Abstract

Current vision of agribusiness development is to build a creative, productive and healthy society through a strong and local resourced-based agricultural development. Its mission is to provide food supply, empower human resources, and create employment and economic opportunities, and to sustain and utilise natural resources with responsible manner. Realization of this mission is, however, undermined by low education (more than 80% was in elementary level, even in completed). It results in blurred vision of farmer in doing business and weak entrepreneurship. On of necessary efforts to cope with this problem is to recruit more university students for field advisor of agriculture (PPL), instead of current field advisor with only senior high school level of education. For this purpose, university should create a curriculum program that is aimed at developing entrepreneurship skills for its students. University should be able to produce well-prepared graduated students with entrepreneurship skills, knowledgeable, religious capacity, and nationalism. Keywords: ,

Abstract

Economic development policy in Indonesia should be focused at sector which taking care of resident majority that is resident in rural with profession as farmer. Industrial development also should be focused at activities that have relation with the majority importance ( Joseph E. Stighlitz, 2004).

Abstract

Usually peasants have ability to increase agricultural productivity, but weakness in marketing, so they do not increase their income. More over, there are many peasants that always think risk minimization and not profit maximization. In order to become farmer that have ability to develop agribusiness, peasants empowering can be carried out by farmer gives agricultural extension to peasants.

Abstract

The goal of this research is to know the adoption level at artificial insemination execution of goat. The survey is executed in Sawahan Sub district, Madiun Regency, East Java, March until April 2007. From 13 villages in Sawahan Sub district that selected by stratified random sampling, obtained 3 villages, Rejosari village with a few livestock ownership criteria, Lebak Ayu (medium livestock ownership), and Sawahan (high livestock ownership). From these village then selected by 30 responders that done by simple random. The adoption level of the livestock farmer marginally at low adoption level. From 30 responders, 6 people at high adoption level, 10 people at medium adoption level, and 14 people at low adoption level. Data processing by using SPSS program that show there is closeness relation among adoption level to knowledge level variable and social characteristic (counseling). So that knowledge of livestock farmer about artificial insemination at goat can increase need existence of counseling that done continually and have continuation, and there is Cooperation with related institution that is Animal Husbandry Office in Madiun Regency in ready of tools.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the training programmes for Agricultural Extension Agents in BPP of Gunungkidul Regency, concerning : 1)the relevance of traininng programme with participants needs (2) the characteristics of agricultural extension agents (3) the participation of participants (4) the quality of training program implementation (5) the benefit of training programme to participants and (6) the participants skill in extention implementation. This evaluation research using the CIPP model ( Context, Input Process,Product) developed by Stufflebeam. The subject s were 23 participants of agricultural extention agents and 46 persons farmers.The data were collected using questionaire, interveiws and through observations. The quntitative data were analyzed descriptively by using SPSS 11.0 for windows. The validity of the instrument was examined through the content and construct validity by using the factor analyzis.The reliability of the instrument was examined by using the alpha coefficient. The result of the reserarch shows that: (1)The training program is relevant to the participants needs (2) The characteristic of participant 100 % is civil servent functional ofagriculturl exctention agents, formal education of participants is 4,4% SPMA, 39,13 D3 and 56,52 % D4/S1 with experience as agricultural extention agents 86,95% for more than 15 years (3) The participants participation is in an excellent category (90%)(4) The training program implementation quality is in an excellent category (5) benefit for participant is in an excellent category (6) the farmer percived that in general the extenching skill of the agricultural extention agents is in an excellente category and the main constraint in programme implementation is limited availability of supporting facility for activity. Abstract

This research aims to know farmer's attitude of agricultural extension workers role in the region after earthquake disaster. The data were collected through a survey for farmers who were earthquake victims happened in Bantul, July 25th, 2006. To measure farmer's attitude used score. Results show that earthquake disaster caused many impact of farm. These impacts influenced farmer's attitude patterns including their attitutede's on agricultural extension workers role.

Abstract

The research of the influence of kind of organic fertilizer in clon madu sweet potato ( Ipomea batatas L) production is done in STPP trial garden (STPP, Majors of Counseling of Agriculture Yogyakarta) at October 2006 until May 2007. The goal of this research is to know the influence of various organic fertilizer at sweet potato production There are 6 treatments, control (P1), and 5 types of organic fertilizer that used are cage fertilizer (P2), paddy chaff fertilizer ( P3), wood fertilizer (P4), paddy hay fertilizer (P5), leaves fertilizer (P6). The method of this research by using one factor complete group random device, each repeated 4 times. Perception is done to mean parameter, sontrot's quantity, corm's quantity, corm's diameter, and producing of corm (corm's weight). The conclusion of this research that the treatment of some organic fertilizers have an effect on and reality different at the production of sweet potatoes, an addition paddy hay fertilizer shows that the production of sweet potatoes (corm's weight) is the highest than other fertilizer types

Abstract

Indonesia is agrarian country that most of farmers have small land acreage, so that is not efficient. In several areas often occurred famine. Some problems were faced by farmers can be solved by join together namely through farmer group. Farmer group can be used as basis of food stock. In every harvesting , members of farmer group give small part of their harvest to group for food stock, so each farmer group in village have function as basis food stock. Food stock can be larger through join several farmer groups in subdistricts level, regency level, reach province level.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to know the dissemination of the conservation technology by opinion leaders, extension agent , and mass media. The metods of collecting the primary data has done with interview, with the sum of samples are 60 peoples. The data analysis used by the ANOVA. The results of this research were the dissemination of the conservation technology at high levels, and the roles of opinion leaders which influence to diffution levels of the conservation technology were higher better than extension agent and mass media.

Abstract

This article aims to answer on what is the agriculture extention workers role in the environmental revitalization. The library research using an analytical-critical method showed that the agriculture extention workers role should be able to change communities behaviors to be more responsible for what they will do, proactive, future oriented, and respectful to the local wisdoms.
