using hard power, as seen in the fallout from the invasion of Iraq in the years 2001-2005. This was an act of vengeance for the attacks on September 11 that rocked the United States to its core. Discusses the effectiveness of employing soft power in combating terrorism.

Abstract

Aim: This research aims to pinpoint the specific factors that need to be considered to lessen the negative effects of socioeconomic factors during the planning stages of a resettlement project. Methodology: The quantitative cross-sectional study used a positivistic methodology. Under the survey design, raw data was gathered via structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. 51 households were drawn from Displaced Person due to the ’Yan Oya’ development project using a simple random probability sample method. Findings: The original lands were flooded by the reservoir created by the Yan Oya project. The mud farming and chena cultivation provided for them in the early settlement were abandoned. There is currently no land available for chena cultivation, but land in the resettlement area has been fairly distributed. This forced resettlement resulted in several adverse outcomes, including increased costs associated with day-to-day living, separation from loved ones, fraying socialties, and isolation from neighbors. The community infrastructure found crumbled. Implications/Novel Contribution: The proposed relocation to this area comes straight from the government. However, the benefits and the infrastructure offered to them could be better thought out. There are a lot of unmet social, economic, and emotional requirements. Compared to the positive effects, the negative ones of this resettlement are enormous. They require more help in financials, technical know-how, land, market facilities, new job opportunities, and training for jobs in the information and communications technology (ICT), electric, mechanic, and automobile industries. Training, financial aid, and other resources should be available to unemployed women interested in starting their own businesses.

Abstract

Aim: There is a constant recycling of old looks into the current fashion scene. Many working fashion designers today mine haute couture and the works of other high-end designers for inspiration. Fashion designer Cristobal Balenciaga (1895-1972), often called the "king of haute couture," is credited with several groundbreaking looks. Many extraordinary innovations in the world of fashion were gifts from his combination of technical brilliance and aesthetic taste. His contributions are timeless, and they continue to impact fashion designers everywhere. This research aims to analyze contemporary fashion designers Greth Pugh (1981) and Demna Gvasalia (1981) to determine what elements of Balenciaga’s designs have been adopted by them. Methodology: This study takes a qualitative approach. To better understand the work of modern designers, this study examines a wide range of resources, including historical masterpieces, scholarly works, photographs, fashion, museum websites, web articles, books, video documentaries, and informative videos from YouTube channels like the Met and V&A. Through systematic data collection, analysis, and observation were applied to gather the required data. Findings: Cristobal Balenciaga’s ideology has influenced contemporary designers, as evidenced by comparing their work to that of the Masters of the 1950s. All of the chosen designers have clearly absorbed Balenciaga’s masterful inspiration. These two contemporary designers have taken inspiration from the conceptualization of Cristobal Balenciaga’s masterpieces and have updated these ideologies to reflect the current era by fusing new technologies and concepts. Balenciaga’s superiority, however, has stayed the same. Implications/Novel Contribution: This study compares and contrasts Cristobal Balenciaga’s work with modern designers to draw conclusions about how one style can be interpreted in various ways over time. The study opened new avenues of exploratory research in the field for comparative approaches in fashion design industry and research.

Abstract

Aim: During the peak of the harvest season, falling prices are a common issue for Indonesian farmers. Farmers had exhausted their ability to store their crops due to insufficient funds and a lack of storage space. In most cases, intermediaries and loan sharks will take advantage of this situation for financial gain. This research defines the novel concept of warehouse receipts as a marketing model for agricultural commodities and examines its potential benefits for farmer income and family nutrition. Methodology: The investigation used a literature review of various books, statutes, and regulations, as well as a study of judicial decisions and advice from experts in the field. In-depth interviews were also a part of the research team’s efforts on the ground. Findings: According to the research results, the government’s SRG policy, which was developed with the farmers’ well-being in mind, had resulted in the farmers receiving legal protection, both in terms of guarantees in banks and other financial institutions and in terms of legal protection for farmers making use of the warehouse receipt system to obtain bank loans backed by guarantees. Transferring warehouse receipts and security in the form of invoices raised is possible; second, the government policy still encounters obstacles in its implementation. Several factors act as roadblocks, including: (1) Farmer’s lack of awareness regarding the availability of warehouse receipts. (2) The large number of middlemen relying on warehouse receipts leads to an overestimated inventory. (3) Internal banking regulations limit warehouse receipts as collateral because banks are wary of the potential decline in asset value. Implications/Novel Contribution: This article looks at the latest developments and discusses their benefits and drawbacks. Food supply chain management is its primary area of expertise, including inventory management, shipping, demand forecasting, and warehouse receiving. Financial institutions would rather have investments in real estate or other tangible assets whose value is stable or expected to rise over the next few years. To better the farmers’ lot, it is necessary to have federal and state governments step in so that banks feel safe lending money with warehouse receipt guarantees.

