Abstract

Global warming is increasingly becoming a significant threat to livestock welfare and productivity in rural areas, which rely heavily on the livestock sector for food security and income. This study aims to analyze the impacts of climate change on livestock productivity and evaluate adaptation strategies implemented by farmers in rural areas. The methods used include qualitative and quantitative approaches through surveys, in-depth interviews, and direct observation of farmers in climate change vulnerable areas. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. The results showed that increased temperature and rainfall uncertainty had a negative impact on livestock health, feed availability and productivity. Adaptation strategies implemented by farmers, such as livestock species diversification and more efficient feed management, have helped mitigate some of the negative impacts, but limited access to technology and resources is a significant constraint in improving adaptive capacity. In addition, extension support and climate information are still limited, especially in remote areas. The discussion underscores the need for a holistic approach involving technical, social and policy aspects in supporting farmers' adaptation to climate change. Greater support from the government and relevant institutions is needed to improve farmers' access to information, technology and financing. In conclusion, the impacts of global warming on the livestock sector in rural areas are significant, and effective adaptation requires cross-sectoral support to ensure the sustainability of livestock productivity.

Abstract

Livestock health management plays an important role in improving the productivity of Peranakan Etawah (PE) goats, especially in terms of milk and meat production. This study aimed to analyze the impact of implementing comprehensive health management on the productivity of PE goats in various farms. The research method involved observations and interviews with farmers, as well as analysis of productivity data obtained from the implementation of animal health practices, such as vaccination, fermented feed, and natural ingredient-based treatment. The results showed that farmers who implemented good health management managed to increase milk production by 25% and reduce mortality rates by 15%. The main factors influencing this success were regular vaccination, implementation of biosecurity, and structured feed management. However, constraints faced by farmers, such as limited access to technology and high operational costs, hinder the adoption of comprehensive health management. This study recommends increased extension programs and support from the government and relevant agencies to facilitate wider adoption of health management. With multi-stakeholder collaboration, it is expected that PE goat productivity can continue to increase, support food security, and provide economic benefits for farmers in rural areas.

Abstract

Effective financial management systems are key to improving the profitability of small-scale livestock enterprises. This study evaluated the financial management systems implemented in small-scale livestock enterprises and identified challenges and opportunities for improvement. The methods used included qualitative data analysis through interviews with farmers and direct observation of existing financial management practices. The results showed that many farmers still rely on conventional financial management practices, resulting in a lack of efficiency and transparency in financial management. The application of information technology, such as the Point of Sales (PoS) system, is proven to improve operational efficiency and simplify the recording of financial transactions. In addition, financial management training for farmers improved their understanding of the importance of good financial management. The study also found that production cost and human resource management factors had a significant effect on business profitability. Therefore, a holistic approach that includes cost analysis, marketing and human resource management is necessary to achieve optimal results. The resulting recommendations include the implementation of an integrated financial management system, increased training for farmers, and support from the government and related institutions. It is expected that these measures can improve the profitability and sustainability of small-scale livestock enterprises.

Abstract

Climate change has posed significant challenges to the livestock sector, affecting the production and welfare of farmers. This study aims to analyze the adaptation strategies applied by farmers in the face of climate change in the study area. Through a survey of 150 farmers, data were collected on adaptation practices, perceptions of climate change, and factors influencing adaptation decisions. The results showed that the majority of farmers have implemented diverse adaptation strategies, including increased fodder diversity, business diversification, and the use of modern agricultural technology. Although many farmers have successfully implemented these strategies, constraints such as limited access to extension services and financial resources are major challenges. The study also highlighted the importance of support from the government and relevant agencies to improve farmers' capacity to cope with climate change. The findings are expected to provide valuable insights for the development of policies that support the resilience of the livestock sector to the impacts of climate change in the future.