Abstract

Aim: The Indonesian practice of decentralization is based on centralistic bureaucratic thinking, which ensures that all aspects of government, including governance structures, politics, institutions, law, and finance, are applied consistently across all levels of government. But there are significant differences between regions, so standardization is impossible. Reasons for this include the potential for conflict resulting from divergent perspectives on history, regional rights, religion, language, culture, politics, geography, economy, and ethnicity. The decentralization strategy is meant to create harmony between traditional knowledge and the Nagari Ministry’s efforts to implement Community Law Number 6 of 2014. Methodology: For this study, we opted for a qualitative, descriptive approach. Purposive sampling was used to select participants in the villages of Nagari Kapau, Nagari Minangkabau, Nagari Mahakarya, and Nagari Anduring in Indonesia’s West Sumatra Province. In-depth interviews, surveys, and written research records were all used to compile the data. The data’s reliability was checked using data aggregation methods in this probe. Findings: The findings show that while the concepts of both the bottom-up and top-down Nagari governance model and Law Number 6 of 2014 can be accommodated in theory, in practice, the Mixing government model presents significant challenges. Implications/Novel Contribution: This research supports the idea that Nagari public administration can easily incorporate conventional wisdom from the region. This research has also recommended that future scholars think about the bottom-up government model and the top-down government model that can create harmony between the interests of the community or citizens of the village and a government that is structured from the top (top-down) through Law number 6 of 2014 and other legislation. Many nations make similar attempts, and essential takeaways from this research could be applied to governments in the same region.

Abstract

Aim: Male-Headed Households (MHHs) and Female-Headed Households (FHHs) can be distinguished by the gender of the household’s primary breadwinner. Male heads of households are the norm in patriarchal societies. However, there are many situations in which a woman must take on the headship role on her own: when her husband dies, gets sick or disabled, leaves her, gets divorced, never marries, etc. Thus, this research aims to compare how FHHs were set up before and after women took charge. Methodology: This research was carried out in the Kurunegala district of the North-Western province of Sri Lanka in the five Grama Niladari divisions of the Galgamuwa divisional secretariat: Molewa, Kallanchiya, Koonw ewa, Wadugama, and Medawachchiya. Purposive sampling was used to select 100 female participants with FHHs verification. Questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were the primary methods of data collection. Surveys and case studies were employed in the study’s research. Descriptive statistics were used to examine the numbers, while the descriptive approach was used to investigate the qualitative information. Findings: Changes to FHHs are more dramatic when one or both parents move back in with their children when a child moves back in with a different guardian, when a child marries and leaves the reproductive family, when a child dies, or when a child becomes an ordained religious leader. The study focused on how the household’s economic role and decision-making authority have changed. Implications/Novel Contribution: Seventy-four percent of women in leadership roles feel that structural and functional changes have negatively impacted their lives. Several factors, including economic hardship, insecure livelihood activities, sole household responsibilities, a lack of supportive community mechanisms, gender bias in the socialization process, dependency and a subordinate mentality in decision- making, and other factors, have influenced their adverse reactions to specific functional changes after assuming the headship. Therefore, it is essential to run mobilization and empowerment programs for women heads at the grass-roots level to boost their decision-making, leadership, and active community engagement potentials. We must provide emotional support systems like therapy, mentoring, and advocacy to enhance their mental health. The study brings key policy insights for social scientists and gender studies scholars.

Abstract

Aim: The insider threat is a severe issue in cyber security. Protecting a company from the potentially disastrous actions of its own employees presents a formidable challenge, and identifying and eliminating the insider threat is a crucial part of that. This study aims to determine the types of insider threats that can exist within an organization and the best methods for countering them. Methodology: Insiders (representing types of insiders, motivation, insider access, methods used by insiders, insider profiling, and levels of insiders); Threat Detection Methods (describing methodology, techniques, datasets used to implement various insider threat detection techniques, and different analyzed user behavior); and Insider Threat Analysis (describing the various analyzed behavior of the user) are the three categories into which the research has been sorted. Findings: Since the global changes in the business environment, insider threats have become a problem for most companies. There has been an increase in the insider threat since 2019, and one primary reason is the widespread adoption of cloud computing and bring-your-own-device policies for remote work. Implications/Novel Contribution: Future studies are encouraged to improve threat detection methods, evaluate the efficacy of existing methods using a real-world dataset, and adopt a hybrid approach to developing effective models for detecting insider threats.

Abstract

Aim: Specific rural Guelmim province of Morrocco tourism attractions are highlighted here (south of Morocco). The study aims to defend this transition’s significance by focusing on the actor who can influence this key step in marketing a tourism resource. Methodology: The province of Guelmim in southern Morocco consists of 20 communes (18 rural and 2 urban) that serve as the basis for our study area’s geographical definition. To keep our research manageable, we focus on four rural communes: Assrir, Fask, Abaynou, and Amtedi. With all their peculiarities, the raw variety of resources can be traced through the qualitative analysis of comments from the surveyed literature. Institutional actors were consulted for this qualitative study, including tourism and culture delegates, municipal officials, the Regional Tourism Council, and tourism experts. Findings: From this vantage point, the operator’s role is seen as a prism through which the unique characteristics of the resource are conceptualized in its historical and cultural representatives, thereby highlighting the importance of the resource at the local territory. Implications/Novel Contribution: This article describes the unique rural tourism opportunities and its development to support economy. The study has widespread implications for tourism in several countries with similar geographical resources. .
